Nizigiyimana discusses the difficulty of retaining the title

Unlike last year when Gor Mahia had virtually won the league at the halfway mark, this season they are locked in an extremely tight with none of the top sides able to gain a measure of consistency. For Kogalo fans who are used to winning, the past few weeks have been particularly difficult.

Burundian left back Karim Nizigiyimana told the official KPL portal that even discussing the results is too difficult and uncomfortable.

“I don’t like to talk about our games anymore because it hurts. It is painful because we are not getting wins as much as we would like, or as much as we had been used to last year, and truly it is disappointing for everybody in the team.” he said to kpl.co.ke

Nizigyimana had a sensational season in 2016 where he was voted defender of the year and almost grabbed KPL player of the year. He was in superb form all season long, running tirelessly up and down the right flank sending in accurate cross after accurate cross until he ended up leading the league in assists. This season however he and others have been unable to replicate this form and the fan reaction has started to affect the players.

“It is even more painful because we have very supportive fans and seeing them disappointed every weekend feels bad,” said Nizigiyimana.

He asked for patience from fans given that the gap between Gor Mahia and Tusker is only four points with several matches to go.

“Gor Mahia has very competitive fans. They like to see the team win and they want to see that every day. Last year we gave them a lot of that so I would just like to ask them to continue believing in us because we plan to win this title for them. It will be hard but we will fight till the end. And we will win,” he concluded.

Indeed the team will need the 12th man to throw their support behind the team. And most of all the fans will need to behave themselves to avoid another three point deduction. But the players will need to do their part. A listless performance such as the one where the team went 60 minutes without a shot on goal is likely to elicit a negative fan reaction.

    1) At long last someone from the playing unit / TB showing some concern. Now sort yourselves out and get back to wining. My reading of Ze Maria’s comments on soka.co.ke do not seem as confrontational as those posted here/futaa.com. 2) Listening to Ko’galo Time on Ramogi Radio,by 2pm last Saturday GMFC’s EC had only released kshs.10k (mpesad by AR) of kshs.375k ALREADY given to it by KPL for the KPL U20 team. The U20 TM, a Mr.Willis, complained since they had a match on Sunday at 8am. Ngala was called but he was dismissive as above saying that those are not matters to be discussed on air. IS GMFC A COMMUNITY CLUB OR THE PERSONAL INITIATIVE / PROPERTY OF AR, NGALA & CO. IS MONEY RAISED COZ OF GMFC’S BRAND NAME THEIR PERSONAL FUNDS THAT THEY RELEASE WHEN / HOW THEY PLEASE. AT LEAST MPESA IS BETTER THAN AN ENVELOPE! IS THIS NOT SABOTAGE? A BLOATED EC THAT SABOTAGES THE SENIOR TEAM HEADCOACH & THE GROWTH OF ITS YOUTH TEAM, NKEST #RACHIEROUT

    • #Oduor this Ngala is a very controversial official. He appeared to be blaming the TB on mchaka mchaka program. He was saying that if the TB was claiming that travel arrangements to Sony were poor, then what did they do after being in Kisumu for 3 days. I also watched Ferrari giving contradicting views about the drunkard fitness trainer. I wonder where he acquired the name Onyango from.

LPGF= LET’S PUT GOR FIRST. If Ze Maria can win without Gatusso then by all means he can sideline him but so long as he continues to draw then the “Gatusso” factor will gain significance especially given that he scored when fielded. Jasego please convince Ze Maria as you’ve convinced us. Gatusso needs to be talked to change, is he suddenly behaving like this coz Aucho is gone? Has the “kudni” in his brain been incited by those with vested interest. Omera otek, but I recal AR boasting that unlike the “Politician”, “Genius” had proactively identified the players needed to take Gor to the next level! WE NEED AN OFFICE THAT CAN LAY SOLID FOUNDATION TO WIN LOCALLY BUT NOW MORE IMPORTANTLY REGIONALLY AND CONTINENTALLY.

  • Coach should do away with Gatusso coz he’s negative energy to the team and he should not hold the team hostage. Ze maria just field Wendo and Odipo as our defensive covers and use Walu and Kahata as our creative players and we will be good to go. Always ensure you field Agwanda 15 min to the end of second half and you will see results coming. Jst change our wing play abit to challenge our opponents. I still believe in Ze maria that he will deliver as much as his tactics at times are wanting. I stand with coach in his decision to fire Gatusso coz in football indiscipline is in tolerated. Honestly l think Gatusso time in Gor has gone and so awache kuturingia we can do without him coz Gor is bigger than him, odhi kucho.

  • Am of the contrary opinion on Gatusso. He is a bad influence yes but accomodating him till the end of the season will do us more benefit than harm. I know i am in the minority and i want to declare that I dont support Gatusso on his insubordination of the coach. The coach must instill discipline and Gatusso is no exception. I pray the club finds a way of reconciling the two just till the end of the season, he plays his part in helping us retain the title then we part ways with him. The Wendo- Kahata combo is not ticking and I remember talking about it when Aucho was leaving. If Gatusso cannot come back let us try another formation e.g Odula-Wendo or Baggio-Odula or Odula- Baggio with a creative minded mid(Kahata/Walu)playing ahead of them off the main striker. There is no harm in trying…..

What we need is calm, patience, a little give-and-take among the antagonists and all will be well. However, I am a worried man. Naima Oketch’s “no comment” response when Simba Super Soccer asked her if Ze Maria’s position as coach is secure, left me very worried. There seems to be a palace coup in the works. In the same Simba Super Soccer programme, one of the panelists actually ‘leaked’ that EC is contemplating recycling Bobby Williamson as Ze Maria’s replacement.

I am tired. I’d rather have Gor Mahia drawing all matches but playing clean football under Ze Maria, than have to endure those British type long ‘patia Sserunkuma” balls of BW. I think a section of the EC is very comfortable with the status quo, because it provides the perfect excuse to bring in BW and get a cut as kickback.

@Tosh…who is Odipo? The 2nd sentence of the last paragraph on this topic is very sensitive. Now that the team is not performing well,we need to be aware of external and internal forces that might want to wreck havoc so that we can be deducted points…thereby making it harder to catch up with Tusker.

The EC was supposed to have come up with a campaign to sensitize fans on the need to avoid chaos.Unfortunately that has not happened to date. You and i have the privilege to read this article..what about the majority of fans out there who cannot!?lets do the needful ASAP!!!!!

I think we should calm down, clean our house in December and start on a more cleaner slate. My only problem is that there could be vultures out there who will come in and make our situation worse. As it is we currently are thin in terms of alternative leadership. The worse thing is that for our fans, the more noise you can make and abuse the current office, the more suitable you are to hold the office. Unfortunately the people with good leadership credentials won’t wont to be dragged into the murky waters of Gor/AFC leadership

AR, Ngala and inept EC office have continued to fight the youth team because of Hooligan and other aspiring opponents that have continued to associate with the Youth team.

Youth team should be the project of the EC and should have also been included in the sponsorship package. It is now CAF requirement that all participating clubs in the CAF organised events must have youth feeder team.

AR is too busy with parochial politics and recovering the personal monies he had used in the club. Nganga and jack or Orowe have been AR watuha wa mokono in running the petty errands of the club.

This is the reason why this inept EC office should just pack and go before the end of their term in the office.

Gor have sponsors and yet money from gate collections that can be channelled to fund youth activities and other technical matters is being misappropriated by members of the same EC.

We can now see clearly why AR was unable to win Gem election because of his poor leadership skills. His divide and rule tactics made many elected officials to resign due to backstabbing of his team of elected EC.

Unless the menace in EC not dealt with during the forthcoming AGM and replace these officials, Gor will be heading nowhere.

I can confirm that Gor Mahia won the leagues back to back because of fans and summit that have always helped in logistics and technical matters. When the sponsors came in, the fans and summit handed over the support to EC and EC have failed terribly. There were many things covered by this committed group of fans but the office have never recognised their efforts.

The youth team should be EC project but this same EC have absconded and fans have been chipping in with donations.

What is really the role of EC with now many sponsors? EC have failed in their duties and this is why the main team is suffering.

This division at the EC has been extended to the technical bench and this is why I have been calling for sacking of jolawi and Ogweno because of self interest competition that have brought down the team performance. I blame the coach Ze Maria for having allowed this to continue. There is infighting in the technical bench and this is what has affected the performance of the team. Always in Gor Mahia if there is internal fighting and indifference, it goes down to affect the team performance and this is what we have been seeing not that we can’t win the league but because of this infighting internally. It is fighting for the club resources by these two technical bench members and gluttonous of AR, Nganga, Orowe et all.

The solution for turnaround performance are:-
    1. Bring back on board the support of fans and summit.
    2. Fire the two members of technical bench
    3. AR and EC team to reduce overeating and bring on board some old technical football advisors to help the club regain the old form.
    4. Ze Maria should be decisive in dealing and handling of technical bench matters.
    5. EC should take the ownership of youth team and get a sponsor for the youth.
    6. Accountabilty and transparency is required on all the funds, donations, monies and sponsor support
that the club has continued to receive.

Disclaimer, I have got nothing personal against bloggers, fans, EC, Jolawi and Ogweno but all that we want is positive results. Let us all stand up to fight the vice, infighting, corruption, poor performance etc at the club.

    • Surely I also sympathize with the youth team. There is a total lack of accountability in Gor management issues. It is their time to eat, but they ought to carry out their mandate diligently. From the argument i watched on Simber Soccer, it seems that it is the ze mari a imports who have despised the likes of Ogweno. The argument was that they don’t consult the older guys. You know kina Ogweno have been here longer than them. And I still feel that it was wrong for Rachier to import all these good for nothing people like Fontino. What value has the drunkard added to the team.

      I meant Ngala not Nganga.

Ngala is a puppet of AR and is clueless on the roles and responsibilities of Secretary General.

In this modern world of football, do we really need politically elected EC with the office bearers like Ngala, Orowe etc that do not know their mandates and tasks?

I can remember very well that in the last and previous Gor Mahia AGMs, members present at the meeting gave AR & EC team mandate to transform the club in line with the Sports Act but to date there are no signs and plans to effect the same.

What is really too difficult in turning the club into a limited liabilitiy company with more focus on profitable business activities? Gor Mahia has an enviable brand name but officials are too short sighted in opening the club to do more business and generate more monies for the club and stakeholders. We all fans must stand up to be counted in helping this great club and people who want to be small gods in Gor Mahia should just be shown the door that this is not the right place for them.

I have failed to understand why a big club like Gor Mahia does not have a stadia, club house, official furnished office, merchandise outlets, training ground, eating place, etc. it is time now to turn this club into a commercial enterprise run like any other publicly listed companies.

The reasons why AR and his entire EC want the club to be run on an election and adhoc basis is perpetuate stealing, opaqueness in operations, corruption, lack of structures, unofficial sale of club merchandisers without following the right procedures.

The other major reason is self and selfish glory with no meaningful change at all in the club. We know very well that glory belongs to the Almighty God but not individuals. Let us think of getting rid of this fear that if so and so is not there then the club can not operate.

At the moment, Gor Mahia football club is being run like a village social welfare group without clear mandate for the way forward for any meaningful investment activities.

NO, NO, NO this chaos and disorder is a deliberate misadministration ploys by AR led bloated EC to maintain their strangle hold on GMFC. AR & CO are seasoned football administrators, not greenhorns. EC don’t “measure our heads” with non issues like mara racists, mara drunkards, mara players vs headcoach, mara Luo TB vs Brazilians, mara players reporting late for training, mara youth run by foundation, mara money has been released today, mara fans “recruited” Luanda Magere, mara unfit brazilians being “given a chance” mara this, mara that. All these people have written contracts and universally its a no brainer how you deal with insurbordination, drunkardness, racism, absentism etc etc. BUT NO RACHIER DOES NOT WANT STRUCTURES OR POLICIES. QUESTION IS WHY? IS IT TO PERPETUATE ORGANISED CHAOS! WE’VE GIVEN RACHIER ENOUGH TIME TO COME UP WITH STRUCTURES AND POLICIES, IT SEEMS TO BE A CASE CAN’T LEARN WON’T LEARN. WE CAN’T AFFORD TO WASTE AN SPONSORSHIP YEAR.
