Francis Mustafa Departs

Mustafa celebrates after scoring against KCCA in the 2018 CECAFA club cup

Burundian striker Francis Mustafa has left Kogalo. This according to a statement from the club.

“Burundian (Francis) Mustafa parts ways with Gor Mahia on a mutual agreement. We thank you for your time at the club and contribution towards success at all levels,”

Mustafa joined Gor Mahia prior to the 2018 CECAFA club cup and scored on his first appearance. However the rest of his scoring record was sparse , finding the net only 3 times during the 2018-2019 season.

Mustafa who featured prominently for Burundi at the 2019 AFCON, was in a difficult position since Gor Mahia has recenty signed three foreign strikers thus putting pressure on the foreign quota.

Gor Mahia sign Kennedy Otieno

Gor Mahia have signed yet another striker, Kennedy Otieno who was signed from Western Stima.

“He is here at Gor Mahia already and will be unveiled soon. The club wants to tap into his experience as it embarks on the defence of the title next season,” a source close to the club has told goal.com

The 30 year old Otieno, whose nickname is “Agogo” is vastly experienced. He joined Thika United in 2010, then SoNy Sugar, then Thika again, Posta Rangers and finally Western Stima.

  • Yajowa, Kennedy otieno to oa kure ? For a striker who has never scored more than 5 goals for the last 10 seasons , brokers must be having a field day !!

Kennedy is a case of local player who shunned Gor through his better years finding a retirement home, best remembered for denying us the title in 2012 while playing for Thika. Why now? As for Mustapha, bye bye and good luck, apparently Gor proved too big for you.

  • So we release BlackBerry to Tusker then sign Agogo. Are we really upgrading? I will always respect decisions made by our scouting and transfer departments but sometimes their decisions make me wonder. What value will he add to Gor Mahia? Those who have followed his game know there is not much he brings to Gor Mahia. As for Mustapha his going is very good news to me. He is one of the players i really wanted to leave Gor for reasons I repeatedly aired on this same blog. Sometimes wishes come true. Thank God for this pleasant news

This signing does not sound right. Unless someone can explain to me the rationale behind it

Didn’t we all say we wanted strikers, and experienced ones at that? Didn’t we say you can’t win CECAFA or CAF with kids? Maybe we as fans are the ones smoking what we are accusing Jasego and co.of smoking.
I beileve Agogo will do justice to Gor. As of now Batambuze is the only left footed player in the team after Kahata left.So the offensive left will have an experienced player.Having scored against Gor to deny us the trophy in 2012 was part of his job and as a professional he just had to do that. It happens in Europe where players score and defeat the team they are contracted to join in the next season

An experienced striker who cannot score more than 5 goals in a year is not the kind of striker we wanted. An experience which cannot to be translated into goals is of no use to an established team like Gor Mahia.

Gor may be forced to host the CAF champs match against the Burundians in Somalia.Goal reports that kasarani is fully booked by Kenya police for a regional event from 24th to 25thAugust. Kismayu stadium is considered to be more convenient than Mogadishu.

Mustafa, we the playing unit enjoyed every minute with you. Do not listen to the noise from the terrace people who have never played soccer one day in their life. You are a Star bro and remember what I told you

Migne is a strange one. Forget about him. Remember he never picked Allan Wanga and Jesse Were for Afcon in Egypt last month.

Dennis odhiambo for what? We have better players within our ranks and who will give us more years going forward. Dennis is 34 going 35..before he settles in Gor he will be 38..why disturb the man at his sunset years surely? Why?

As Gor Mahia, we need strikers plenty of them so that they can work hard to earn a place in 1st 11. Ken seems to be bulky, we had problem pushing & controling the big bodied arabs. Do not put him off. For Mustafa its a good riddance, he struggled the whole year.

  • who’s signing this mediocre players for got mahia…i suspect Rachier has decided to destroy gor now that he’s quitting…history will judge him harshly…with all due respect we can’t sign 3 players from a below average team like western stima…let the season begin…ngwech ochimo ji..this the worst gor mahia squad for the past 7yrs…

I never knew that the search for a striker would turn out to be so desperate and mind-boggling. Much the same like rocket science. Is the transfers and shuffles fast turning into a game of musical chairs? Are we digging the ground so hard for treasure only to end up with earthworms? We talk about experience interms of years and forget about quality, depth and character. Time we inject proffessionalism in how we handle our affairs. Have we gotten all-out strikers who can score consistently. Much of the drama remains to be seen and the jury will be drawing first blood at the end of the season. The youngstars could have been what the doctor recomended. Agogo, the veteran kpl ball jagler, we need to see u shaking opponent nets flamboyantly. During the clamour to remove former president moi from power, we didn’t know that we removed moi only to replace him with another moi. The optimist in me tell me that gor’s newbies are above board.

@player you are still around? Good luck. What did you tell Francis? “that you will take Gor to Nyasi or what?” All the best Mustafa – the world knows you once played for Mighty Gor. You are efinitely better that the fans who “once made noise, threw stones, insulted player for which there are no records”

  • I have never seen Agogo but my Two cents is maybe at worse he will be alike for like replacement of Mustapha
