Blackberry to Azam

Any hopes of re-signing George Odhiambo after his departure from Randers FC of Denmark were dashed when he signed with Tanzanian side Azam. The ambitious Tanzanian side was promoted to the top tier in 2008 and since then has been battling to end the hegemony of a two horse race that is the Tanzanian league.

Azam has over the past few years signed many prominent players such as Francis Ouma and Mrisho Ngassa. Blackberry will be payed a monthly salary of Ksh 168,000 per month. The contract length is two years. He will join another Kenyan Ibrahim Shikanda.

I know ultimately Blackberry will one day return to where he belongs (Gor Mahia). However, the Kshs 168,000/- is still a good deal for him and we do hope he’ll not stay in bench as it happened in Rangers FC of Denmark so that he can regain his form quickly.

First of all, allow me to congratulate George ‘Blackberry ‘ Odhiambo for another strategic move to Azam of Tanzania. The entire K’Ogalo family is extremely proud of this latest development in your football career. I don’t even want to speculate how much you were offered at Azam.

Dr Myles Munroe, a world reknowned motivation speaker while speaking on a topic on leadership and vision said Successful men do not look for money; they purse their dreams. Bill gates, he said was once elected chairman of Microsoft but only lasted two months. He said he wanted to be in the lab. That is where he belongs. Men pursue dreams and not money.

George, I know you remain a role model to the many youths out there who looks after you for inspiration. Randers FC at Denmark, despite not being fielded offered you great lessons that I hope informed your decision to sign for Azam. I take this early opportunity to wish you all the best at Azam. K’Ogalo will continue to be a leader in nurturing football talents and guide them untill they realise their dreams. Blackberry is one such talent.

I think the decision to sign for Azam seems correct rather than coming back directly to your former club, once considered professional footballer its better to join professional team to restore your dignity.Tanzania is near to your homeland and you can make your own developments easier.

  • Am happy for the boy Kshs.0.168 million is good money and i think Kogalo must now learn that to get Blackberry’s caliber of players that is the kind of money they are expected to pay that is the kind of standard we have in Big teams and Gor is a big team so i think that is some kind of a challenge coz personally i was dying to see the boy in green and white.

Ksh.168,000 pm is like dreams at GOR where they pay their player an average of a meagre ksh.20,000 pm. So Blackberry made the right decision!

we are looking for those days that we’ll celebrate good form of the boy. Back at Gor would have been equally good though lesser pay. Odhis is disciplined and will be great after rediscovering his winning boots.check what sturridge is doing at Chelsea.
