The federation insists they will not allow power vacuum at K’Ogalo despite disruption of elections and that status quo remains until crisis is solved

Football Kenya Federation has said it will not allow a power vacuum at champions Gor Mahia after the club’s elections were disrupted on Sunday.

The federation has therefore, stated that the status quo will remain meaning that club chairman Ambrose Rachier and his executive continue in office.

“We as a federation cannot allow a vacuum in the leadership of any club to prevail. We therefore, after
consultation with the government and in accordance with Fifa statutes and the statutes of the federation mandate you (Ambrose Rachier) and your office bearers, who were serving until Sunday, more particularly when you are facing a continental campaign next year to remain in office and continue to run the affairs of the club up to January 30, 2014.

“We further direct you and your office to put in place machinery for the conduct of free and fair elections of the office bearers of the club in accordance with the sports act, the constitution of Kenya, the FKF statutes and Fifa statutes before January 30, 2014.

“We are investigating the whole issue and will come up with an appropriate way forward,” FKF President Sam Nyamweya told Goal.

The elections were disrupted after rival factions failed to agree on modalities of carrying out the exercise leading to violence and distraction of voting materials.

‘The elections were disrupted when rival factions failed to agree on the modalities of carrying out the exercise’. Was there any electoral board to to draw the modalities? So what was the composition of the board? Who constituted it? Then are we talking about elections or what? Modalities decided on the election day & at the poll center?

  • STATUS QUO REMAIN ORDER LAUDIBLE

I personally welcome the status quo to remain order made by the Football Kenya Federation ( FKF) following the disruption of the Annual General Meeting of Gor Mahia held on Sunday by some alleged disgruntled members of the club. FKF, by all definition a pale shadow of its former self. Look at the way they organized the GOTv CECAFA SENIOR CHALLENGE CUP 2013. We were treated to a lot of drama as hotels detain players and officials for hours over unpaid bills. And it seem the ‘ tunaomba serikali’ has been perfected by FKF. They literally went to the counties of Machakos, Mombasa, Nakuru and Kisumu, begging. The U-20 side taking part in COSAFA tournament have also staged a stay away protests over unpaid allowances. They have failed completely to innovate new ways to get fans to the stadia instead they joined the chorus of criticizing Kenyans for the love for the English Premier League more than their local league.

We have been given another chance to try and conduct free, fair and credible elections. The gigantic task is now in the shoulders of AR and his team to put together structures that acceptable by all the parties. I propose that Adede and his team should from now henceforth be involved throughout the process in order for the elections not just be free but also seen to be free and fair.

As for those of you who are criticizing our decision to abscond from voting, in a way you are right. It is only by fully taking part in all the club processes we can claim we are loyal
Supporters of Gor Mahia. On the other hand, we fear for our lives. We also love to be civil from the way we conduct ourselves. We also jealously guard our names. Some of you don’t .

Make no mistake. We are here to stay. We joined K’Ogalo by choice and we are also proud to be associated with this great club. I personally know that a a section of our fans are normally high on something, but when I hear them sing out the anthem of our club adorning the famous green and white jersey, I forget it for a while. The fun in the club is just too sweet to miss. The sipirit in the club unbroken by anything. That is why , even after a 18 year spell, our dream remain resolute.

This is a welcome move. Please prepare the team and within this short term, put at least minimal infrastructure in place.

We are behind you Mr. Chairman.

  • I propose that we change the club constitution b4 we call 4r another election. I want bloggers to think about this proposal. Let us change the constitution to elect the club president together with his duputy & then mandate the club president to apoint a CEO who will conduct the day to day activities of the club. The club president shud be able to hire & fire the CEO if he thinks he is not performing accordingly. If we will not change the constitution then we will not expect any good elections.
