Walusimbi close to completing Gor Mahia move

Uganda Cranes left back Godfrey Walusimbi is set to join Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia.

Gor officials finalized talks with his agent on Tuesday in Nairobi as the player agreed on the terms on offer ahead of the move.

Walusimbi who plays for Bunamwaya SC in the Ugandan Super League was in the country recently playing Uganda Cranes who lost to Tanzania in the quarter finals of the GOtv Cecafa senior challenge.

“I can assure you Godfrey Walusimbi will be joining Gor Mahia after we had successful talks with his agent in Nairobi today(Tuesday). We have agreed on terms and we are sending him a contract and hopefully we will be able to finalize before sending his name to Caf ahead of the deadline for registration in the continental cup. He will be a very valuable inclusion in the team ahead of the new season,” Gor Mahia’s secretary general George Bwana told supersport.com.

Walusimbi will be joining his Ugandan compatriot Dan Sserunkuma who has played a pivotal role for K’Ogalo.

Oboya Targeting Stars call-up

From a story on goal.com, Patrick Oboya signed a two year deal with K’Ogalo on Tuesday after his initial six month contract expired and says he wants to impress Adel Amrouche

Kenyan midfielder Patrick Oboya opted to extend his stay at Gor Mahia due to a desire for more playing time and to return to the national team Harambee Stars.

Oboya’s agent Patrick Muthomi said on Wednesday that playing at Gor Mahia for another season remains the player’s best option at the moment. Oboya signed a two year deal with Gor Mahia on Tuesday after his initial six month contract expired.

“Looking at the current circumstances, it only makes sense that he plays at Gor Mahia for another season. He needs to get more playing time and also be seen by national team selectors and with Gor Mahia featuring at continental level, he is likely to get more exposure and so that is why we extended his stay,” Muthomi told Goal.

He also revealed that several offers they had got were not impressive. Oboya was on loan at Gor Mahia for the last six months of 2013.

Very Good signing ! Can play almost anywhere in defense and left midfield. Where are the strikers and creative midfielders ?

Ksh 2m for a defender is madness. That money is enough to sign a quality creative midfilder, a pacy winger and a good left back. The club should not panic buy. Yes, we want new signings but not over priced ones.

I say hog wash. READING THE ARTICLE CRITICALLY & YOU FIND THAT THEY R SENDING THE CONTRACT & HOPEFULLY HIS NAME WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE CAF LIST.
ANOTHER EMUGE SAGA & ALSO IT SEEMS ANY SIGNING WE MAKE MAY NOT BE ELIGIBLE 4 CAF.
SO WHAT THE USE OF THE SIGNINGS WILL AR & HIS TEAM B UNVEILING IN FEB14.
AM TELLING ALL GM IS GOING NOWHERE UNLESS WE PUT FOOTBALL FIRST UNLESS WE MAKE THE PLAYERS MORE IMPORTANT THAN OFFICIALS.
NOW WILL AR,BWANA MAN OUR WEAK MIDFIELD?
AFTER ALL THEY MAKE A TEAM.

Other teams were sealing deals when the players were here during CECAFA tourney while the executive community was planning to rig elections.
I still say AR is administering GM very poorly (doubt if he runs his law firm the same way).
These r simple matters of planning & structures not rocket science.
Worse he’s now joined forces with Nyamweya who tolf the Nation that FKF is bidding 4 the 2019 AFCON when the deadline had already lapsed.

@Mcosweto, Gor Mahia is a big club that can buy any player within East Africa. You are very ungrateful fool that eats his venom and vomit.

@Mcosweto, All your postings exhibits what you are and how narrow minded your thoughts are!!!!! Your posting portrays your character.

@ODUOR12, how do you streamline GM whether AR likes it or not.

We have been waiting to see all your candidate declare there interest to no avail as at todate. Why are you fronting for people with no interest? Do you a hidden agenda as some of the outgoing officials?

Guys we either decide we need good, quality and experienced players and pay for them or otherwise act as an academy for the Yangas, Simbas and Yangas of this world.
As it is the only players who have signed any contract locally are the local ones. The CECAFA players have not signed any. By the way the Sudanese striker was inviting gor to go for him. He wished to play in Kenya and for Gor but looks like we never took the challenge

Too much dream of having quality players but unable to buy, what are you telling us? Behaving like Aserne Wenger who dreams of signing quality players every year wont help you. Take a look at the DSTV Cup, there was nothing there to say of a serious team & if its the very team to take to continental then kiss it goodbye. Can u tell the fans we want so & so but we dont have money & we listen to that? Pole sana GM.

  • Those who r critisizing AR r missing the point.Things r done proceduraly & according to preference of BW.If Bobby thinks that Akumu,Erick, Timonah r good enough then AR cannot force him to sign. Only Bobby knows which player he wants & I think he has done that so if Rachier fails to sign whomever he wants he will say so. Anybodys hate 4r Rachier shud not make him hate this club.I can categoricaly say that AR found this club an amature club but now there r some professionalism where by players sign contrac

I am dissapointed that GM did not try to sign Atudo who has now returned to Tusker. With Anguyo leaving, I am not sure how much cover GM has at central defence.

@eric Jarae, ignore these noise makers. Adede cannot bring any desired change in Gor Mahia. We have some bloggers who are posting nonsense in this site. When a club signs a good player, the raise several questions. We all need to give credit to where itvisvdue and this is the main reason why my vote is for Wakili Ambrose Rachier.

Gor fans are the complaining lot and they can’t even attend AGM to ask all the questions to the executive committee members. Instead they give flimsy excuses why they were unable to attend the AGM. I think these are the same fans that usually cause havoc in the name of hooliganisms. These are the same bloggers that want to make free entry into all games.

On behalf of Gor Mahia fans in all coast counties especially Taita Taveta, I would like to encourage the executive committee led by our able Wakili Ambrose Rachier to ignore these noise makers and concentrate in building Gor Mahia to greater heights. Kudos to Ambrose Rachier. We are with you.

….i will reluctantly vote for the devil i know.
In the meantime I don’t understand why some get touchy when we state the obvious that management of GM headed by AR is wanting if not a failure e.g
    1. As one of the longest serving chair he has little 2 show in terms of trophies. Other chairmen lifted trebles,CECAFA & CAF title,
    2. He is financially & administratively opaque. Gate collections in 2012-40M in 2013-10M
3.Despite sponsorship players have no medical insurance,
    4. Clearly focussed on..

electioneering rather then spearhead players contracts negotiations
    5. Sat back & almost saw the club loose “Flava” midseason had the holygans not intervened.
    6. Attempts 2 conduct an election without an independant election board, verified voters register and worse non transparent ballot boxes
    7. Pays players using cash evelopes & the list of AR led executive community flops is endless.
Remember GM existed b4 AR, u & me & will continue after AR, u & me whether AR likes it/not. Get what I mean?

Lets appreciate when good things happen at Gor. Indeed am so grateful for the signing of the Walusimbi the left back. If guys have been kin enough they will realise most of the scores have come from the left side where Musa who is not a natural leftback has been given to man. Most of the wingers on the left side dont give good cover and thats why i also appreciate the signing of Situmbeko from Zambia who should give good cover for Walusimbi. Musa now should be returned to his rightback position. What is now lacking is a midfield meastro of the like of Kahata because Akumu will be able to give the necessary defensive cover. We also need a strong but skillful striker to compliment Sserenkuma who is tried and tested but overworked. Whether AR or Adede does it i believe its for the good of Gors family politics aside.

Politics and blame game at the wrong time will never bring any good tidings at all. And please, if you surely feel that you can do better than AR then be one of the contenders and let the people decide. Don’t blog here how so and so is not competent. No one is perfect

I thought AR supporters would counter with facts and not lame assertions/explanations that “nobody is perfect” or the cockamamy argument and i quote “if you surely feel that you can do better than AR then be one of the contenders and let the people decide”.
Reminds me of the days Zico days when his supporters could only counter by retorting to bloggers that if you think you can do better than you should go and coach Gor or even that one should enter the field and play whenever a blogger pointed out the teams weakness.
Thank God we’ve moved from those days.
Anyway one of the reasons I will vote for AR despite my misgivings is maintainance institutional memory which is crucial at this stage, the other is so far he’s the only one able to secure a viable sponsorhip deal.
Finally I restate my belief that GM will be more successful( and it will not take 6 years) if we members embrace sound organizational systems/process rather than rely on personalities.
That said I respect everybody right to blog and air whatever views they hold

2 more points, First the following is an extract from this very site of the Head coach’s comment regarding transfers . Judge for yourself if they r comforting.

    IMPORTANT THING
“Our priority is to win the match. It is just three days since I arrived from Scotland and the most important thing is to prepare well,” Williamson said.
The Scot would not be drawn into the transfer saga saying he would only use players at his disposal.

2ndly another re-run of my “alledged campaign for legends”. Though I would have wished and still do that ABLE GM legends should step forward for elective office am surprised that G.Otieno only focussed on ONE SENTENCE & DID SO SELECTIVELY. Actually posted b4 the ill fated elections

    GMMM(GOR MAHIA’S MEMBERS MANIFESTO)=GMM(GOR MAHIA MPYA)
    FANS MUST SET THE AGENDA.
Say no 2 hooliganism, bloated EC, Chaotic 100bob election driven membership.

    MEMBERS’ OBLIGATIONS

    1. Monthly contribution of 600/year(only 50/month) payable in advance, maintained in a permanent electronic register, which WILL FORM the basis 4 shares in a future coop/company. With 2k members GM will b guaranteed kshs.1.2M/year but with 20k members this bcoms 12M. Easy coz Bwana claims FB branch has more than 5K active members.

    2. Fix tickets 4 homes games 2b terraces 150 & VIP 450.
GM has 2 target an average of 15K fans per home game not current 3/4k paying fans. Charging 300 so that EC can facilitate corrupt entry @ 100/50bob is not acceptable.
With goals, entertaining soccer the GM carpet style & security attendance of 15k/home game can be attained. AFC & latter stage CAF games cn b @ 200/500 for terrace/VIP. GM can raise above ksh.40M from these measures.
    3. Recall of non-performing members, but stringent threshold as 2 the time & conditions of recall must be set.
Initial individual membership 4 GM should NEVER B DISCRIMINATORY COZ REMEMBER TERRACE GATE COLLECTIONS R THE BIGGEST REVENUE SOURCE 4 GM.
    4. Appointment of external auditor. This MUST NEVER b left 2 the EC. Pass a resolution that audited GM financials must b published in a national newspaper.

NOW LISTEN AR THESE PRACTICAL STEPS WILL GENERATE KSH. 12+40=52M add Tuzo sponsorship of 29M AND YOU’VE A GAURANTEED KSH.81M enough 4 top players, medical insurance & even start on the stadium. I’ve not mentioned donations & merchandising which EC has mismanaged.
But 2 achieve this FANS MUST agitate 2 restructure EC into a lean board with specific measurable roles against which elected officials’ policies can b gauged i.e

    1. Director Chairman-Sponsorship & Security. These r the immediate priorities for any serious candidate who must put foward concrete policies on sponsorship & security. Note Tuzo deal is only 4 one year. GAURANTEED SECURITY MEANS BETTER ATTENDANCE HENCE HIGHER GATE COLLECTIONS, which together with solid membership means club has a basis to seeking financing for even the stadium, after meeting the basics.

2.Technical & TEAM Welfare Director-Benchmarks cn b policies on medical insurance, coaches accommodation & transport, stability of team etc

3.Membership,Attendance,Public Relations & Transparency Director- 4 a start recruit @ least 2k members/year @600 payable in advance. Aim 4 attendances of at least 15K/home game to ensure that these 2 crucial sources of revenue r maximized. Again though donations r most appreciated the 2 mentioned sources of revenue + merchandizing r the bedrock of any big club.
In GM membership & merchandizing r poorly managed.
4.Marketing, Merchandizing Director-Ensure only genuine GM products r in the market, fakes r eradicated. Merchandize shld b ideally b retailed only by members individuals & cooperate. Another way of encouraging uptake of membership.

5.FIN & ADMIN DIRECTOR-Must publish audited accounts strictly 3 months after year end etc.

LET’S DO AWAY WITH VAGUE UNMEASURABLE POSITIONS OF CHAIRMAN, 3 V.Cs & 5 Secretaries.
The elected directors should then competively hire a lean secretariat, on performance contract, 2 implement board’s policies & daily operations . Key officers shld b CEO, FIn & Admin & Technical Mgr cum Head coach (2 avoid conflicts). Due 2 limited resources Individuals should be able to multitask 2 avoid bloated secretariat.
Elected directors must pledge adequate time/ability to generate proper policies. No. of board meetings per year & compulsory attendance must approved by members.

MEMBERS ITS U 2 SET THE AGENDA & BASIC MANIFESTOS BUT AVOID LAVISH MANIFESTOS & UNKNOWNS.
REMEMBER SUCCESSFUL ELECTIONS HENCE EC IS A PROCESS FAILDED (CHAOTIC) ELECTIONS HENCE BLOATED EC IS AN EVENT.
As i urge qualified legends i.e Obwaka,Lule,Sianga & Makamu & also able bloggers to vie.
Let’s the process we cn use our smses, internet etc.
as am sure EC has adpoted the election date as the classic ambush/ secret weapon.

As it is we don’t have a leadership vacuum now so whoever is in office has their work cut out. The most pressing issue at the moment is to recruit players. While Ingwe has Situma, Kasaya, Keli, Mudde and Shiko we already have Kariuki and Ronald and are chasing Omar Aboud (ingwe also want him), Atudo, Walusimbi, Situmbeko, Bonnie etc. I would like them to add Salat (from Sudan who expressed his wish to play for Gor) or Ken Wendo and Mieno to the list. We actually need a central defender to assist Emuge and Owino and a left back to assit Musa. We also need an offensive Midfielder to get those balls to our lethal but often-starved attack. We also need an attacker who can attract the defenders attention while Danny and Lavatsa et al finish the job.

@ODUOR12, can you also offer yourself to the election and assist in implementing the ideas. I know criticizing is very easy when you are on this bloggers’ site.

Please also learn to appreciate others and give credit to where it is due. Some of your proposals are far fetched and can not see the light of the day where everything is to be maintained at constant or in ‘Ceteris Paribus’ situation or “holding other things constant” or “all other things being equal”.
