Gor Mahia finish with 60 points

Gor Mahia were held to a scoreless draw by Ulinzi stars in their final match of the 2013 Tusker Premier league. The draw took Gor Mahia to 60 points which is one point less than Tusker’s tally from last season.

Gor Mahia now have one key match left which is the GoTV shield final against arch rivals AFC Leopards that is slated for next Sunday

Additional reporting from the Standard

Referee Isaac Ochieng messed the Tusker Premier League match between champions Gor Mahia and ulinzi Stars with unwarranted officiating which left both coaches not contented with his work in a tie that ended in a barren draw at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru yesterday.

The referee penalised Gor’s Dan Ssekunruma three times on obvious chances that could have changed the match tempo. He also penalised the home team on crucial fouls.

Ochieng denied Gor what looked like a ‘genuine’ penalty in the 72nd minute after one of Ulinzi defenders handled in the box, infuriating their fans forcing security men to form a wall around the four match officials after the match to save them from angry fans who were baying for their blood.

Ulinzi tactician Salim Ali also confirmed the referee was not at hisbest but complained of rued chances that could have made a difference.

“These are anomalies we have been complaining about since the start of the season and Football Kenya Federation and the Kenya Premier League Company have done nothing about.

So now those who were not happy that the team was not training but just partying what do they have to say? Congrats team though I wanted us to break the record of most points ever scored in the KPL though we have a margin of ten points between us and number 2

Congratulations to Kogallo for the Success this Season. Let us thank God that the boys had that great winning mentality throughout the year. Let’s admit that there were several occassions where luck was just on our side and we just got the right goals, and thats true in any game.
There are probably less than 5 games that we easily won because we out played our opponents, the rest of the games they boys fought to the end and managed a draw or a win. So it was not always easy with those 10 points clear.
As we move into the break, I hope we will be sober enough to let go some good players as we let others come in, it will be sad to see our favourite players go but that has to happen to strengthen the team as it moves into the future. No matter who is released, someone will be sad, so over to you technical bench. Let us contunue our celebrations because this success was fought for and won by everyone in Kogallo’s fraternity.

@ Dan…you are out of order as always…a draw is not a win.

I said in this blog that if the “over celebrations” continue then we are not going to win the remaining games…i even predicted a draw against Ulinzi and a loss against AFC…we have drawn…if the trend continues then a loss to AFC is inevitable!
Again i know most of these players at a personal leve and i can tell you they cannot handle the game with these kinds of celebrations…their lifestyles is another issue! wacha tuone.

Let us not personalise issues. I remember during Loga’s time he would give the team a whole week to rest just before the derby and we would still win. Only God knows if we will win that game though I believe we will. In case we think negative that’s the first point of losing a match. While Ingwe is motivated and looking forward to the match camping in Mumias we are busy lamenting at the preparations. As @Kosero said the world will not come down crashing just beacuse Ingwe has beaten us. We have waited for the league win for 18 years and are the defending champs for the GoTV/FKF cup. Being a derby anything can happen and as fans we should be ready for any result while hoping the win will go our way.
@Jamigori, welcome to the blog and note that we have characters like @ingo and @Disi who reason and communicate like you but we are able to accomodate them. So feel at home as you expose your inadequacies when it comes to accepting that not everyone will think and reason like you.
@PUNDIT what was the win going to help Gor with? The players had to play safe during the Ulinzi game to avoid any injuries which could have resilted in some of them not being available for selection for the GoTV cup. As much as we would have loved to win, a draw still maintained our standing as champions

  • My friends 18 years in the cold, yawa celebration is okay.A win or draw is not bad after all a ten points gap wonderful boys congratulation am proud of our players and i hope on 16.11.2013 will be another one for further celebration.TB think of strikers,Middle and back line recruit wisely so that we can still celebrate after CECAFA TROPHY AND SOME STEPS IN CAF NOT FIRST ROUND.After 16th the player will have completed their job the remaining part is for the TB and EC to finance the recruitment so that we have the right player in the right place ready for the new season.

I think there is something going wrong with the team! The tream lacks seriousness in all departments, be it defence, midfield and the punch at the front! You do not win a game with the kind of guesswork plans being displayed in the recent games! Most of the goals being conceded can be prevented if those 3departments take up their roles seriously. A future budget of 100M may easily be realised if the fans get the value for their money, that’s serious work at the pitch and good results! The players are professionals and therefore no short cuts, let’s remain professional and do what you know best. For the coach, please train our strikers on sharp finishes. Also try to mentor the young players so that they remain focused, and insist on teamwork!Otherwise, congratulations for being 2013 Champs, its been a long wait!!

  • Jamigori you should tone down on your language especially when you are writing, coz you see that is already evidence that you are abusing/insulting someone and it could be very expensive. At Gor Mahia(on this blog) we are trying to be as civilised as possible mkubwa jifunze kucheza na maneno.
On perfomance i think its ok we drew and lost coz we could afford to….the same happened in 1983 and there is no big deal afteral…GINIWASEKAO!
