Gor Mahia cancel Sudan trip

Gor Mahia were due to travel to Sudan on Thursday to play Al Hilal, the Sudanese giants. However the trip was canceled due to insecurity.

“We regret to inform you the friendly match scheduled between Gor Mahia and Al Hilal of Sudan will not take place because news reaching us at this time, violent protests have erupted in the capital against the Sudanese government. ” a statement said according to goal.com

Sudan has been engulfed in violent protests for several months so its not clear why anyone thought this was a good idea.

“This situation is not safe, and the volatility of the issue has informed the decision to postpone the match. We shall give more information at much later date on when and where this match will take place.”

Gor Mahia beat Al Hilal 1-0 in 2016 thanks to a goal from Enock Agwanda who converted a cross from Eric Ouma. In 2017, Al Hilal avenged the defeat, beating Kogalo by the same score.

Earlier, Al Hilal had requested to come to Nairobi; why were they not welcomed? Why always Al Hilal? Why not Rayon or Power Dynamos or even Zesco? Why not SC Villa or Simba or KCCA?

This friendly was a very good idea. It was a good opportunity for trying out the combination of the West African wonderboys and young and very promising talents. That it has aborted is disappointing.

True BB.. However, we need to move with speed and arrange other high profile friendlies to gauge the new players and help them gel before CAF matches begin.

We play next week so it’s practically impossible to arrange an international friendly. Thanks to CECAFA we got adequate international exposure. For now we can play fellow KPL teams or even NSL to gauge our strength or practise the formations

What is that? Ati no venue for CAf fixture, laughable. Than only happens in this magical country called Kenya where things happen in strange ways. What about Kisumu stadium?
