Reports: Jackson Saleh switches to Gor Mahia

In a bid to shore up the central defence department which has been paper thin, Gor Mahia have signed AFC Leopards defender Jackson Saleh. Since the Liberian Dirkir Glay left in August of last season, Gor Mahia have had to improvise by playing Innocent Wafula and Eric Ochieng in central defence with mixed results.

Gor Mahia team manager Jolawi Obondo confirmed the move.

“Saleh has been training with us from yesterday and he will be a good addition to the squad due to his experience” said Obondo to futaa.com

Obondo also said that they have already received a release letter from AFC Leopards.

On Monday, Gor Mahia had denied that they were interested in Saleh.

“Those are just rumors. We have not expressed any interest in signing him. Currently we are working with the players we have on board” said Ronald Ngala when asked whether the club was pursuing Saleh.

In 2014, Saleh was rumoured to be very interested in joining Gor Mahia and some outlets even reported that he had signed. He was later convinced by AFC officials to remain at the club.

Saleh has played at Harambee stars alongside Musa Mohamed. Before playing for AFC, he was at Western Stima.

If so Nuttal must let Saleh know that it is not netball. Otherwise welcome from den to home. By the way where is your brother Wanyonyi?

Wanyonyi opted for Tusker. It’s unfortunate ingwe is dying a slow and painful death. How I wish the sponsor comes in aid of ingwe and Gor. Bandari and Tusker are corporate teams which don’t bring the excitement to Kenya soocer.
Personally,i like Saleh. Just like Shakava he has an eye for goal and is good in aerial duels. I think he is a better addidtion than Cheche who wanted a six month contract to be fit for the trails in Europe. Bayisenge, the Rwandese defender also just like Tuyisenge has voiced his admiration for Gor and would like to join some day.

That shows that we have golden egg which we must protect by all means

Gor Mahia and AFC should stop dreaming about sponsorship. We will likely not get sponsors anytime soon. Siasa mbaya.

These teams should focus on other methodologies for raising money. We have various initiatives that are just sitting moribund.

    • It is not correct to term this kind of money as sponsorship…but let me tell u more. Afc must win the league in 2016. That is what this money is for, not only for players but also for referees.

      • Pongezi Mashemeji. But Gor and AFC need more than than 30m in a year. Let us pray for AFC; we need a strong AFC and Gor Mahia to spice up KPL

Am happy for AFC if what has been reported is true.No true fan of the game in kenya wants to see clubs and players suffer.I hope Gor can achieve the same feat…it will make the 2016 league very competitive and healthy!!

  • The same Betting company which is rumoured to have sponsored AFC had been said previously to be targeting both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards. Waiting to see what happens next…. Otherwise quick recovery and welcome back Khalid Aucho.
