Gor Mahia destroy Muhoroni Youth

Courtesy of supersport.com

Gor Mahia regained pole position in the Tusker Premier League in style with a 4-0 thrashing of Muhoroni Youth at City Stadium on Sunday.

Top scorer Dan Sserunkuma scored a hatrick as Mighty K’Ogalo responded to Leopards’ 4-2 victory over Mathare United on Saturday by producing their biggest win of the season infront of a partisan crowd.

It was Gor’s eighth win on the bounce and another victory against Thika United next Saturday will see the green army win their first title since 1995.

Sserunkuma gave Gor the perfect start with a goal inside the opening 45 seconds. The Ugandan latched onto a low cross from the right from Ali Abondo and gave it a deft touch to lift it above the Muho goalkeeper Joseck Gathongo for the opener.

Muhoroni Youth, with nothing much to play for, made forays forward with great composure but the final touch badly let them down as Gor defenders kept them at bay.

On 25 minutes the home side was caught on the wrong foot after Serunkuma picked a poor clearance and lobbed Gathongo from 25 yards with a screamer.

Gor returned in the second period re-energised and needed just four minutes to add a third to their day’s tally; Christopher Wekesa stayed forward to head home a Moses Odhiambo cross after a corner, beating an exposed Gathongo from close range.

With the lead intact, Gor seemed content to pass the ball around as they awaited the final whistle, but were almost made to pay when Collins Neto stole in on 68 minutes with a header that hit the post and sailed clear.

With six minutes to go, Gor surged forward again with Sserunkuma the key architect and after a fine string of passes where he cut in well to wrong foot Gregory Nyapala, then picked the far post for his third of the game and Gor Mahia’s fourth.

The win means Gor reclaim the top spot with 58 points after 29 matches while Muhoroni stay 14th with 27 after a similar number of matches.

May it be done acording to the will of God, not our will. I support @3 Jakamollo that we do smthing for our players after lifting this trophy.

And no one will stop us. Dani scored some spectacular goals today, can’t wait to watch the repeat of the match. And yes, let’s appreciate the boys with some bonuses. All these wins will amount to nothing if the next game is not won. Keep your cool. Meanwhile, there’s need to sensitise the fans to ensure their are civil and controlled in their cellebrations. We dont want to hear of people getting treatment at so and so hospital or people packed at a certain motuary in the name of cellebrating a football win. Be careful guys!!!!

They say a picture is worth one thousand words. What message were the boys conveying with the way they celebrated the second goa? The punishment they had in store for Muhoroni?

It is disappointing that Muhoroni did not put up a brave fight. Their minds were clouded with the millions they were going to rake in. But they learnt their lesson and will never dare play around with the Mighty Gor Mahia.

Something to woryy about: was that Sserunkumma’s 5th yellow card? Hope not because we need him in the NEXT MATCH. With us we only want to win the next match.

@Barefoot Bandit, i concure with you on your comment but the football rule on yellowcard is, if you pick five yellow cards in five consecutive matches then you miss one game and if you pick ten accumulative yellow cards within a season then that is like a red card. So im not sure if Dany fall in any of those brackets. Anyway i was realy happy yesterday and i know ill be much happier on Sarto.

All the leading newspapers here in diaspora have reported about Dani Serunkuma’s hatrick. They are wondering what their national team coach looks for in a player. They cannot understand why Dani is not in the Cranes team. He would have made a difference for them against Zambia. One paper is asking in its sport commentary page, whether it is the size that Coach Williamson looks for. It goes a head to remind him that Dani and Messi are almost the same size.

Well done boys, the team work paid but Dan deserves a special place. He will overtake Baraza for the golden boot come Saturday. How comes we still dont have a nick name for this star? What about a song in praise of Loga? TM can you please clarify on the yellow cards issue. Otherwise my octopus tells me the cup is for GM coz on 10th: Tusky 0 CS 1, Efusi 2 Chemelil 2,GM Sirkal 2 Thika 1.

  • As we celebrate we should remember that the shopping season is almost here. What is the status of our players contracts?

We lost our favourite son last season to Ingwe. We lost Blackberry the season before to Randers. Watu wa ofisi, please help us retain all our top talents this time. If not, we should collect serious money from their transfers. Tusker made 4.2 million from the sale of Brian Mandela to a second tier team (Santos) in South Africa.

We are still not able to compete with top African teams in terms of cash and we all saw the Sofapaka coach abandoning them after a few matches. Whatever deals made should be above board and of good value and not like Blackberry’s.

    Special Tribute to Zdvarko Logarusic.

While his technical/coaching skills are much appreciated I would like to salute Head Coach Logarusic for his very exceptional administrative skills which has contributed in a large part to Mighty K’galo being in this enviable position of almost lifting the 2012 TPL League.I will mention but a few measures taken by Mr.Log that have not only put K’galo at the top but also saved our club quite a bit of money.
1.Reducing the playing unit to a manageable abt 25 players instead of the expensive 35 squad.
2.K’galo has topped the table and won the top 8 cup without the expensive residential training. Efusi camped for 2 weeks b4 our last match.
3.Keeping the players united and the EC off the playing unit.EVERY PLAYER NOW KNOWS ITS AN HONOUR TO PUT THE K’GALO JERSEY
4.Appreciating the role of FANS in the club.HE RIGHTLY REFERS TO K’GALO AS A BIG TEAM COZ OF THE FANS.

Finally I also salute the Sir Bob and the rest of the technical bench, the playing unit and we the FANS as we await to lift the trophy and then as Coach Log starts strategising for CECAFA, continental soccer. Expect big things/surpises.

The final match becomes more tricky since we will be too curious and under pressure. Let us remain calm and get this trophy. If we play attacking football like we did yesterday then we will have it easy and ‘those’ AFC fans will again say ‘mmepewa mechi’. We played so well then so many opposing fans are saying ‘we bought Muhoroni’. I believe we are unstoppable.

  • Just read that we have a brand new branch. The Footbridge branch. And they are fully equiped with their vuvuzelas, havea ‘divas’ section and even pay the kanjo guys for ‘entry’. The good thing is that there your entry fee is ‘measured’ to what fraction of the field you see. That aside I fear for the safety and health/life of these branch members. It’s a disaster in waiting as we all know what happens when a platoon of soldeirs march across a bridge in rhythm. That is what is bound to happen as they celebrate a goal. I think as Gor we are not ready to lose any more of our fans as they/we celebrate. I believe we will win on Sato (God has been with us all through these journey after we overcame the initial temptations and I’m sure HE will continue with us for the next 2 (or 3) matches (FKF Cup included)) I therefore ask our fans to avoid invading the game after the final whistle and let the players/tech bench, DStv carry out with the formalities before we can join them. Otherwise at times we mess a good thing by not being patient enough. Of late we have been of best behaviour and it’s paying off.

@Dan thanks for that observation. I share the same fear about the Footbridge branch and I have a very bad feeling about Saturday. There is this strange misfortune that sneaks into K’Ogalo’s high profile matches. Somebody should do something about this branch come early Saturday. I however, disagree SG George Bwana and the FKF official Asembo about the way forward.

Those people donnot require forceful ejection. Gor Mahia being the home team should post GSU personnel to the bridge early enough before the branch members take their positions OR apprehend them peacefully and then heard them into the stadium and release them to watch the match free. That way they may learn and develop the culture of paying in future.

EC please give ear to Creative Village’s concern. Tie our players to contracts that will make them hard to buy. Some of our neighbours realy don’t mean well for our key players. Do not ignore this matter.

I don’t think risking life should be encouraged in this country to the extent that even when guys have a choice to chose between cheap and affordable with safety we still have to cry aloud for them to think.

To me it goes like this:

Its expensive to acquire the DSTV Decorder buit its affordable to pay 50 or 100 in a hall or Hotel to watch K’ogalo.

It costs averagely 350bob to make it to the terraces in the Stadia (200 gate fees nad 150bus fare)making it expensive to watch from the VIP than the terraces.

It costs more to attend live game using a taxi than PSV hence we chose which means to uae to the stadia.

It may also cost as low as 20 bob to watch K’ogalo in an estate hall.

Bothers and sisters lets be straight and sincere, we cannot continue supporting unnecessary risks thenafter associate it with bad luck or such.

GM management must come out strongly, condemn this nonsense and drive out these pretenders.
