Poor pre-season training caused injuries

Gor Mahia coach Zdravko Logarusic has blamed poor pre season training for the many injuries that have rocked Gor Mahia in the recent past. The coach has however said that soon the injuries will drastically reduce as he has introduced measures to ensure players get the best trainings that condition their muscles to adjust to the heavy schedule.

“The team experienced a very bad pre season training and most of the players are pushing their bodies beyond their abilities. Players’ muscles need to be conditioned to perform to certain levels and all this should be done during the pre season sessions, but unfortunately it looks like the team did not get the best during that time.” Logarusic said.

On their match against Chemelil on Sunday, Logarusic noted an improvement in the performance of the team but said there is still a lot to be done for the team to achieve maximum capability.

He said after dropping nine players from the team, he is shopping around for experienced players who can add value to the current team.

“ It was unfortunate we did not win with a big margin  but it is important we had all points. There is some improvement but the team can perform better with additional experienced players.” He said.

  • WHO PREPARES THIS PRE SEASON TRAINING?

In the beginning of this season, a lot of our players succumb to very scary injuries that send chills down the spines of K’Ogalo fraternity.

The coach then, Alaba Awono was forced to utilise the players who are available. What followed were very devastating results. First we were humbled by a relatively new side, Muhoroni Youth and to this day K’Ogalo has not recovered from that defeat. As it stands now, K’Ogalo is yet to book itself a place in the Top 8 spot, a now very lucrative and prestigious tournament on Wednesday night.

Let me say, the pre season trainings previously organised by the club were not well thought out, was only a PR exercise and undertaken by an over ambitious EC without the input of the technical bench. For instance, what does the annual Nyanza tour tournaments add to the club apart from PR? Is going to party at the chairman’s rural home part of the training?
    What of the Loitokitok tours?

I am simply saying, let us always respect our technical team and their advices. it is them who draw their training plan and ofcourse facilitated by the EC. It is laughable to read K’Ogalo played friendlies with Bomet combined, sijui Kisii combined and so on and so forth.
As RAO normally advices, let us always benchmark ourselves with the best teams in Africa. What about playing Esperance of Tunisia, Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa or Enyimba from Nigeria?

We have the resources to invite such big names to Nairobi. What we don’t have is the visionionary leadership. Let me quckly add that I have great confidence for the current office. The current forays to TZ was great and good to our team. Simba and Yanga are indeed very good sides but definately we need an open and strategic minds because our league is becoming hard by the day.

@7 Opuk, stop it you can not coach, let the head coach do what is good for the team…..this outside the pitch coaching has cost us alot.
Atleast we are moving away from the river banks to the higher grounds.
No one is perfect but give credit where it’s due.

  • pre-season training or pre-season show-off. gor officials were simply wallowing on the notion that they had made it big. most of these officials react on the fans mode to manage. its the same excitement that promises of building a stadium came from and all swallowed. gor EC should learn the club limits. i asked before that why let BB go to azam when the same guys can build a stadium. unfortunately most fans cannot reason enough to know what the club can or cannot achieve. emotional decisions can be disastrous. remember moi once said water for all before the year 2000. it’s called being power drank management. EC learn your limits and build from the ground up. gor with good leadership can easily pay a basic of kshs 100,000/- but unfortunately these EASY DREAMS derail everythng. it happens alot in our personal lives(when we fall into some money) and i guess alot of you can reasonate with what i’m saying.nigeria after discovering oil fell into the BIG dream syndrome and what followed is that the country after some time was IMPORTING baked bread.

  • These uncoothed myopic characters like ‘OPUK RARONGE’ should not be given airtime on this site! To our beloved Coach Logarusic, keep up the good job you’re doing at our legendary club. Cheers man.
