Now Sec Gen Omondi says Bobby is leaving

Gor Mahia secretary general William Omondi has now indicated that coach Bobby Williamson will be leaving Gor Mahia to focus entirely on Harambee stars.

“Bobby is with us for only Sunday’s league match against SoNy Sugar after which he will be taking up his new role as head coach of Harambee Stars,” Omondi told Gor Mahia website.

On clearing the air about reports that K’Ogalo had not received official approach from Football Kenya Federation, Omondi said the executive is now aware of the appointment and plans are underway to fill up the gap left by the Scot because they have received numerous applications.

“We are fully aware of his appointment and we, as a club, we are weighing out options whether to have an interim coach to take care of the team for the next remaining league matches or to hire a coach, who will fully take us through to next season. We have quite a number of applications and we will consider all of them and see how we can land on one coach to lead the team.”

Omondi indicated that the club appreciates everything Bobby has done and that they would seek his advice as neccesary.

“We as a club truly appreciate Williamson’s work since he arrived in Gor Mahia. He is a professional coach, who saw us through tough times and through his guidance, we won the title and we are at a very good position to clinch the title again this season. We wish him well and we will seek for his advice if necessary because he said he will be available for advice.”

Omondi said they are in the process of finding a new coach.

” We have quite a number of applications and we will consider all of them then see how we can land on one coach to lead the team. We are weighing out options whether to have an interim coach to take care of the team for the next remaining league matches or to hire a coach who will fully take us through to next season.,” he added.

This brings an end to speculation, denials and counter-denials regarding the status of coach Williamson

Rachier Rushes to City stadium to avert Go slow

Gor Mahia chairman was forced to rush to city stadium to pay players and avert a go slow.

Rachier arrived at training ground early in the morning and gave out some money to assistant coach Bob Ogolla to hand over to the players.

The players are reported to have gone on a go slow since Monday protesting at unpaid training and winning allowances.

But Rachier denied reports of a go slow insisting that all is well in camp. “It is true that we owe them some money and I have cleared a bit of it on Thursday morning. No player went on strike.

“All they did was express concern over the delay in paying what we owed them and this has been sorted out and they are all happy and looking forward to Sunday’s game against Sony Sugar,” Rachier told goal.com.

Reports emerged on Wednesday that Gor Mahia players’ were planning to boycott their league match against Sony Sugar unless their training allowances were paid in full. It turned out that they were demanding allowances due after the CECAFA campaign.

Though as a coach I had my very strong reservations about BW’s tactics/performance am still surprised he has so easily parted ways with his “beloved” club.
He and his supporters hyped his “loyalty” up so much as to overlook his not winning any trophy during his stay at GM by his own right. On his part didn’t he have a plan to carry out.
At one time he’s committed to K’galo then the next minute ati Sunday is his last game.
That said I wish him well coz his was no doubt a gentleman.
What pisses me off is how players/ coaches walk in and out of GM at a whim.
Why is EC signing flimsy contracts (6 months).
E.g if BW is now leaving after Sunday’s game what was the point of him taking the team to CECAFA?
Rama came and left. Oboya came with a injury to “recover” and was strangely missed at CECAFA.
We really need to get the GM house in order, obviously Jakom Rachier with due respect seems to be out of his dept this time. Structures, structures, structures without them Mr.Rachier GM is sinking why can’t you SEE THAT.
Am sure we can get a very competent coach from e.g Zambia etc at a competitive rate.

    P.S.
I don’t have Rachier’s (or even Baba’s) millions but I am willing to sacrifice nay invest/contribute 500bob monthly towards the club I love.
Obviously my 500bob is peanuts so we need another 9,999 of us BUT….
I say towards the Mighty Gor Mahia not line the pockets of EC. So accountability, transparency & proper structures are my only conditions.
I can’t go to fetch water from the river with a straw basket never!
Let’s put football first at Gor Mahia.

@Oduo12. It appears that according to you Bobby Williamson has not won any trophy while in Gor. May I ask you to tell us which coach got the TPL winners medal for 2013? You seem to be a good man living in denial. Let me give you another analogy from EPL. Moyes coached Man Utd last season for 34 EPL matches and Ryan Giggs for 4 matches as an interim coach. Officially it is Ryan Giggs that led the team to position 7 and not Moyes. You will never see Moyes name anywhere as the coach that led Man Utd to No 7. Therefore in all history books that will be written, the name of Bobby Williamson will be the one that will appear as the coach who won TPL 2013, you like it or not. Your so called Logarusic certainly did not win any TPL in his time as Gor coach and his name will never appear there even if Oduor12 wants it. Welcome to reality my brother!!

At Kogalo camp everything is handled on Ad hoc basis. They were even not aware that Bobby was on his way out until this evening, The players have to stage a go slow for them to paid, the EC will wait until the last minute to try to tie down the players after their contract is long gone, they don’t want to engage K.R.A and yet they are employers, they will never give the updates on the public project ‘read 350100’ and they expect you to keep on paying, they go to a tournament where a team from South Sudan progresses to the next stage they fail – then they come back claiming that they have learned something since when did Gor become an experimental team? AND YET THEY EXPECT YOU TO SUPPORT, SUPPORT, SUPPORT. Since I want us to win the KPL I’ll try to support.

And finally AR is seemingly is overwhelmed by the problems of his own creation at Gor. he has ran out of steam.

As an esteemed blogger once put it people have a strange way of internalizing blogs. They read them & twist & turn them in their mind & spew out strange interpretations.
Anyway are the players now eating the medical insurance & Joma kits.
I said it ages ago pay a man(players) his dues then demand performance.

So for the levelminded what I have an issue with is THE MANNER IN WHICH PLAYERS & COACHES EXIT FROM OUR CLUB.
MY VIEW ON BW’S EXIT PER SE HAS NOT CHANGED NEITHER HAS MY VIEW ON EC’S BLOATEDNESS OR THEIR WAY OF CONDUCTING GM AFFAIRS.
ITS NOTHING PERSONAL ITS ABOUT VERY VERY POOR STRUCTURES (DELIBERATELY IN MY VIEW) & WE ARE NOW SEEING THE CONSEQUENCES.
YOU CAN KEEP ON SWEEPING DIRT UNDER THE CARPET FOREVER.

  • wel, to me, bobby was a good coach but the truth is that tpl was half won by logarusic and half by him, and according to the results that we have been registering lately, i cant suggest authoritatively that he is a good coach, therefore, his performance was wanting. you guys need to give the EC a break, what rachier did was providing leadership under such circumstances, what else did the critics expect him to do?

As much as we have a right to criticize I have never heard from some particular bloggers even acknowledging some good things the EC has done. We know they are there to do good things for the club but we must always take our situation in perspective.
I believe bringing in Walusimbi, Kizito and even BW is partially what has brought us this far. Not forgetting the ever-present fans. Getting the Chase deal as well as the Joma deals are also positive things on the club. Otherwise we would still be depending on well-wishers to kit the club and players going to the run-down clinics for medical. Anybody in this Nairobi knows the hassles of medical care. On getting a sponsor as much as the EC has that mandate we all know the polarization and stigmization of the Kenyan society. Our fans also have not made it easy for the club to get a sponsor due to the negative publicity. This is something we have to improve on since some of those we harrass could be the persons holding the purse to the sponsorship.
By the way does the SG ever read the issues fans raise all over the place. These includes the 350100 updates, Chase membership drive as well as the KRA debacle. At first I thought there would be a change once George Bwana leaves but now i really miss the guy

Let’s elevate John Bobby Ogola to the top position and give him an assistant, for now he can handle Gor Mahia Technical Bench exceptionally well since he’s been under the two previous Coaches. Then after the current league is over we can take the stocks. Ama?

@ levelminded also try to be open minded.
Right now priority is not hiring a coach but ensuring that first & foremost the players'(& TB’s) salaries, then next their allowances are upto date.

Then EC may have to take drastic measure of even cutting our coat according to our suit cloth. I.E RENEGOTIATE CONTRACTS OF ALL PARTIES TO FIT THE CURRENT FINANCIAL SITUATION AT THE CLUB.

PAYMENT OF SALARIES/ALLOWANCES MUST NEVER BE AN ISSUE AGAIN COZ YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DEMAND THAT SOMEONE PERFORMS YET YOU HAVE NOT PAID THEM. IT DOESN’T WORK.PERIOD.

Once that is sorted out I suggest GM goes for a competent African(non Kenyan) coach. Bobby/Loga were earning in excess of maybe 600,000 monthly.
Am sure GM (EC for now) can get a quality coach for maybe 300,000/month or a bit less.
BTW GM is not a village club for Oduor12 to suggest names of coaches. Proper reading of the article indicates applications are already flowing in and those applying know the financial situation of the club. To think that the office does not have a database of potential coaches is naive.

The issue is choosing the best qualified coach given our situation. Challenge is for the selection process to be purely on merit.

As for sponsorship so we’ll let GM slip into the realm of mediocracy for lack of a corporate sponsor.

LET’S START A COOPERATIVE EVEN WITH 2500 (OR 500) MEMBERS
LET’S SWALLOW OUR PRIDE & TAKE 2 YEARS MAKING SURE THAT
GM HAS SOUND STRUCTURES(PLAYERS/TB SALARIES & TERMS & EXPECTATIONS PROFESSIONALLY WORKED OUT & HONOURED BY ALL PARTIES), A SOUND FINANCIAL BASE.

WHEN SUCCESS STARTS FLOWING IN EVERYBODY WILL WANT TO JOIN THE BANDWAGON.
    I REST MY CASE!

    @Dan above,

With all due respect to you as a person and GM fan. The beginning and end of current GM’s troubles are the same and its all you’ve enumerated at the end of your contribution.

I wonder how we should praise AR and criticize him for the same things..i also hope no one has forced anyone to stop praising AR and his perennial angelic speed with bahasha to pay players allowances.

What will GM gain when the Walusimbis, Kizitos and those players exposed by GM finally walks out freely from GM to other teams without a penny from signing fees? Has it not happened before?

Its these cosmetic solutions that brought GM to where it is today. Its the same fans who think along the EC’s mind set that keep aspirants splashing cash to be elected for the very wrong intentions.

I am glad you’ve somehow admitted that its the responsibility of AR to convince sponsors, keep books of accounts to clear the KRA debacle etc.

@oduor 12, SWALLOW OUR PRIDE ! You have actually NOW solved our problem….it is gor mahi’a’s pride that made them who they are, now it is the same pride that will bring them down.

For our problems to be solved, we have to resolve to address the biggest legal and institutional reform ever undertaken in this country – transform gor mahia from a community club to a professional outfit with accountable directors and adent shareholders.

Who wants to take this Herculean task? Time will tell and hopefully god will help us through!

And even if we form that SACCO or a professional outfit….we still have to SWALLOW our PRIDE and go for 3-5 years before earning any return in investment……everything is hard for this club…..we just have to believe we can do it !!!! TP mazembe did it so at least there is somebody who can advice/give a helping hand.

Might Gor sweeps the board win a treble
    Can anyone stop Mighty K’galo?
    Mighty Gor are CECAFA champs
Mighty Gor are the best in Africa again
Mighty Gor to open their own 20,000 seater stadium
    ITS MIGHTY GOR AGAIN

  • As Gor fans we keep on blaming everything and nothing. lets think constructively infact getting and paying a coach is not an issue they are so many qualified coaches outside there who wants to come to GOR and they can accept lesser pay. which coach outside there does not know that Gor are faced with financial constraints, as i said previously let the EC invite as many coaches as possible whoever accepts our situations let him be hired.

when is Gor relocating to Kisumu? how can they continue paying 20% on gate collection and kes 20000 on hiring the city stadium from Nairobi county, LETS SWALLOW OUR PRIDE AND RELOCATE TO KISUMU and i know Ec does want to excute this decision that they will become laughing stocks. but i ask myself how long are we going to beg. if the current Nairobi Gor fans does not want to support Gor why force them, Kisumu fan will support Gor it is there turn.

some fans makes funny argument i.e Ec is not accountable and they ve not been updating them on mpesa paybill no. but when u scrutinize the previous statement some fans were contributing fake figures. why are we so much concerned with KRA issues kwani do we want to pay the penalty, thats is a dead issue and we should not be bothered by it.

we cannot blame AR for everything that happens, he has done his best and we should complement him.

some are suggesting EC renegotiate all contracts with a view to giving reduced pecks buts generally this is not acceptable, the way to go in future is get talents from schools and pay them moderately in doing this we shall bring done wages to atleast 1.5MILLION per month from the current 2.5millon per month

Obwera @24 you are wrong, there is no any coach worth it’s salt who will come to Gor when there is no money and basically that’s why Bobby Williamson is running away to HS because at Gor he’s not sure of his future financially. Had he been comfortable at Gor he would not have gone knowing that the current HS coach status is still contestable.

Secondly accountability is about rendering everything bare for all to see. Had we been updated on the situation of the finances especially the 350100 which is a public property we would not be complaining about nothing. For instance we would be able to know the fake contributors and the genuine ones and be aware of the state of the affairs. This will definitely help us to up our stakes when necessary.

Thirdly K.R.A is not a dead issue because our accounts are temporarily frozen up-till the EC furnish the K.R.A with their books and explain themselves out of the situation, that’s why even Tuzo is still with holding the last batch of the cash they were suppose to remit to us. Why has the EC not done so? The K.R.A issue is not at standstill, they have put they case to Gor, Gor has to clear with them meanwhile the current taxable things at Gor are still piling up. Even those talent from school you are talking about will be under employment thus their returns must be remitted to K.R.A, that’s why KRA will never be a dead issue Sir.
