Logarusic: Some players do not deserve to be in the team

Gor Mahia coach  Zdravko Logarusic has said some of the current team players are not worth to be part of Gor Mahia. The Croatian coach was speaking immediately after his debut outing  at the City Stadium against Mathare United. The match ended 1-1.
The coach has said his team Gor Mahia has limited chances of lifting the KPL championship this season and his immediate task will be to save the team from relegation.
“As you all know I have been in this team for less than a week and that is not enough to make a lot of changes in the team, at this point I suggest we forget about putting our minds in winning the league but work towards saving ourselves from the bottom of the table. The boys tried their best but am afraid to say some of these players do not deserve to be in this team.”
“Some of them give their best but their hundred percent is not enough for a big club like Gor Mahia.I do not want to talk much about the coaches who were there before and who made the selection. This club is a big club; the pride of Kenya and everyone who is given chance to play for Gor Mahia should show their worth. We need players who can make the best of Kenya because their target should be to play in Europe in the future, this means they should avoid talking a lot outside the picth and concentrate on building their talents.” He said.”
The coach said he will work towards improving the team’s ball possession and attack for a better performance in their subsequent matches in a build up towards regaining the team’s lost face.
“I have had a few sessions and a small friendly match but from today’s match I have been able to gauge the performance of the team and see exactly what we need to change in our play. But I can confidently say some players just talk and feel proud about themselves outside the pitch yet they cannot deliver on the pitch. A footballer does not just talk, talk, and talk !! Your message should be delivered on the pitch by your performance.” He added without mentioning names.
He said with the big following the team enjoys, the results need to be positive to satisfy the fans who he termed as ‘phenomenal’.
“I feel sorry for our fans because they came in today expecting a win after a poor start to the league. But I call on them to remain patient because it will take time before we can rise up to top level again.”

We needed someone from Europe to tell us that. we all knew that some of this Gor players do not need to be in the team just before we started continental match, and when i spoke about it here some guys like Ogango Trailer read some scpritures to me.Gor is not the same like the one we had back in the early 90s. I hope we will get good players and let the ones that are under performing go. without naming any one we should retain only 4 players. I hope the new coach can see this.

He is the professional in this matters and he has spoken, but his outburst may turn out to be counterproductive in our fight to avoid relegation. Did he have to tell it to the press? How does such public criticism impact on a player?

However accurate his observations (and truly they are!) it would have been more helpful if he handled it in-house. He would only need to address the players and tell them this to their face without involving the press.

May June arrive sooner so that OUR TECHNICAL BENCH can exploit the transfer window.

Lets call a spade a spade! Gor is under performing because some players think that by playing for Gor, they are already superstars because of the following Gor has! I fully support motema pemba @ 1… surely only 4 players of the current Gor squad justify their place in the team, the rest are not here nor there. As Lugarusic says it “as it is” – “Some of the players cannot think and move with the ball at the same time”. Lets clean Gor now! and Lugarusic is the person to do it!

  • true to his words i cannot agree more within the first 15 minutes they played to what the coach had instructed soon afterwards they resorted to our usual schoolboy mistakes we have less that 4 good players in the whole squad who can and should wear gormahia jersey we should let them know look at darglish who has defended his under performing squad it may cost him his job so odiero you are spot on those travelling to nakuru please ask this lot of mad fans not to start another bush fire again

1.if your squad must b 30 players then 10 shld b talented youth btw 17-21yrs who can easily adapt to the senior team when needed
2.if kenyans aren’t gud enough then vuka boda since K’galo is the big club

True! some players dont deserve to wear Kogalo shirt,i know logarusic will do the work of cleaning the squad…, i did’nt c the Importance/purpose of 33 squad players,at first we thought it will b good for depth but it brought inconsistent 1st eleven, gone r the day when jagoal ‘Onyango’ would play between the sticks the whole season-Consistent 1st 11 has been and will be my call… #KogaloForever

What the head coach has said was once said by many of our people who write on this page.
We all know that many players whom I will not mention are irrelevant and should be dropped. Some of them who think they are smart but have failed to deliver should actually leave. Let us stop empty sympathy even when a player is not disciplined. All players are equal and must perform. I support the head coach cos he’s neutral and will field a player as per his performance, no more spoon feeding call a spade a spade and a spoon a spoon.

Days for people like Ogango Trailer drawing line-up for the coach are over. Gattuso has given virtually all coaches head ache. Some coaches have even been accused of victimising this young man. He has now realised that it will no longer be business as usual and has done the most honorable thing, to quit. With that kind of indiscipline, Gattuso you cannot play anywhere. May be in a nondescript team like Obunga Stars. For God and my club Kogallo

  • the coach if right, he is here to think, drink and sleep football.

He has people in his squod that talk football. Always said we need some foreign elements who basically come to play soccer and earn a leaving. You cna see theme in batoto and inwe and tusker. These kind of players will ensure they play well to keep their job or move clubs.

We need just two. Midfield and striker.I am seein Gor taking the AFC root and kicking 15 players at mid season ODIERO – do it and fast we are desperate

  • Look at the passionate fans who even left there jobs to go and give them the suport but left dissapointed not because they didnt win but simply because they run out of ideas within the first 30 min of play. This has happened in literally all the last 6 matches where they start very well but fade out like boys without stamina. You cant blame the coach for this kind of attitude.

Let our new coach take control and thank you for putting the player issues in black and white for all to see. For how long should such heavy issues be smeared black?

Coach, clean up this house. We will see you in Nakuru on Sunday.

Let the coach get players, not from the big teams but from the lower ranks, who are hungry for football.

clean the House of Ogallo and let it shine like the Stars high above. And while Lugarusic is cleaning the inside, let us also clean the outside by ridding ourselves of hooliganism.

Will the technical bench give the new coach the freedom of selection without their interfierance? We all know that they have their relatives, friends and sons in the team and wants them to be always playing.
