AC Leopards in fine form as Kogalo line up friendly

Gor Mahia certainly have their work cut out this Sunday when they take on Congo-Brazzaville side AC Leopards this Sunday at Nyayo stadium.

AC leopards returned from their training stint in Cameroon last week and have played two league matches since then. On March 4, they destroyed fourth placed Etoile Du Congo by a score of 4-0. Etoile were the country’s representatives in this years CAF Confederations cup.

AC Leopards who are popularly known as the Fauves Niari scored their goals through Junior Makiesse, Davy Dimitri Bissiki Magnokélé, Rudy Guelord Bhebey Ndey and Perci Akoli. In the next match played on March 9, the Fauves Niari beat Tongo FC 1-0.

They are now placed second in the Congo-Brazzaville standings behind Inter club of Brazzaville.

Gor Mahia will have their work cut out as they try to contain the Congolese side that is busy sharpening its blades in the Congolese league whereas unfortunately, the Kenyan league has been at a standstill thanks to Sam Nyamweya, Robert Asembo and their silly antics.

Friendlies

With the league at a standstill, Gor Mahia have been playing a series of friendly matches to stay sharp. On Sunday they tied Ulinzi to a scoreless draw. On Tuesday March 10, Gor Mahia have lined up another friendly against Posta Rangers. According to the club site, the match will kick off at 4pm and admissions into the stadium will attract a flat rate charge of Ksh. 200/= for both the V.I.P and terraces.

  • “Remember there is a 50% Statutory Deduction.”

It is a fact that deductions for stadium hire, security i.e the so called statutory deductions total upto to between 35 and 50% of the gross gate collections. This is true even in Tanzania.
So when advocating for exorbitant match ticket prices e.g kshs.5,000 bob remember GMFC will never see 50% i.e kshs.2,500.of it.

My proposal is that EC galvanizes and mobilizes members (preferably through a Sacco) to contribute a monthly membership fee of between 250-500 monthly which will not BE SUBJECT TO 50% STATUTORY DEDUCTIONS.
This will greatly boosted the club’s revenues.

Then have 2 prices for match days. Kshs.1,000 VIP for non-members and kshs.450 for members. With the terraces have kshs.150 for members and kshs.300 for non- members.
Again I repeat give members privileges in the stadium e.g as to entry and vantaged seating positions.
With feelings GMFC is worth 5,000 but objectively for a club that has never reached the group stages of CAF tournaments that’s overpricing ourselves.
We need fans (20,000 to 25,000) in the stadium to motivate the players, This is what markets the club. We need fans to attend as many matches as possible and this will only happen by offering discount prices and privileges to members.
With prices pegged at 150bob a fan will attend and cheer the team for games instead of 2 games at 300bob.
Membership and Sacco is the only option for GMFC before the financial bubble burst and I hope my friend Ingo is listening for its the only way to salvage their team. Who knew Mumias who go burst.

    • Correction “With prices pegged at 150bob a member will attend and cheer the team for 2 games instead of 1 game at 300bob. If this member pays for 3months membership in advance the club will have collected between kshs.750-kshs.1,500 (depending on the monthly membership/Sacco fee) from this member without 50% being deducted as ‘statutory deduction”.

Even if we start with 200 members this thing will GROW.

Membership and Sacco is the only option for GMFC before the financial bubble bursts “big time” and I hope my friend Ingo is listening for its the only way to salvage their team also. Who knew Mumias who go burst?

WHEN WILL THE BEGGING (FOR GRANTS) STOP COME WANA K’GALO SHOW SOME PRIDE.

Lest I forget All best Mighty Gor Mahia,

Odour12…finally somebody who is in sync with me.By overprice just coz its an international game you will be locking out thousands of fans from the stadium and raising attendance in armchair fans.
Lower gate charges…attract more fans…give extra motivation to players.Which player wants to play in an empty stadium??and we keep wondering why we have low gate collection!!c’mon!!!

This is very informative as well as comforting. Despite grave situation that is currently prevailing, It is encouraging to see that Kogalo is not taking it laying low. This friendlies will not go dawn in vain. As you have alluded to Nyamweya and the team’s action at this time, it is such a sad affair and am sure where ever he is I hope that he is regretting. It is amazing that our team is even still strong mentally. As AC prepares we are also doing the same and may our team always remain positive. You have a fan base that is standing by your side in sickness and in health, for richer for poor until there will be money on board.

Oduor 12 and Mwkio, I appreciate your insight and vision for this club. This Sacco thing is the best option we have to ensure we have a healthy liquidity ratio. This is not my area.Is there away we can experiment it with bloggers on this site? What are the bottlenecks (legal and otherwise)we are likely to face?Let us give it a try.

In primary school, I used to watch these games at a social hall in Eldoret. The TV room was always packed with spectators. Zama hizo there was nobody interested in English premier league. It was all local football.
