Gor Mahia take on City Stars

All the remaining matches in the 2014 season are pivotal so calling this match important would be redundant. Gor Mahia are still perched at the top of the standings with 48 points, but only two ahead of challengers Sofapaka. There is no longer any more room for error. A draw or a loss could see Gor Mahia relinquish the league leadership.

During the match towards the league win last season, Gor Mahia recorded very convincing wins. This season is different larfgely due to the instability that has plagued the club. However, having gone through the four matches in 10 days marathon, Gor Mahia have had over a week to relax worn muscles. Coach Frank Nuttall has had some breathing space to settle, identify working combinations and raise the fitness levels of the team.

So when Gor Mahia take on City stars on Saturday at Nyayo stadium, fans expect a more convincing performance especially since it is against against City stars. However stars will come out fighting since they are in danger of relegation.

And according to captain Jerim Onyango, the players are determined to retain the trophy.

“We must retain the trophy and everyone in the team is working towards that goal. We want to win all our remaining matches so we can’t start dropping points against City Stars” said Jerry “Jagoal” to the KPL website.

Once again Gor Mahia will depend on Dan Ssserunkuma to reproduce the form he had against Chemelil but this time against his former team. Sserunkuma has 11 league goals but has indicated that winning the league is his number one priority.

  • the current squad is on top form, just take a game at a time and we would be good to go, the pressure is not on us but our chasers, personally i am prepared for all the three possible scenarios-LOSS-DRAW-WIN. so our good players, enjoy your game……….

I wish K’galo all the best against City Stars.

Just came across this wonderful news after Erico’s post. But I hope Jakom AR does not do a Lordvick Aduda on this noble idea.

    Cash-strapped Gor Mahia registers Sacco

The saying ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ could not have acquired a more current example than the financial woes facing Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia at the moment. The 13-time KPL winners are teetering on the verge of bankruptcy after Kenya Revenue Authority slapped a Sh118 million tax demand on the club and expiry of a kit sponsorship deal with giant dairy manufacturer Brookeside Dairies through its Tuzo brand.
Gor which has been in existence since 1968 has been forced to seek alternative sources of income to run the club and yesterday club chairman Ambrose Rachier announced that they have registered a co-operative society as an investment arm of the club. Appearing on K24’s Afrajiri show yesterday, Rachier said the society will target 10,000 fans capable of contributing Sh1,000 monthly in an effort to bolster the club’s financial stability and minimise dependence on sponsors.
“We currently need corporate sponsorship to meet our financial needs but there is a school of thought that Gor can do without such deals, that there are other options of survival. I know we have value to give and our reference is our immediate former sponsors Tuzo who I know for sure have very good things to say about us,” said Rachier. Rachier who is also the KPL chairman conceded that hooliganism could have played a part in keeping probable sponsors at bay.
“We know what people feel about us and it is not the best outlook but we have instituted educative measures which are bearing fruits. At KPL, we declared zero tolerance to hooliganism and anybody who dares will face disciplinary actions be it Gor or anyone else,” said Rachier barely three days after a league tie between Thika United and AFC Leopards was abandoned with six minutes to play when fans pelted match officials with stones.
Rachier said that the club will seek a strategic partner to help construct a stadium at their Embakasi grounds before he ends his stay at the club. “I joined the club in 2008 and I have realised most of my dreams. The remaining one is constructing a stadium for this great club. It’s a long shot and needs sound financial backing. The idea of a co-operative society could not be timelier,” he added.
K’Ogalo have defied their financial woes to stay on course for a title defence with a four- point gap between them and second-placed Chemelil Sugar. The club solely relies on gate collections and donations after KRA attached their alternative sources of income from league sponsors Tusker and broadcast rights holders SuperSport.
Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier has responded to Football Kenya Federation’s (FKF) demands for apology over a publication which stated Ko’galo’s unhappiness with the trip to Brazil.

    Friday 20th June,2014
In his letter to FKF Chairman Sam Nyamweya, Ambrose has dismissed publication by a local daily which quoted Lordvick Aduda as saying that the trip to Brazil was ill-advised and Gor Mahia was unhappy with the whole arrangement.
He has expressed the club’s happiness with the fact that its players got the chance to watch the World Cup in Brazil because that is an opportunity for exposure and experience.
    No authority
Mr. Ambrose further affirmed that Mr. Aduda has no authority to speak on behalf of the club having been suspended by FKF in April 24.
-Mr. Lordvick Aduda is not the Chief executive Officer of the club and has no authority to speak on behalf of Gor Mahia FC, Ambrose said via the letter. …..

This SaCCo idea is noble and all of us should work towards its success. Its success will benefit both the club and individual members. However I don’t see us working towards that when from the word ‘Go’ we start by remarks meant to portray some as mere noise makers. I would rather that we adopt a mentality of not seeing ourselves as perfect and holier-than-thou. Instead, if we truly want this venture to succeed and be sustainable, we should try encouraging and enriching comments that will attract more to join in.

I want this day Saturday 4th October 2014 to be successful for Gor Mahia both in Nairobi and Awendo where as Okoth Jabilo has indicated, Jo-Ndhiwa should take charge.

My humble opinion is please let all of us register as members of this club first then when the meeting is called coz av a clue that these people want to call 4 a meeting of only the people who have registered with the club sometime after the league,so we need to register so that we can attend this is the right forum where we can be able 2 change how this club is managed please.

@The Bandit HAPO SAWA KABISA , that is what MURURI has learned painfully and swallowed his bullish comments against K’Ogalo. Truly JO-NDIWA “Miracles” is turning into a nightmare for all the contenders and CHEMO are still claiming that they are DOWN but not out of contention with 4 games to go.

If Gor wins today then, we require just the worst to happen to SOFAPAKA in AWENDO and we shall breakaway from the rest. Am not worried of our fixtures cause both BREWKENGE and SOFAPAKA have to square out while the likes of EFUSI and OTHERS will definitely spoil the party and become the king makers. ULINZI has done JO-NDHIWA a lot of favor in derailing both CHEMO and BREWKENGE. It is ZICO’s moment to harm PAKA and make KALEKWA understand that GOR MAHIA is GOR MAHONO.
