Gor Mahia sweep aside KCB 6-1

Two goal hero Kagere with two assist man Wafula

Gor Mahia returned to league action in devastating fashion beating KCB senseless with a score of 6 goals to 1. KCB had very few answers for a rampant Gor Mahia who looked determined to put their CECAFA disappointment behind them.

It was Michael Olunga, the CECAFA cup top scorer who was first on the score-sheet in the 16th minute.  With his typical calmness and poise, he placed the ball home a cross from Godfrey Walusimbi. Walusimbi had in turn received a pass from Wafula who won a midfield battle, beat a defender before passing to Walusimbi.

Rwandese striker Meddie Kagere then doubled the score with a well taken volley from inside the penalty box with a brilliantly taken volley in the 35th minute.

Kagere may as well be credited with a hat-trick. It was his effort that forced KCB defender Mark Odhiambo to put the ball in his own net for an own goal. Kagere deftly lost his marker and directed a cross towards the goal which Odhiambo deflected into his own net for Gor Mahia’s third goal.

At this point KCB came back into the game and gave Gor Mahia some scary moments. The defense looked a tad shaky.  KCB took advantage of this shakiness. Former Gor Mahia striker Mungai Kiongera pulled one back when he converted John Odhiambo’s cross.

But Gor Mahia were not done. Innocent Wafula who had a superb game, had a mazy run down the right flank, then he crossed for Kagere to score his second in the 70th minute with a clinical tap in. Wafula was so lively that he could be credited with man of the match honours. He terrorized KCB defenders all afternoon. The score was now 4-1.

Then it was Michael Olunga’s turn to do the spadework. He fed Khalid Aucho with a neat cross. The Ugandan midfielder made no mistake, blasting the ball home for Gor Mahia’s 5th goal.

Burly striker Enock Agwanda who had come on as a substitute, sealed the score with a thunderous drive after beating two defenners.

All in all it was a good afternoon for Gor Mahia. It is the biggest score in the 2015 Premier league this far. Kagere had a superb performance and scored yet another spectacular goal whose video is likely to go viral. And with Tusker and Ulinzi faltering, Gor Mahia have now pushed their lead to 8 points with 3 games in hand. Their goal difference is a massive 34 which is at least 15 goals better than the next best team.

After the match coach Nuttall said the win was due to his team’s ability to focus.

“I asked the team to bring their focus back to the local league and today they showed that the focus is where it is supposed to be”, said Nuttall after the match.

On hand to watch Gor Mahia raid the bankers vault was Frank Nuttall’s daughter, son and wife who were welcomed by Jaro Soja and other fans.

  • Good game by Gor. KCB is also commended for at least tryn to play. Gor defence however needs to be more alert. This kind of defencing would not hold against the big boys of Africa, I thnk this is the league Gor Mahia is all about. El mereik n el Alhly of Sudan have set the pace. I bet Azam will nolonger look back anymore. We have a gud tournament in cecafa…Gor made a more than big statement. Nxt year they will b back n bigger. I thnk that in Kenya, Nakumatt FC will b the nxt Azam in terms of resources. This is the team that can challenge Gor in the nxt 3 yrs or so. For now Gor is on a free way so lets enjoy the ride…but again improve that defence. Gud play by Wendo n Aguanda. I commend these guys for blending in so well dispite the few games they have played. For Kagere, ur simply a genius in ur play. Wafula has shown he is bright…the pass to Kagere was master stroke. Olunga remains his usuall genius n terror to any defence. Sibouma n Nzigimana et Aucho….keep it up.

Your sentiments are very elating. Unity is power. We must just direct it in doing the right things. This team is standing and holding ground because of that. Yes we are not the richest but we have shown potential and possibility. Let us strike the iron while it is still hot.

We did what we know best “inflict total pain on other teams” let all know we just don’t sing “timbe duto ywak ni”. we mean it.

waiting for haters, they can pick a line like the match was fixed. and there was an own goal. Kimazi with his local lads playing a draw to Western Sitima was good enough to tell him that he need to look elsewhere for excuses.

waiting to hear from @ingo on whether AFC played this weekend. and the result.

Laduuuuumaaaaa!!!!!!!!! One sports commentator and KCB supporter on an FM station had been asked to propose numbers that they (KCB moto pasi) wanted to take home but he didn’t so we went by our own numbers. I remembered that exchange when it started raining goals, and didn’t it pour!!!!! Congratulation team Kogalo, who will stop you?

I hope the players do not have your overconfident attitude. Too much confidence could see them lose to City Stars

  • Congrats.. Boys, I think the win of yesterday we should Dedicated to Prof. Nuttal Family and People like Kimanzi who are against Foreign Players, if it were not FP, Western Stima were walking away with three points. Am just wondering why Ngama should score a goal for somebody like Kimanzi who is not willing to see them in Kenya earning their living here?.May the all the Glories goes to the most High in Heaven. Amen. Ushuru, NKRU All Stars and Semeji are on the lines of K’Ogalo.

As we move on, maybe our defense need to be more alert so that we can as well maintain a clean sheet as we continue with the unbeaten run.

I think for now we are not worried about whether or not we will lift the trophy because that looks almost obvious with our current form but our biggest pride is to take it in a fashion i.e. to go all the way unbeaten.
