Gor Mahia sign deal with Two Rivers
Gor Mahia have signed a deal with Two Rivers Development that allows the club to use the facilities owned by Two Rivers

The move will see the local heavyweights use the company’s Sports District facilities during their training sessions for the new season
Gor Mahia have secured a partnership deal with Two Rivers Development Limited which will see the Kenyan Premier League champions get a training ground.
The Green Army have been training at the facility located along the Limuru Road for the last couple of days and the deal has now been officialised. The partnership will see Gor Mahia use the ground for their 2020/21 season preparations.
“I commend Two Rivers Development Limited for partnering with Gor Mahia FC and offering them the mall’s Sports District for use as their training ground this season,” Gor Mahia’s patron Raila Odinga said during the Friday unveiling ceremony.
“I urge more corporate entities to support local sports teams especially the community clubs.”
It is the second deal K’Ogalo have signed ahead of the new season as they have already entered into a shirt sponsorship deal with Betsafe.
Gor Mahia were the first KPL side allowed to train by the government given they have Caf champions League assignments coming soon. They have also learned the first five teams they will face when the Football Kenya Premier League will probably start next month.
K’Ogalo will face Tusker and the tie is one of the matches that have been scheduled to take place on the season-opening day on November 20.
The second match for Oliveira ‘Robertinho’ Goncalves’ side will be against the 2010 league champions Ulinzi Stars on November 28.
Gor Mahia will entertain the 2008 Kenyan Premier League winners Mathare United on December 4 in what will be their third league match of the season.
The Green Army will then host former league champions Sofapaka at a home match on December 9.
On December 13, the record league champions will travel to face debutants Bidco United in a game that will be expected to start at 16:15.
Gor Mahia’s fixtures are expected to be subjected to further amendments as they will also take part in the Caf Champions League tournament which will kick off later in the year.
The 19-time league winners have been training in Nairobi in the last couple of weeks in preparation, especially for the continental competition.
They are now under a new coach – Goncalves Oliveira, who previously was in charge of Rayon Sports – after Steven Polack took a holiday and later confirmed his resignation after a season with the club.
Given the fixtures will come thick and fast, it is expected to test their capability of defending the league title as well as mounting an advanced Champions League campaign.
Win win if Gor Mahia can do well in CAF, then it will promote 2 Rivers Ltd on the continent and even go for an improved, or extension of the, deal.
Get it right on the footballing front ( i.e win matches/ titles) and the rest will follow.
Perform dismally and 2 Rivers Ltd will quietly withdraw from the deal.
Obuya don’t be too quick to pre-empt what 2 rivers will do if Gor perform poorly. Contracts have a time duration and are honored to the end(more often than not).
So if they do not perform well it does not necessarily mean that the sponsors will withdraw.
How many teams in the league still have their main sponsors inspite of their poor performances?
Let’s not also put undue pressure to the team that they must perform or they face certain consequences!!
Gor Mahia FC is on the right path and may attract more corporate sponsors and endorsement if the fan base and registered members of K’Ogalo can support the Executive Management Committee to transform registration of the club by dual registration into a Society and as a Company Limited by shares so that Gor Mahia FC Company Limited can raise funds intetnationally from the fan base as shareholders initially by private placement, and later through rights issue through the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) like European clubs do.
As a well capitalized Company, the club would be run and managed as a business under the Companies Act, and attract some of the best soccer stars from across the African continent and take Gor Mahia FC to greater heights which has eluded us since we won Mandela Cup. This way, soccer in the country will also be developed as our youngsters will be able to access good training facilities and playtime with other strong players. Only then shall a new and reformed Gor Mahia FC have capacity financially and not only attract but also retain talented soccer stars from Kenya and across Africa, which will be good for soccer development in Kenya from our youngsters.
It is time club supporters and registered members appreciated that soccer as a top sport is a business, and business is about money! Money follows money! You cannot expect corporate sponsors and fan base to put their money where it will sink year after year. We cannot keep doing the same thing every year and expect a change. Yet the club has brought together a mix of the best and dedicated Management Committee ever.
Gor Mahia FC support base and Management must seize the opportunity to breakaway from the past and become professional. But K’Ogalo cannot achieve this unless it attracts capital, yet money only follows money! The support base and members must stop seeing Gor Mahia FC as an ethnic body, but as a sports giant that brings together soccer lovers from across the world.
Only selfish supporters will look at such a reformed and rejuvenated Gor Mahia FC as some people’s private property. We can do it! Let Chairman Ambrose Rachier and Secretary Ochola rise up to the occasion and make transformation of Gor MahiaFC be your legacy.
May as many who want a strong and financially endowed Club say YES now! The ayes have it. Yes, we can do it.
