Gor Mahia take on SoNy Sugar

Fans will no doubt show up in large numbers hoping for something to cheer

Gor Mahia return to league action this Sunday as they take on SoNy Sugar of Awendo on Sunday at the City stadium.

All week long Gor Mahia players have been saying how much they learned from their CECAFA experience.

“We returned from Rwanda with vital lessons, and the whole team is focused on retaining the title,” Williamson added.

Fans will be hoping that they can put those lessons into action. Indeed fans will be looking for something to cheer after a period of bad news.

SoNy coach Zedekiah Otieno “Zico” has nnaounced that his team is determined to secure all three points despite missing key players Sylvester Wanyama and Victor Ademba.

“We have prepared very well. It is just unfortunate that we will be missing some players but we are well motivated especially after the KPL disciplinary committee listened to our appeal. I believe the boys will measure up,” Otieno, a former Gor coach, told Saturday the Nation.

Williamson to assist in search for new coach

As Gor Mahia embark on finding a coach to replace the departing Bobby Williamson, it has emerged that Williamson will be assisting the club in finding his replacement. According to futaa.com the team will be searching for a coach who will neither interrupt with his style of play nor conduct with the player unit and one that understands his philosophy well, possibly a man he has closely worked with previously.

Among the names mentioned before this former Harambee stars coach Jacob Ghost Mulee who was recently fired by FKF. Then there is former club coach and player Sammy Omollo “Pamzo”.

  • My take for 2015..we need new faces!

Head coach : ljubko petrovich ( current APR coach)

Assistant coaches : Sammy omollo ‘ pamzo’ and JBO

Otherwise this weekend , we are pledging to give players Kshs 100000 after the sony game as motivation….I reckon if we can do this for the next 4 games and we win them all….the league title has been retained !

Ghost Mulee fits the bill for me. Though i must say both have been analyzing the team from outside and know what to build on. City here we come and i pray we win.

If those are the only choices to opt for then Pamzo should come as an assistant to Bobby Ogala they can work together as they are former Gor players and maybe they might have Gor at heart given the current situation.

Remember the way “we”kicked out Pamzo the last time? Shame on us that we can think of getting him back. If I were Sammy I wouldn’t take it at whatever cost.Even Bobby O should start quitting before we rubbish his bright legacy, “we” are notorious for that.Mulei is a no,no; Perhaps hard man Zico can stand “us” and our bad habits.NOW ATTACK ME EVERYBODY.

  • GorMahia shud talk to Matano. This is the only kenyan coach worth the name of coach. the other ofcourse being Siang’a who the stone the clubs stone brigade chased away. amusing that they are now asking for Sammy Omollo to come back. well, if he is that daft then maybe he deserves the job. the other option is to give the job to John Ogolla to prove himself once and for all. he is an option i would go for now if the Matano refuses the job.
Now the coaching success will depend on the players who are quickly turning out to be cons. so they claim they have learnt alot. who are these players who are learning football now and what exactly have they learnt. how to defend or how to complete a pass. These guys will continue being the same unless they change their negative energy.
Gor mahia football fraternity only has one problem. it is not about the kneejack solutions ppl keep posting here or about structures et all. the club officials and supporters are simply have poor business acumen. i congratulate the fans who have been brave enough to criticize the wrongs at gor. unlike the sycophants think that support gor shud be praised even when there is so much going wrong.
350100 has proved that gor has a very small support base.i would not put this number beyond 30k. the so called 1 million supporters are basically an imagination. to counter this small support base is probably a number of 50k who are ready to steal, stone and loot in the name of gor. these are the ppl who control gor… and are the real problem at gor. for gor to get to the 1 mill fans base, get rid of these 50 otherwise keep dreaming about sponsorship , goodplayers and good coaches. unfortunately the 50k or so are the only group ready to fight for anything at gor. so when a coach says Gor has won some of it’s win matches thru’ intimidation… this is very true. it’s a vice players themselves have taken advantage of at city stadium n it’s no secret. otherwise keep dreaming that gor will get out of current dooldrums… time when gud players played just for fun of the game is long gone. Now it’s business and the faster jengs realise this the better for gor. the 50k and 30k are not necessarily correct but my say is that the braineless bigger lot are the ones in control at gor. the vicious circle is made of the EC, players unit and the 50k, thse 3 really feed on each other, it’s only Logarusic who was able to free himself from this circle.

  • managers have different ways of getting results and maybe the current EC are not media oriented and so fans are unable to get information on what is happening thats why they keep on speculating but to him i think EC is working is just things are not happening.

I dont think Gor can get a sponsor now, basing my argument on the current political environment since getting a sponsor will eat into the image of TUZO. THE BEST EC CAN DO IS TO SWALLOW THEIR PRIDE AND GO N FACE TUZO MANAGEMENT FOR CONTRACT NEGOTIATION, am very sure TUZO is missing Gor, also remember its Gor that has put TUZO where it is now and if u been watching and listening the Tv or Radio TUZO rarely advertises its product.

If they get this TUZO deal you will see other sponsors following suit, and this approach can be done through media.

It is wise for EC to get advice from BW on hiring his successor. I suggested this on the blogg and i thank EC for listening to me, we need to get a level minded coach and not a thug.

some are suggesting Bobby ogola but to me let him be assistant coach and also i urge EC to bring on AUSTIN ODUOR to work on voluntary basis.

Sianga & JBO (Sorry Sir) (I salute these great GM legends) both have health issues, so I doubt in they can really handle the pressures of head coach.
Its been disapproved time & time again that coaches “chased away” will never agree to coach GM.
On this very site some swore that Sir.JBO would never agree to coach K’galo but what are we seeing now. The same applies to Pamzo if the terms( read money) are right he will come.
Why should Captain Makamu work on a voluntary basis?
The most important consideration is what Dinga @ 7 has said:
“it’s only Logarusic who was able to free himself from this circle.”
We are enjoying the last fruits of Loga’s legacy. (apart from his follies) His success was his ability to keep the machinations of EC to a minimum.
We need another Logarusic type as we can’t afford the man himself.
BW choosing his successor, to maintain his style (i.e patia sere?) and conduct with playing unit of not complaining about non-payment of salaries and allowances and consequently bowing out of competitions.
EC STOP TRYING TO SIDETRACK US WITH THIS HEAD COACH ISSUE AND CLEAR PLAYERS ALLOWANCES FIRST.

  • Mbaka mit kabisa. Gor this way Gor that way..players we have learnt, EC we are looking for a coach..fans we want results..all this is good for the club.

Gor is a force probably what is keeping it going is the “invisible hand”, the name that was built through hard work of the yesteryear’s players and management and fans.

Its amazing that tday with all the social connection Gor should look like an “Ebola Victim” can’t attract sponsor, can’t compete in a regional tournament..Kuku ya shamba hii?

Changing this trajectory will call for purposeful and deliberate action from Gor fraternity, we got to fix this house. We can’t let the club be run on “benevolence of individuals”, without Rachier things fall apart.

We need to pull together in the same direction jokanyanam.

@ olu i like your post, and i would like to tell bloggers here that it is our chairman who has put us in all this mess and i will not fear saying that we cant go anywhere beyond the place we are know with this chairman.the guy has reached his peak and cant think beyond it concerning gor mahia management.we have to look for another person who can take this club from where we are know to another level. He has also done his part we cant dispute but the guy cant go beyond here know.It is rachier who is putting us in all these crisis we could have signed a deal long time ago with some companies before we were caught up with this politics of referendum but the guy dont want accountability.Even TUZO never wanted to leave us but they only asked for the money they had given to be accounted for and no one was willing to do that.Bloggers who can give you his millions of shillings and you dont even account for it and show how you are using it….?Again by the time TUZO was renewing their contract last year they wanted to give gor mahia a very long contract but because our chairman was 50/50 in the elections which were coming he refused to accept that long contract so who do we blame here….?There are also some companies who have come since the time Tuzo withdrew and it is the chairman dodging them,so we are our own enemies but know i dont see ourself succesful with this issue of referendum let us just pray and continue supporting the club through contributions.

At times I wonder how fast we forget. We literally chased away the old man Sianga in Thika. Same way we hounded Pamzo, Auka, Zico, Gedion etc out of Gor. At that time the call was that coaches come and go. What hss changed now? When TUZO gave indications of pulling out we said there were many sponsors waiting to take over. What changed? We even said we can sponsor the team ourselves. Some of us were even bragging how we have an influencial ‘Team Captain’ who would sort all these issues. I hope we have now seen the reality and will be sober on our actions and utterances

  • I hope that it will not be farguson/ moyes like advice from BW. This idea of scotsmen prefering to choose their succesors I think will not improve football in Gor bcos it was a flop in Man utd. What I hope BW shud do is to conduct interview to coaches & short least two for EC to choose & not him to choose. If I were 2 hire a coach i wud go for Ugandan KCCA coach.
