Gor Mahia open talks with Kiongera

courtesy of the Nation

After snapping up Zambian international midfielder Julius Situmbeko to a three year deal and capturing Ugandan international left back Godfrey Walusimbi, Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia are set to make Paul Kiongera’s deal a permanent one.

The highly rated Kiongera has been at Gor on a season long loan from KCB, but talks have begun in earnest to tying down with a long term contract.

Club Secretary General George Bwana told Sporton! that the club has opened talks with both Kiongera and his parent club KCB.

“We want him on board on a long term. Already talks are in progress and we hope to seal a deal soon,” Bwana said.

“There are issues he raised with the technical bench but we hope to arrive at an amicable solution.”

The gifted forward has, however, had a lukewarm first ten months at K’Ogalo. Although initially expected to command a regular starting role behind the main striker at the club, Kiongera’s development was hampered by a knee injury early in the season which saw him sidelined for three months.

But even after making a return from the treatment room, earning a starting role proved a herculean task.

  • My understanding is that the term of office for all gor’s official has expired. FKF and KPL can not extend the term of office for these officials. Only the Registrar of Societies has this mandate. These officials can therefore not make any legal transaction on behalf of the club including financial transactions. Any player who has a contract signed by these officials after their term expired may be in danger

Kiogera should not leave @ any cost. He has alot of potential and if TB can polish his finishing then both kogalo and kenya will have a world class striker. He has alot of strength on the flaps, can gaggle and is very intelligent with the ball but last touches let him down. his positioning is always perfect and very strong on first balls and on air. To AR,EC and TB please keep Kiogora at kogalo.

This is a welcome move to keep Kiongera in the team. The lad just dropped in form and lacked confidence. These are areas that can be rejuvenated by the technical bench.

Its comforting to hear about the first 2 transfer from a reliable source i.e the daily nation. Now get the names to CAF!
About Kiongera am not 2 worried whether we retain him or not. Cld b the KCB jinx. What issues does he have with the TB? players must earn the first team positions. As a striker he simply must score goals or provide assists.
Personally I think its an attitude problem the guy overates himself. Case in point look at how “Flava” handled a similar crisis.

I think Kenneth Wendo or Michael olunga can do a better job In offensive positions ! honestly speaking, look at goals to game ratio, Paul kiongera is an overrated striker. My personal observation.

we have bought walisimbi for 2m true? i doubt it again should we or have we done that where is the clubs benefit , entertainig fans that all there is no profit geered thinking , we still will be paying pre arranged fines from kpl to help line pockects ot the officials , then some insist that AR IS best as chairman , kiongera is agood player but BW tacs does not siut him teddy too and we complain of our midfield and we have the best players during CECAFA

@Jakoyo, as u have said Wendo and Olunga can add the punch upfront. Ochomo is also now available. We all know his +ve and -ve sides. All we need to do is to ensure we use his ‘strengths’ as we help him overcome his weaknesses. Now that Atudo is gone how about trying to get Ominop of chemelil. Looks like Sahat of Sudan is also not coming our side. On Kenga I think we need to seriously persue him. Whoever has seen him play will know what a gem he can be in GM. The problem with Msa players is lack of ambition but we can give him the examples of Shebe, Zamalek, Rama and Erico are good examples of how GM has improved coastal players. At least this time we cannot blame the EC for sleeping on the job as we have all seen the effort

complains complains complains all the times we must change or else let the officials and the coaches leave the office so that we can do their work as fans and we see the end results…kiongera is the only guy that can strike in gor mahia in absence of sserenkuma,he is avery good striker, lavatsa has stayed in gor and has never clicked ever since.let us give officials and the coaches time to do their work or else we wont go far.

Am totally baffled. How does one airing his or her views on a site adversely affect the office or the coaches.
At most bloggers only hurl verbal stones. The buck on player selection stops with the TB and on overall club adminstration/ performace with the elected office, ultimately with the Chairman. It is not transferable. Noboby forces players to sign, TB to accept coaching positions, or officials to seek office. They all do of their own free will knowing fully the high expectations of fans. Further more our players and TB are well remunerated thus hakuna haja ya kubembeleza watu.
If fact I dare say that GM has come this far largely becoz of fans/members.Who hasn’t had rival coaches chide us b4 matches that “Gor Ni Fans na ball ni kuwa uwanja”.

I see no need for change praise, complain (@ BB i’ve got it right?),worship like a sycophant, critize but please never shy away from commenting. That’s the ONLY WAY WE WILL IMPROVE MIGHTY K’GALO.

Now this issue of kiongera is disturbing coz the other day he had issues with daddy now it isTB. So. his discipline level is wanting. The EC please remind him of the same.

How can ec pursue a player who has issues with the TB? Who’s the boss? If anything its love a star who’s starved of his natural playing position at the center forward. Actually he’s lucky the ec has given him some audience and GM offers him undeserved publicity. Could someone advice him to be humble lest he wins the trophy for busybodying! For me there are more than enough befitting strikers at GM in love a star, paul Odhiambo, Danny, Angelo & K14. Ochomo to me fits the bill more than Kiongera having been tried and tested.

Kassam, stop cheating bloggers here. Ochomo is a player without any football brain at all. He is just physical na ugali nyingi sana. It is only Danny worth mentioning among the players you highlighted above.

As an asset Kiongera is good but not so much as a team player. For business purposes, let him be retained in Gor Mahia and let him be allowed as much play time as possible. He has a big name (I don’t know why). Amrouche once wanted to trade him to the Bundesliga. Now that is where the business sense comes in. Gor Mahia should own him totally and await Amrouche’s move. Should Amrouche fail then I can bet my last coin that Simba Sports will come calling with loads of cash that could fetch the club four Ed Mubirus.

I am surprised that Ochomo’s name is doing the rounds again. It is true he was tried and tested in K’Ogalo and that is what landed him in Ulinzi who also tried and tested him before offloading him. Instead of Ochomo I’d rather Odhis Dube be reinstated. We go for Ochomo and we shall be walking down the Midenyo path once again.

‘There are issues he raised with the technical bench’. We have not been told what kind of issues they are, so this does not mean Kiongera had fallen out with the TB. Just as Jack Omollo puts it, let us give coaches and officials time to do their work.

I may need to apologize for comenting again. Truly our opinions have nothing to do with TB and or EC’s decisions at all and we all do well in learning from one another as well. No one in both TB or EC will be excused for taking instructions from blogs.

@Kassam Mwivangano I don’t see anything wrong with your comments and as such you really need not to be extravagant with those apologies. Save them for a rainy day my brother…This blog like Gor Mahia is full of twists and intrigues that sometimes arrest my mouth free.

When u propose Ochomo surely what is his scoring record over the past 2 seasons. Even worse than Kiongera.
I pose 2 more matters 4 bloggers 2 ponder on.
    1. The world over the most common issue players have with TB is fielding/playing time. And believe me there’s very little TB can do if the other players r outperforming u in training & matches. Does Kiongera expect EC 2 direct/appeal 2 TB that he b favoured.
Finally I hope its not above the AR led executive community 2 explain 2 members………

y it seems GM will not participate in the Mapinduzi Cup. This is the ideal arena 4 the TB 2 give not only the likes of Kiongera, bt also the Gathus/Bataros etc & new signings a chance 2 prove themselves.
A blogger previously raised this point but all we hear from some quarters is let the office do their job. Yes what job electioneering or participating in important preseason tourneys especially given that CAF matches precede the league.
The day we put football first & know that Flava & Gathu r….

  • ODUOR12

more important than AR & GB,that elections & officials r but just a means 2 propel GM 2 football glory then the office cn b said 2 b WORKING.
But maybe supporters of the bloated executive community cn say what WORK the office is doing when they can’t even ensure participation in the Mapinduzi Cup.
Can’t they raise a team, Is it lack of finances, r EC too busy campiagning of 11 of them. Did GM cease 2 exist coz of elections i ask Mr.AR surely did GM cease to exist coz of ELECTIONS!

highly overrated player and that this guy can play in germany is very laughable. kama kawaida i will say as it is, nothing personal. the guy might be a very likable fellow.
reports that so and so players have been signed are simply rumours. can the secretariat come out clearly and say wether the zambian has been recruited. this site has peddled rumours and continues to do so. nation newspapers is not reliable and should not speak for gor. i thnk Bwana shud come out clearly on player recruitment, otherwise if it’s his strategy to do things quietly until all is finalised then well and good. but lets not have this site, some officials or newspapers peddling rumours on deals that are basically blank pages.

It’s unfortunate that we would not go for Mapinduzi Cup but maybe it’s the coach’s strategy. Remember Tusker went there last year and didn’t have a rest for the wole season. In the end fatigue could have caused them the title. Maybe our players need to rest, injuries to heal and they rejunivate themselves before the season starts next year. Playing Tusker, Ingwe , Simba, Azam and Yanza would have been good exposure and bonding session for the new recruits.
The thing is that we all know that even governments cease doing some things during the electioneering period.
By the way who is in and who is out? At least for Tusker and Ingwe we know the facts but for GM it’s just romours and speculation

It is a conventional knowledge that it is the technical bench that proposes to the EC which players to sell, buy, loan and release.Kiongera apparently, has issues with the technical bench. These are the very people who work with him every day and know his strengths and weaknesses. When the EC say that the issues the boy has with the TB will be solved, isn’t the EC meddling?Isn’t the EC overreaching itself? The technical bench should be given a freehand to perform its role.If the TB feels Kiongera can only be apart player for now then, so be it.Kiongera is a great player. There is no doubt about that.If he remains focused he will become a legend at Gor.However, submitting his case to the EC for arbitration is correct but obviously not the right thing to do.

Now that we have signed our first striker in the name of Obwoge from Chemelil let’s hope that Danny will get a formadable partner upfront. G. Bwana and Co. looks like you needed an election shock therapy to start working. So far so good in terms of attempt but clarify on Sahat, Walusimbi and Situmbeko. How about Atudo and Mieno?

Why do bloggers want Atudo and Mieno.? These are players whose good sides are behind them and awaiting for retirement. Got Mahia is not a home for retirement, atube has already signed with Tusker FCC.

I agree with Jamigori. This stupid obsession with old names is not good for the growth of any institution let alone GM. To me Atudo may be a good player but suffering attitude and discipline problems just rlike Gatuzo, Balloteli, Abondo. A know it all player is a headache to the Tb and that is not What we need. Let’s look for experience yes, which we have, and potential. Other wise i have totrrrrral confidence in the Ec and Tb as currently constituted. My position is Adede and his ilk should contest for chief heckler positions. That is where they belong. Awacho Ayueyo, thoo.
