Gor Mahia to leave for Congo Friday

Gor Mahia are set to leave for Congo on Friday. The original plan was to leave on Wednesday but that came a cropper due to lack of funds.

In February, Gor Mahia’s trip to Madagascar was saved thanks to assistance from former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth. This time it was the KPL that gave Gor Mahia a grant.

“We’ve been given a grant by the Kenyan Premier League Limited and we shall travel to Brazzaville tomorrow (today) before we make

our way to Dolisie,” said Rachier to the Nation. He also said players have been paid part of the money owed to the in salaries.

The match will take place on Sunday afternoon. Gor Mahia will be battling against the odds having lost the first leg at home 0-1. And they will try to win despite missing two days of practise due to a player strike.

Rachier has re-iterated that the club’s primary focus is the Kenya Premier League.

“Our targets as a club focus more on retaining the KPL title than winning the Caf Champions League trophy. Besides, the national league, will have matches to honour long after the champion’s league tournament is over and that is why we were willing to forgo the competitions and instead use the little money we have to make the players comfortable. We have today given the players part of the money owed to them,” he continued.

  • You see, even Rachier agrees with my philosophy about focusing on tournaments that Gor have a high probability of winning…….Anyway, good luck mashemeji. I am sending 5,000 shillings to help with your kitty. Fly that flag high like Paul Ereng, Douglas Wakihuri, John Ngugi, Robert Wangila Napunyi and yes like the 87 Gor team did. Tuko pamoja

  • Please aim higher coz the league you can still retain , work on a longterm strategy to raise finances for the club , if you always win the league , you must play in the champions league.A leader needs too work on both long term and short term financial needs of an institution.

  • If you don’t want to play in the champions league then simple …..stop winning the league.

I want our EC to stop talking too much. Kogallo has been fundraising since 1976. It’s time we fans overhaul the club’s legaland institutional structures.

    • ……….and Kogallo has a miserable continental record since 1976. So should you continue doing the same thin? No!

EC is surely at sixes and sevens, even their ardent sympathizers will admit. The issue is that continental assignments are too expensive for GMFC while KPL could be manageable.

EC had the opportunity of withdrawing from CAF cup but EC opted to take part so we thought they had planned for it but now it turns out otherwise.
I’ve always said EC cannot afford sustained winning by GMFC.
EC CANNOT AFFORD A WIN AGAINST AC LEOPARDS PLAIN & SIMPLE.
CAF CUP IS THE MOST GLAMOROUS TOURNAMENT IN AFRICA AND BY EXTENSION KENYA SO FORGIVE BUT JAKOM IS TALKING B***S**T HERE.

I WISH GMFC A WIN IN CONGO.

I hope no match fixing takes place. Our players are so vulnerable. Even the official. They can be compromised easily. Seen kilo saying comparatively Kenya police are angles.
    All the best

@Compresser, please give us the name of your preffered candidate so that ew can start evaluating him or her. Currently the team is suffering and if there is someone out there who can assist but is just keeping quiet then I don’t think that is a friend of Gor. We now know that we have friends of Gor like Peter Kenneth out there. We want to see the rest. It will be hard to evaluate candidates on what they say during the campaign period without a record behind them

      • @ D.O I do acknowledge & appreciate A.R’s role in GMFC’s revival lakini please note & accept GMFC is not “Rachier Babes” but none other than MIGHTY GOR MAHIA- 12 TIME KENYAN LEAGUE CHAMPS BEFORE AR’S NO.13&14,UNBEATEN’76, CECAFA CHAMPION THREE TIMES OVER & ’87 AFRICAN/CAF CHAMPS.
THERE’VE BEEN & WILL BE BETTER & LESSER CHAIRMEN THEN AR BUT TO TELL US THAT WE LOWER OUR EXPECTIONS IS OUT OF ORDER SINCE EVERY ERA HAS ITS CHALLENGES. OTHER CHAIRMEN LIFTED THE LEAGUE,REGIONAL/AFRICAN TITLES WITH LESS!
