Gor Mahia to name coach on Tuesday

Eric Ochieng and Blackberry in action against Djibouti Telecom

Gor Mahia are set to name a coach to replace Bobby Williamson on Tuesday August 26. This according to a report by the Standard newspaper.

Coach Bobby Williamson has indicated that he has given his suggestion as to whom should take over as coach.

“I have talked to the chairman (Ambrose Rachier) and recommended someone for the job. It is someone who is a qualified coach and one who can lift up this club to greater heights,” he said to the Standard.

And in a separate report, Williamson heaped praise on his long time assistant and club legend Bobby Ogolla, thus hinting at whom his personal favourite would be.

“Ogolla has done a wonderful job and will be a good replacement,” he said.

From a continuity perspective, Ogolla would be good. But it remains to be seen whether his health can withstand the pressures of being Kogalo coach.

Club Chairman Ambrose Rachier is said to prefer Zedekiah Otieno. But Otieno is unlikely to leave SoNy Sugar mid season.

Former coach Zdvarko Logarusic would be a fan favourite but given his past history of agitating for higher pay and the financial status of the club, he is an unlikely choice.

With Gor Mahia having regained their position atop the Tusker premier league, it will be critical that a suitable replacement is found who can enable the club to maintain its position starting this Thursday against KCB who are determined to fend off relegation.

National Team

Meanwhile Williamson has officially taken over as Harambee stars coach and has named four Gor Mahia players in the squad to play Egypt. New sensation Timothy Otieno is likely to make his full debut. Other Kogalo players named are David Owino, Jerim Onyango and Anthony Akumu who is out on loan. Bernard Odhiambo, a younger brother to David Owini has been named.

It is interesting that when Harambee stars needed quality friendlies, there were no quality matches organized. Now that Stars are eliminated from competitive football for two years, then FKF has seen it fit to line up to quality friendlies against Egypt and Morocco

  • That means the new kogallo coach is likely to come from somebody who is not currently employed……..my take is either ausitin oduor or Tobias ocholla but since BW will have a say, I guess it will frank ouna as JBO looks unwell.

The best we can do is to support whoever is chosen to take over as coach. I hope for once we can agree on the choice and give all the necessary support

@Jakoyo, I request that you meet the EC immediately and give them your choice of the coach. This time round we will have a friendly coach because he will be the cosen one (by Jakoyo, Ogando and Oduori12) Our task will be to support your choice regardless of the tactics employed. I BEG YOU NOT TO WASTE THIS GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE YOUR CHOICE. However, prefer you apply for the job yourself

@Pmawego, I share your sentiments. Whoever is recommended by ODUOR12 and Jakoyo, I will fully support. Please my very respected bloggers, go ahead and engage the inept EC before they make another mistake of hiring a tactless coach.
Kogallo Mayienga has been, is and ever shall be. Absolutely worried about nothing. For God and my beloved club Kogallo.

The former TM has been chosen to lead the team in the interim. Let’s give him our support. I hope @Jakoyo, @ogango and @oduor12 will give him the nefessary duppory just like the rest of us. I wonder what the statement ‘the coavh yo come from somebody not employed’ means. Surely we cannot have someone with a 8-5pm job to be our coach. And by the way it’s not a crime to be unemployed. It could be by choice or fate

@oswozo moziek, these 3 bloggers have never appreciated any coach contracted by the club be it Agido, Zico, Loga, BW. That is why we wanted them to propose a tactful coach this time round now that an opportunity has arisen.

  • my take and only absolute interest presently is to get a coach who would help us retain the title and build a team for the 2015 season. if it was my wish, we would have gone for a foreign coach cos we would definitely overwhelm a local coach with our demands which we \are entitled to without any doubt. now, different opinions must be tolerated cos opinions are like ass everybody has his and beside all the bloggers who visit this site are true kogalo fans and reacts so because of their love for the team. as for ouna, i have alot of reservations but still wish him all the best, and for the records am extremely comfortable with him in his current position

I dont like this situation where an outgoing coach is selecting his succesor. I appreciate what Williamson has done so far, so if he is leaving then the EC has the responsibility of geting a suitable replacement. This is not the first time we are releasing a coach. EC please do your work!

Bloggers my preference has been ZICO, despite the fact we engineered and hounded him of office when he thought he was a demigod and AR prodigal son. That is now water under the bridge and I believe and have no doubt that he will ultimately land the job at the end of the season.
Where as Dan Original has been admiring OKUMBI, others want GHOST MULEE or PAMZO or LOGA. If OUNA has landed the job at the expense of the rest including JBO(hoping not on medical ground) then so be it. But as usual he has to prove himself beyond any reproach. As of now he has all my support and wish him all the best.

Otherwise OGANGO TRAILER will not entertain mediocrity and incompetence from the TB. Thanks OSWOZO for being a liberal and independent minded blogger in the year 2014, at
least we have some level minded person who can choose to read from both sides of the
coin. ODUOR 12, Jakoyo and myself have a different worldview of K’Ogalo as compared to other seasoned and respected bloggers and that what makes K.’Ogalo to be what it is. Our divergent views is what makes our EC, TB and Players to be on toes and perform.

@Ogango, I respect your choice but the three of you (Yourself, Jakoyo and Oduor 12) should still apply for this job. It will save us a lot of problems and criticism. We will surely support you (all the three) and your tactics as a coach. We will not overly criticise you because we will expect you to deliver and quit on your own if you don’t. We will not call a 1-0 win as slim. We will applaud your tiki taka total football. Ouna seems to be there temporarily so you still have enough time to present your credentials to the EC. This is the only way we will have a level minded coach with working tactics. Once this window closes and you fail to apply then we will expect you to fully support whoever will have been chosen. What do you think.

Secondly, let us allow the EC to make their own choice. Remember that forcing them to go a certain route will mean that we are taking their responsibility and should that route fail then we wont be allowed to run away from the failure.

  • @ Pmawego……….you have spoken and so is @Ogango, @Albert Kosero and at my beloved brother @Oswozo ! I will submit my interest and may the ‘lucky’ coach win the job.

But one thing we are forgetting…..Blogging is there to promote the spirit of ‘positive criticism for the good of the club’ . why are we negating the very essence of Kogallo which has brought has this far ?

we live in a world where everything you do is criticized especially if society has put you in a position like Kogallo.

If people cannot live with ‘criticism’ in any aspect of their lives/careers in today’s world then they would rather commit suicide and move on to another quieter, voiceless world !
