Gor Mahia youth team outclassed their rivals AFC Leopards in a KPL U20 quarterfinal match played on Sunday to qualify for semis
Gor Mahia under 20 team edged out AFC Leopards counterparts 2-1 in a quarterfinal match played on Sunday at Nyayo stadium to qualify for the tournament’s semifinal stage.
All the goals were scored in the first half with Gor Mahia getting the lead on the 3rd minute before confirming their victory three minutes to the half-time whistle.
Henry Oguk was the first to draw the first blood for Gor Mahia connecting a through ball into the net past keeper Brian Bwire to stir-up the game for K’Ogalo. In spite of more pressure piled thereafter in search of the second goal, AFC Leopards were keen on getting an equalizer and it took only 30 minutes for Valdo Madegwa to level matters. Eric Kinuthia was the man with the assist which Madegwa utilized to beat a defender before unleashing a rasping shot past Bixente Otieno.
The battle then continued. Both teams were now on a mission to get their respective winner in order to sail to the tourney’s semifinals. AFC Leopards pushed hard but unfortunately their efforts never bore any fruits at a time when Gor Mahia were launching attacks of all sorts in a bid to secure a goal. On the 42nd minute, Ismail Musa put the Maurice Onyango coached outfit in the lead. He simply tapped in a rebound past Bwire to give Gor Mahia an opportunity of hanging on their lead till the final whistle. They will now play against the winner between Chemlil Sugar and Ushuru FC in the semifinals.
CONGRATULATIONS YOUNG TURKS
WELL DONE BOYS. KEEP IT UP.
Congrats. The Youth team needs to impact directly on the senior team. We need more Nondis graduating to the KPL. Will save the club loads of money in transfer fees
Good going young lads, indeed you are the Future of our Great Club,All the Best upto the Finals…
We have a great youth team but EC led by AR and Ngala are letting this team down. Money was allocated by the sponsor of under 20 but this money has never reached the players. AR must pull up his socks or else he steps down. I think EC is the biggest problem at Gor Mahia currently and I think most of the EC members are seeing themselves being voted out of office come the AGM in November/December 2016.
375k released by KPL to all participating teams accounts by 12th of this month. Ngala confirmed receipt of the money by GMFC on Ko’galo Time radio show (Radio Ramogi) on 13/8/16.

Surely EC how about a couple of serious friendly matches during the break e.g Zoo Kericho in Kericho, Nakumatt or Homeboyz. Team needs to sharpnen up!
Meanwhile the Youth team has entered the final of the U19. Kudos juniors
