Gor Mahia held in Bobby’s 1st game

 Ogolla in a recent interview

Stand in Gor Mahia tactician Bobby Ogolla was at the touch line for the first time when his team was held to a 2-2 draw by George Sunguti’s Nairobi City Council team in a friendly match played at  Nyayo stadium on Thursday morning.

Ogolla arrived in Nairobi on Wednesday afternoon and will be in charge this weekend when Gor Mahia welcomes Maputo boys Ferroviario in the CAF Confederations Cup return leg fixture. He was welcomed to the team and introduced to all the players early on Thursday during their warm up match against Nairobi City Council.

The veteran tactician comes in after the entire Gor Mahia technical bench led by former head coach Cameroonian Anabah Awono was disbanded on Monday.

Demonde Selenga and Edwin Lavatsa did not feature in the match since they are yet to regain maximum fitness.

Gor Mahia’s goals were scored by George Midenyo and Hugo Nzagu.

“This was a good build up and a test of our fitness ahead of the match. Morale is back in good form in camp and am sure we will stage a good performance this weekend. I also take the opportunity on behalf of our team to welcome our new coach Bobby Ogolla” Said skipper Jerim Onyango.

a 2-2 draw is far much better than a 0-0 or a 1-nil loss. lets support the boys

  • Guys, usually when you are going for a tough match like that on Sato you don’t play against established teams especially when the game is too near. You risk injuries and also not able to practice your match strategy. Let’s wish the boys all the best. Did we want to beat them 10-0 and give ourselves some false hope? I hope we learnt something since we don’t want to concede any goal on Sato.

  • Hope you watched the 7-1 rout that the barca academicians gave bayer leverkusen.personally i watched it to the end and nodded my head in satisfaction as what we saw is what those who have the long term vision of our beloved club have.what was displayed yesterday was the possession football that you see our players practice before each game where you pass the ball to get out of a tricky situation while looking for an opportunity to open the opponent and go for the jugular.HAYO NDIO MATUNDA YA KUWEKEZA RASILIMALI KWA VIJANA.i respect bobby ogolla as one of our legends and wish him all the best during this tricky period in our history.wish our boys a win on saturday.what i wish for this great club is the best but i approach every game cautiously knowing the potential we have and at the same time the basic limitations that we face as a club.some will tell you that we cannot reach the levels of the catalan giants but forget that should we win the league and participate in the CAF CHAMPS LEAGUE we are ultimately vying for a place at the world club championship where such clubs await us.i hope those who love this club dearly embrace a modern and global perception of world soccer and realise the hard work that lies ahead.i believe with sound management and the supporters we currently have ,we can aim for the stars.

The comment @4 “Anaba Awono” of course thats not the old man I know, he is beyond that and please please give the new team time to even settle. As you know the team has been disjointed for some time. They needed to start somewhere and why not NCC? The 2-2 is ok at least somebody is scoring, and thats what you need in a build up towards a big game.

Keep on TO and JBO, those of us who are sobber understand what you have gotten in to and you have our full support.I know you will win this game even if you don’t move on, you should not be bothered so much, that was supposed to have been taken care of in the first leg.

  • this my view, those shocked at the draw are confused, that match warm up was to check out and look at the team on the best method, get to know the team and not necesarily to win.i believe the 12th Arsenal will do us proud and a 4 goal difference will be the outcome.my predictions Gor Mahia 3 F.Maputo 0,they go 4 xtra time and Hugo Nzoka scores in the 113th min after a neat pass from Baldwin Ngwa,to cheers from the stand.Sofapaka did it at Nyayo, why not the indomitable Gor.
