Tusker FC have made it to the 2014 Top 8 tourney after forcing Gor mahia to 1-1 draw in the Top 8 semi final match played at the City Stadium

Substitute Jesse Were scored the equalizing  in the 54th minute  to cancel out Rama Salim third minute  goal with the  proving crucial in handing  Tusker a 2-1 overall  win to make it to the finals.

Gor mahia  playing at home made known their intention early  stunning Tusker with an early  third minute goal after  short corner from Timonah  wanyonyi to   Godfrey Walusimgi, saw the Ugandan  lift up a  left foot cross in to the Tusker danger zone to find unmarked Rama  salim who latched onto the ball with a sliding kick  to fire K’ogallo ahead.

Tusker’s Clifford Alwanga saw header going wide from   a left wing cross from in Tusker first attack at goal in the 12minute.

In the 18th minute Sserunkuma’s one two touches with Rama  almost made it two for Gor as the Ugandan  followed through  Rama’s pass but  was denied by  an incoming Samuel Odhiambo in Tusker goal.

The 24th minute witnessed Brian Osumba picking  up a poor clearance from Gor defence before shooting  from outside box, his shot  rattling  the post to go  out of play.

Tusker came close again in the 31st minute with a low through pass from Osborne Monday through pass finding Osumba who was cut out  to safety by a sliding David Owino.

Gor last chance of the first half occurred after Rama cross from left was poorly cleared by Omar to find  a free  Geofrey Kizito in the Tusker’s  box but the Ugandan took too much time for recovering Tusker defence block his effort back into the pitch.

The second half started with both teams play dominated at the centre of the pitch with occasional unsuccessful breaks towards goals .

Tusker coach Kimanzi opted for early offensive change bringing in forward Jesse Were for Andrew Tololwa with 51 minute .played

The new entrant  needed only  three minutes to put his name on the score sheet.

The forward picked up by Clifford Alwanga’s  pass  before racing  towards  Gor Mahia box to fire in a low powerful shot beating Jerim onyango at goal to land in the far low corner of the  net  for an equalizer.

The striker came knocking again in the 55th minute after sprinting forward to meet Alwanga’s pass yet again before beating a incoming, out of his  box Jerim Onyango  but  tumbled down, losing his balance allowing Mohammed  Musa to clear the recovery for a Tusker corner.

Rama Salim thought to have brought K’ogal lo back into the match in the 56th minute. The striker clever  chip from Kengas’s cross  beating Tusker goalie Odhiambo but was flagged  to be offside.

The match pace later on diminished  as Gor resorted to long balls from own half to the other with but unable to penetrate with Tusker on their part maintaining possession by moving the ball back and forth with  time fast elapsing.

Bobby Williamson changes in the 67th minute bringing in Herbert Kopany,Kevin Omondi  and George Odhaimbo for Sserunkuma, Wanyonyi and Kenga were all futile as Tusker defence increased their watch cutting out K’ogallo subsequent attacks at goal.

Gor Baba Kizito booking with 5 minute to play was followed a by  delay of the match as what seems to be   fans disruption before the encounert resumed  four minutes later.

The three added minutes to play proved not enough to  provide Gor with an opportunity to save their quest for the finals  as the  home side fell out of the Cup competition  in similar fashion as the previous year.

  • Eliminated from 2 cups, 3 more to fight for…….it’s going to be tough but we can manage. BW is yet to win any trophy for the club as the bulk of last year was the work of logarusic and most importantly , to beat tusker fc.

Time will indeed test him to the fullest.

  • We need to bolster our midfield. We midfielders are too slow when we lose balls. We could have won this game but as usual the goal came via Walusimbis side. we are also not giving some players time to rest.

  • Bobby kindly strategies how to cover Walusimbi when he‘s overlapping and we will be home.It was a tough match that could have gone either way. Kudos boys we will leave to fight another day and let‘s now concentrate on retaining the league. Our referees too need to up their game and stop biased officiating as they create unnecessary tension.

Jakoyo, Does a coach need to beat Tusker to prove his worth? Top Fry beat us but the three points still keep them in the basement. I didn’t watch the game due to job commitments but the praise i heard from the commentators on our offensive means that we are still the team to beat. I thought we said that BW winning six consecutive games was the thing. And that has already been done. We need to comment BW for having the guts to field the youngsters in such a game. It’s quite impressive. We now need to prepare for the derby but the goons seem to be back. While they even have problems registering as gor members or using the paybill number they now want us to be fined, yet we are as broke as the church mouse. Nobody will care that the ref was underpar. It will just be that we don’t want to lose a match. Too bad for the club, the players, the law-abiding fans and scares off potential sponsors.

  • @ dan original, I will respond to your concern because you have some sense between your ears and don’t need parental advisory to post comments on this site, shame on others who criticize other peoples opinions! Who are you to do so? …………you see BW biggest weakness is his inability to quick read games , make changes and counter the opponent. Am saying this quite frankly because the last 6 or 7 games we won was the formation of having 3 central defender and we played like that for 90 mins with our best players ….where is the bench power ?

Come tusker, well they have very good offensive players and can run and hold the ball very well. Their bench power is equally good. Tusker ‘s coach is very good , he plays to his strength all the time, does not much rely on formation and best players unlike gor Mahia.

Now that we have 3 trophies to fight for , I believe our priority shall be the league and the kagame cup hopefully we can win 2 out of 5 trophies and that is a score of 40 percent which is good with the challenges that we are facing and the likelihood of loosing our best players in the transfer window.

NOte: BW for gotv cup my advice to you is to utilize plan B and give a chance to the fringe players. Let gotv cup not be our priority this season ! Please I beg you!

  • The boys played well and should have won if we would have taken our first-half chances. We must also not lose the fact that some of the referee’s decision in the 2nd half contributed directly to Gor Mahia losing concentration. That level of inconsistency at this level is quite appalling. The fans must also be reminded that they must stop Their unwelcome habit of blowing whistles from every direction hence confusing players. I watched in disgust as our players momentarily lost concentration because of the aimless and confusing whistles from the crowd. All in all the boys gave their best as exemplified by David Owino and Walusimbi’s constant drives forward. The team applied and acquitted themselves so well and there is nothing to fear moving forward from here. Kopany Herbert offers us fresh hope that we may just have unearthed a gem. He must be played regularly as he looks to hve the attributes that out forward lines have been missing. Unleash the boy on efusi on Sunday and watch him destroy them.

  • Le pastre and Jakoyo, thumbs up. I want to add on the object throwers, can we marshall ourselves once again against these hooligans? I believe what happened to one of them at center stage stage would be a good lesson.
Hooliganism by its best definition is No in Gor.
Lets continue supporting the team. And by the way no one seem to nother updating us on how much 350100 has raised so far. This id where the EC fails us.

  • I can see that KPL is very very competitive. Most of the local players play much better than some of the overrated foreign players.

  • what we shud avoid @ all cost is critisizing the team. What we shud always do is to motivate them by encouraging them to win the next match . Even if they loose the next game , we shud tell them to focus on the next game.

Guys the paybill number is still active. And I also hope that we have now registered as members. Waiting for the office to motivate us to do anything is like waiting for a derailed train. It will remain there until the engineers (us) do something.
Our office does not need to be told that we are sitting on a goldmine to assist the team in terms of financial stability. We should be proactive else we lose Wanyonyi, Kenga and the rest of the team during this transfer period.
