Gor Mahia held by Mathare

From futaa.com

Ten-man Mathare United wrestled Gor K’Ogalo Mahia to a 1-1 draw in their Wednesday 4 April Kenyan Premier League match played at the City Stadium.

Gor opened the scores early in the match with a fourth minute Rama Salim strike.

Return

The slum-boys equalized half an hour later with Innocent Mutiso doing well to feed Francis Ouma, who did not hesitate to bring his side into the match.

The return appeared to boost Mathare’s motivation, who ended up engaging K’Ogalo in an intense midfield battle for the remainder of the first half.

Coming into the second half, a spirited Gor Mahia lodged an attack, characterized with numerous Baldwin Ngwa strikes.

Considering him a threat, Mathare players moved in to seclude Ngwa. In countering the strategy, new Gor coach Zdravko Logarusic pulled him out to bring in Selenga Mangili, whose entry was immediately felt, as Gor forwards moved into the Mathare box.

Red card

At the 87th minute, Vincent Khadudu was involved in a defensive melee, which handed him his marching orders.

His exit, however, left no discernible gap as Mathare defended the draw to the end of the game.

Welcome to GOR MAHIA F.C coach Zdravko Logarusic and now you have statistics as the man in charge of GM bench. Played 1 draw 1 scores 1 for and 1 against. That is fairly good start to learn the team, players and lastly we the supporters.

By now you must be able to rate the kind of players in your possession in terms of individual fitness, talents, ability, work rate ,skills and discipline both on /off the pitch. Those are players available at the moment for you to work with and I believe you will transform their mental strength and assist the players to rediscover their winning mentality.

At the moment our performance is slightly below average and if you can tweak one or two weakness you observed in a real KPL as opposed to playing sub standards “Estate” teams then for sure you have your job well cut for you. ALL THE BEST ON THE HOT SEAT.

Well done Semejis but I don’t think by bringing in a Coach from out’ trying to look for a similar shoe like ours (Ingwe) on the market (Jan Koops) won’t change much, be conteded with what you have (John) by giving him time, pole pole Semeji but by the time you feel da comfort we are feeling we will be far resting, anyway’ welcome new coach

  • At least someone has had the audacity to tell the players what is expected from them. Our players workrates has been very low. No aggressiveness, no hassles. What if they were not being paid like the other teams, they would just be walking in the field. Anyway we will continue supporting you hoping for some positive results.

Over the weekend we are in Afraha. Let’s see some change from you

Fact no:1 2012 KPL league is tough and to be among the top 5 you must win matches.
Fact no:2 All teams have realized that playing GOR you just need to concentrate on your
game plan and ignore the noise making fans.
Fact no:3. GOR MAHIA style of playing is very predictable and a such you can easily devise
a simply methodology to counter their tricks. Silence there fans by holding the
ball for long in the midfield and control the pace. The entire stadium will be very
and then you will have your way. TUSKER and MUHORONI did it in style.

Fact no: 4 GOR MAHIA recruited the highest number of average players of which majority
of them are re-cycled rejects from the rival clubs.

Fact no: 5 You reap what you sow! Garbage in Garbage out.

WE MUST SOLDIER ON TO AVOID RELEGATION ZONE THAT IS SLOWLY BECOMING
OUR COMFORT ZONE ON THE KPL STANDINGS. Over to you bloggers.

  • As someone said lets reasses the players we bought. Largely we never fought off for a player with existing team. Most of them were rejects from other teams. So nothing new they can bring on the table. Lets see what motivation the new coach has..

  • Even the coach has stated it clearly that some players dont deserve to be in GM. There 100% cannot take GM anywhere. Some run but dont think at same time while some cannot even run. I think he is 100% right.Thats y we cant score goals. 11 strikers with only 3 goals in seven matches.

DO NOBLAMEHEPLAYERS, something is not right, have you verified if these players are being paid their dues ? I think they are afraid to speak out because of dictators at the helm but something is really wrong and the sooner it is addressed the better, I tink the office has become complacent. Look at how AFC Leopards are motivated and confident, the reason is, the company sponsoring them is the one paying for their salaries and allowances which is now being done the right way. THE ONLY WAY GOR CAN BE SAVED IS TO FULLY ALLOW AN OWNER TO BUY IT , that’s when the club will be fully professional and players will be paid. KENYAN LEAGUE PLAYERS NEED TO FORM A PLAYERS UNION, this will carter to their welfare

  • We have always said it that some of these players don’t deserve to be at this big club but some bloggers who think they own others have been defending them.now it’s the coach,a foreigner who you can’t say hate these players.i think they should be released at the earliest opportunity possible.
Goal scoring is our main undoing.i don,t know who tought GM players that goals can only be scored within the box.
Coach, watu watembee if they can’t run and think at the same time.

  • what the coach has said about some players alsao applies to most players in the KPL LEAGUE.thats why countries with established strucures-youth tiers systems, like EGYPT,SENEGAL AND GUNIEA love to pay the looters of FKF for friendlies so that they can do an embakasi combined on us.
The coach has told us the truth when he said we have to fight to avoid relegation as we are not even a mid table side.our play from ZDS time has been disjointed and predictable and thats why even build up play is very difficult for all our players.
We have to bite the bullet, cut our losses and dismiss some players who just inflate our wage bill.the money saved can be used to invest in youthful players to play for our youth team.
Its funny that we have foreign players who add no value to the team on the field but talk big outside it.

THE TRUTH IS FINALLY OUT AND I PROUDLY TO STAND BY THE COACH
@ Le Pastre I hope now you can digest your previous comments and swallow your pride for a while by accepting realistic facts when some of us refuse to play ball with the EC.

I said hitting an hurriedly assembled ” Estate team ” in the name of players gaining confidence is a different ball game from encountering a KPL side like Mathare; but you being the know it all called us all sorts names trying to belittle our concern with your selfish and ego centric post based on theoretical technical approach that lacks substance and taste.

You do not need a “white witch doctor”,PHD or ROCKET SCIENCE intelligence to determine a soccer player with some basics that can be moulded into a complete outfit. It is high time we accept that some of us with divergent views also do mean well for the club, only that we are not hell bend to hero-worshiping mediocrity or standing by the status quo in the name of sycophancy when the naked truth is that their management style is both ineffective and lacks wider consultation with the respective stake holders.

The EC and G. Bwana in particular should stop taking fans for a ride and accept that they are still green in guiding a team of GM status through trial and errors in there decision
making, that is slowly driving the team to become an object of pity and a laughing stock in Kenya football community. WAKE UP EC ! GUYS THE BACK STOP WITH ALL OF YOU!,

This evening, we are forced yet again to eat a humble pie. Mathare United, another struggling side, squeezed a draw. Although K’Ogalo can quickly blame a slipperry pitch after the skies opened up, our strikers are still firing blanks except an early goal from Rama, his first goal of the season.

I have another inspiring story for you. Sir Edmund Hillary, an American climbed the highest mountain in the world, mount Everest because was motivated. He said ‘because it’s there’ I will climb it. I still have doubt whether our lads are motivated by something to win the premier leaugue. But this is another story for another day.

By the way, what happened to self confessed tradionalist, comrade Ogango Trailer? What does the spirits of GM say about this match ? Can I say that I really enjoyed your lively pieces that gives this great club a cultural touch. Make no mistake. I still don’t believe in your black magic or something to that effect. Nonetheless I find your anecdotes quite humorous and thoughtful.

  • I am sending an SOS to Jackowili, Okoth Jabilo, Arumtidi, Lelerue, Mwakio and other regular contributors. Please, please: SAVE Ogango Trailer from himself. The young man has hit the SELF-DESTRUCT button as he sees either me or the EC in everything wrong with Gor Mahia. I hope he wont lose his job because of either me or the EC and G. Bwana in particular! Am I this young man’s pet subject and walking-nightmare? Here he is attacking me again that I was for the hurriedly arranged friendly match wth Embakasi Combined. Fellow bloggers, the records bail me out as I never contributed on the state of the friendly match, neither did I castigate those who were against us using its result as a yard stick to measure our performance. Why is he attacking me, the EC and G. Bwana in particular this late in the day? The elections for the club were held and these are the officials we elected. I will refresh your mind Mr. Trailer. Is this the same G. Bwana of “Operation Jaza Stadium.” You mentioned him in very good light yesterday. He was one of the people that “worked really hard” along side yourself to return “us” to the Stadium? Why turn against his mamagement style now and not then? I am still adamant that we have quite a young and talented group of players in our rank. They only need a coach who will understand and guide them and we will be shredding opponents to bits. Here are my FACTS: The following are international players in our club, either at U23- or H/STARS- D. Owino, M. Mohmmed, Teddy, Daddy, Gattuso, Y. Juma, Chris. Wekesa Kevin Ochieng, Kitawi and Rama. How can these players be good for the National Team but not good for Gor Mahia? Players such as Lavatsa, Kiplagat, Ngwa, Makori, M. Otieno, Selenga, Balotteli, Abondo, and the three G.Keepers are equally very good. Efusi are leading the table simply bcz, when we were still experimenting with Mr. TINKERING MAN- AWONO, they had identified their 1st Team and 1st Eleven and stuck to it. So they only need to work on formations which is dictated by the kind of OPPONENT they are facing. If the coaches we have now can get their ACTS together soonest, then we still stand a very big chance of doing something very POSITIVE. The problem at GM is in the pitch and it has alot to do with the coaching and to a certain extent some of the players. That is why Awono had to go and Logurasic, JBO and Oweno had to be hired to try and get the BEST out of the players. This is the players’ and the coaches’ big chance. They should both grab it with both hands as it looks like the fans are not ready for any more failures. When we pick you with a tooth comb Mr. Trailer, you will grow pale. At least you have acknowledged my theoritical tactical and technical nous. Now they can be actualized and this is how- 1. The coaches may read this site 2. When I volunteer to share my knowledge with the coaches 3. When one of the bloggers shares the same info with the coaches. Nobody is competing against you Ogango Trailer! Just learn to accept that some people will always be better than you in certain fields. You are proving to be a major liability to this blog by continuously dragging people’s names to your posts. We are human beings and so we are likely to respond to your nebulous jibes. I hope I have not lost you bcz of the terms I have used. Names dont lie Ogango Trailer and they have power too. Though you are trailing as your name suggests, for the sake of peace, we will give you the gong for being the best contributor to this site. Mr. Lugarisic, please concentrate on getting the best out of the players you have now. The next transfer window is in June and so until then, please work with what you have. No self respecting coach discusses his team’s inadequacies and shortcomings in the Press- Not Arsene Wenger, not Sir Alex Ferguson, not Josip Guardiola or even the Special one- Jose Mourinho. Once upon a time Dan “Dunga” Ogada was bood and jeered at by Gor Mahia faithfuls in 1992 @ Nyayo National Stadium. This according to them was bcz he appeared to be tactless and talentless. Thanks to the great coaches-Jack Johnson, David Otii and later Bob Oyugi and G. Vojo who saw the potential in Ogaa. He later developed into a dependable midfielder, and he together with Tom Okaya, Frazier Ochieng and Allan Odhiambo became the king pin of Gor Mahia midfield and even H/STARS. Mr. Lugarisic, this is Africa and not Europe where clubs like Chelsea, Man City or R. Madrid can buy star players at will. Here part of your work entails spotting talent and developing the talent of the said players. Gor Mahia as the name intonates, will RISE AGAIN. Keep it football keep it Gor Mahia.
