Nuttall speaks on Aucho injury

Coach Frank Nuttall is cautiously optimistic that midfielder Khalid Aucho will heal on time to play the Africa Champions league first round match against AC Leopards of Congo-Brazzaville. Aucho picked up a hamstring injury during the weekend friendly against Ulinzi Stars.

“From the way I saw it did not look serious. I had to pull him out of the game as a precautionary measure,” said Nuttall to supersport.com

The combative midfielder has played well during his time at the club winning balls and delivering inch perfect passes such as the one that led to Ali Abondo’s opening goal in the Supercup match against Sofapaka.

“We need Aucho fit for the Champions League clash. He is one big player we cannot afford to do without. It is my hope that he will recover in time,” continued Nuttall

Gor Mahia have a very thin squad. According to Chairman Rachier, only 20 players were registered for CAF duty which leaves Nuttall worried.

“We need all that players now. We cannot afford any injuries,” he said.

    • You are spot on Fred.
What’s the point of high ticket prices only for low amounts to be collected at the end of the day with the usual large VIP crowd vs low gate collection disparity.
Why not charge VIP at 500bob & get 4,000 fans, 200bob for terracces & get 20,000 fans to raise a total of Kshs.6million.
Its part of mobilization & knowing the ability of the club’s fan base.
Its been proven that GM fans will talk big but with very little follow through on money matters.
      Quick recovery Aucho.

  • I will be there ….make it even 2000 bob VIP ! we have to support the boys they can easily pull a shocker judging by the Congolese style of plays – aggressive . physically and very direct.

Secondly, NUTALL may just need to consult with our Rwandese wingbacks ,on the strategy to adopt, the wingbacks were involved when AC leopards drew 0-0 away with rayon sport and drew 2-2 in CAF Kigali this time last year (2014).

  • For international match, Kshs.1000 is too little. Let us all be serious for our club. Some of us are will to make monthly contribution if the Executive Committee can come up with better receipts and accountability. All the monies should go to the club account.

  • VIP should be ksh5000. We can afford it. It is only once in a long while when we have such opportunities to support our club during international matches.

  • I THINK WE NEED TO BE EALISTIC, WHY CHARGE EXORBITANTLY THEN GET FEW FANS AT SUCH A CRUCIAL TIME THAT WE NEED BOTH MONEY AND BIG TURN OUTA. THIS IS ONE AREA IN WHICH GMFC NEEDS STATEGIC PLANNING AND MARKETING

On money matters a lot has been said especially with regard to the EC being challenged to come up with better ways, with some also accusing them of not being good managers. If this is so hard, I would suggest that just like fans raised money last year with the EC’s touch why don’t we do this permanently so that we have the comfort of managing it. This will help us to know how much is coming in and how much is being spent. I think we will also have the freedom to cut out some things that we feel we can lift from the EC and in this way there will be continuity and stability. It is just a thought and if it is possible, what is the modality?
