Kerr proud of players despite exit
Coach Dylan Kerr says he is very proud of his players performance and he says the best is yet to come.
“I am proud of how my players and the technical bench have tried. I am sorry we didn’t reach the quarters but I have always said that we were a year early but the experience was valuable.” he said to goal.com
According to Kerr, the performance was good considering all that they have endured.
“All in all and despite what we endured off the field, the players gave everything and pushed for more. There are some positives to pick from this squad and the far they reached in the competition is a true testament of how good they are.” he said.
Kerr asserted that the Algerians applied the typical North African tactics of frustrating the visiting team before the game.
We did not have enough time to feel the pitch and our travel here was a major factor and not an excuse.
“What I had planned for Monday practice, I only had 15 minutes late Tuesday to apply it but when we arrived at the stadium the lights were not fully on, plus we were told the time of kick-off had changed.” he said
Rejected offers
Given Gor Mahia’s excellent performance, Kerr has been receiving offers from other teams but he has rejected them.
“Look, I have had three offers in the last two months that were financially good for me to leave Gor Mahia but I rejected them. I respect contracts and I have never gone against any contract,” Kerr told Goal .
Kerr also said he wanted to stay as long as Chairman Rachier wants to keep him.
“Football is strange but I like Kenya and the people, I am here to stay until the chairperson decides he doesn’t want me.” he concluded

BREAKING: Kaizer Chiefs complete signing of Godfrey Walusimbi from Gor Mahia

The well-travelled defender has secured his dream move to Chiefs following a successful season with Gor Mahia
Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of Godfrey Walusimbi from Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia.
The Uganda international has penned a three-year deal which will end on 30 June 2021 according to Amakhosi’s official website.
Walusimbi, who is a 29-year-old left-back, is pleased to have joined the Soweto giants from K’Ogalo during the current PSL transfer window.
“I’ve always known that Kaizer Chiefs is a great football club. Chiefs play for honours and that’s a positive mindset that every player dreams of,” Walusimbi told the website.
The former Vipers SC player was one of the key players as Gor Mahia clinched the 2017 KPL title and also helped the club reach the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup group stage.
“Just like every footballer, I always want to move one step further in my career and I think my move to Chiefs is one such step,” he continued.
Walusimbi, who has played for several clubs including Sports Club Villa in Uganda and CS Don Bosco of DR Congo, underwent successful trials at Amakhosi.
“I have already adapted at Chiefs. It is easier to adapt in a professional environment. I look forward to working hard and contribute to the team,” he said.
Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr recently indicated that Amakhosi would have to pay around R4,4 million for the experienced full-back’s services.
Chiefs’ football manager Bobby Motaung welcomed Walusimbi to the Naturena-based giants following successful negotiations with Gor Mahia management.
“It has been an engaging process to finalise this move,. At the end we are happy the process has been completed, and the player is available to play. We wish him all of the best with us,” he said.
Walusimbi will don jersey number 29 at Amakhosi and he is expected to compete with fellow full-backs Philani Zulu and Siphokazi Ntiya-Ntiya.
The SC Villa player follows on the footsteps of Ugandan left-back David Obua, who joined Amakhosi from Express FC in 2005.
Obua established himself as a key player for the Soweto giants during his three-year spell with the four-time PSL title winners.

I want to put it very clearly that we’ve a good goalkeeper in Frederic Odhiambo and I also believe that the national team coach will consider giving him a call to the national team to compete for the number one slot. Currently people may think that Shikalo is the best due more clean sheets but remember that Fred was not the first choice keeper for him to give us more clean sheets. He knows how to arrange his wall during free kicks than all goalkeepers I have watched. I don’t believe that there is any other quality goalkeeper that we can sign within our borders who is better than Fred.
We will still be begging . as Moses Kuria puts it awkwardly. Even with highly educated people like AR we cannot conclude business deals to the benefit of the club. Walusimbi saga ought to have given Gor A lot of money. How much did Gor/AFC match raise?. It is better to elect fools and the uneducated to eat from the club than to have educated people raping the club dead. No wonder club is stagnant.

Between 1995-2013, Gor Mahia never won the Kenyan Premier League. That is 18 years. As fans, we have a right to point out weaknesses in the team, but all in all, the players, technical bench and executive committee have done well. Congratulations to the entire Gor Mahia team.

1. a club house.
2. a club’s own training ground,
3. a stable investment.
4. other collateral income-generating projects.
Gor Mahia should not be operating on a shoe-string budget and living from hand to mouth. With that rich history, Gor Mahia should not be walking around with a begging bowl; we should not be selling good players so desperately neither should we be experiencing air travelling hitches and last minute setbacks. With good administrative organization and prudent management of finances, Gor Mahia should be taking chartered flights whenever we have to fly out. Let us achieve these and everyone will not mind even if we start sitting on our laurels.

Corruption entertains corruption. Classified!!! How do you just wake up and decide that a transanction that has happened in a public club is classified. So will the chief scandalist at NYS(lighter duties) also decide that what happened is classified info. Just because you are a beneficiary you cannot decide for us that the issue is now classified. Let the club members and fans in general make that decision.
Let us be the ones to decide how player tapping turned into “one of the cleanest deals”.
Long story short the EC does not want to account to the money given for Walusimbi “sale”.
When Gor brings in a foreign coach, winning the local league should not be one of his deliverables, winning the league can be done by a local coach. Posted in this page is a list of clubs that have won the league these were basically achieved by local coaches.
Foreign coaches should be given only one deliverable and this is a continental title. The league title simply becomes a by-product of his deliverables. So for Kerr to count that one of his achievements is winning the kpl would be an underachievement. Zico can win local league for us.
Although critical of his Algiers performance, I also acknowledge that this was his first attempt. But his away record now leaves me worried. I do not consider Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda et TZ as away coz of their peculiar similarities.
But of most importance to this club is how the club handles it’s affairs. The club urgently needs transparency. Kerr can only do so much but without support(integrity) then I would be the first one to advice him to take up those lucrative contracts he speaks about. When the EC eats from it’s own coffers and expect the coach to deliver then Gor will be going nowhere. The EC is corrupt and will make up stories thru’ their agents to satisfy themselves. The club went to Algiers on very stringent financial conditions.
But all this happened coz of an EC that refuses to account for club money… and this is why we hear of such romantic terms like Classified.
We seem to be very bitter losers. Is it because we lost a QF CAFCC slot the reason we are spewing venom on this wall? I believe 8 other teams also fell on the wayside. What we need to do first is to give praises to the Almighty for having graced the group stages. We still have a lot of football ahead of us before the year end. We should also note that the CAF competitions will start in Dec just as our league. Note that at this time the other leagues will be almost at half way stage.
So instead of lamenting how so and so didn’t do what, we should be strategizing, identifying the players we want, putting our financial status and plans in place/order.
No amount of criticism will put us in the QF of the CAFCC. Whoever didn’t enjoy it while it lasted too bad for them. We still have a double to fight for to make it one of our best seasons in a long time
Those doubles you talk of are local dishes we devour everyday. Kila siku. That is why we count it absurd that we lost all international trophies. CECAFA gone now CAF gone. We are left with ” ageing” to chew. That is our concern . And we lost because of stupid mistakes that were avoidable. We did not loose to better teams. We lost to very avoidable stupid mistakes we talk of daily every year. First Lagers issue was avoidable. We lost a striker when needed most because someone slept on job. Walusimbi is now too much to mention. Aduda and the rest of the gang have tried. I agree. However very poorly. They get a poor D if I was to grade him. And a B in corruption and impunity
I think we have a right to do a post tournament analysis and ventilate on issues we think didn’t go right.

Football is a business! I think, one way or the other, it is hard to keep a good player and more especially, if the buyer is willing to put the money on the table. Let’s wish walusimbi good luck in his new club, because of all the good work he did for us during the more than four years he has been working with Gor Mahia and hope that the money we got from his sale is put to good use!

Once EC decided on the 20/80 per relationship do you think the players were that motivated to put their bodies on the line, so that bloated would be the major beneficiaries of their sweat and blood.
If we made it to the quarters players would get 20% of the 8M i.e a mere kes.1.6M to share while EC pockets kes.6.4M. Kagere and Walusimbi did their maths and opted out and you can’t blame them or any other player.
Also note that Mugabe is never interested in CAF tournaments since the prize monies must be paid into the club account where KRA is also waiting for it, For him it is better business dealing with gate collections and transfer fees which can be kept confidential so even next year EC will continue to be the biggest stumbling block in GM’s quest for continental glory especially as long as that 20-80 nonsense is maintained.

Kogalo family……criticism is welcome. It is only through fans speaking their minds freely that weak areas can be identified and improved on. The departure of Medie Kagere and Walusimbi negatively affected the team. We cant deny that. I wish FIFA could change rules so that all players transfer takes place once in a year at the end of the season. Transfers when major tournaments are ongoing affects teams negatively.

The same team played Supersport, Yanga, Esperance, Rayon and USM and we were happy with the results till the last two games. That is football, you win some you lose some. On the Goodison park trip I wish you knew how much the players are looking forward to it. You don’t go to Europe and play at the top stadum everyday. Let the boys go and enjoy, they deserve it. From where some of these boys come from this is a trip of a lifetime. By the way which team in the region did you want to go? Rayon, Simba, Yanga, Azam , KCCA or even ingwe?

1. Hot/high temperaturers in Algeria
2. Sleeping at the Airport lounge in Morocco
3. Congested KPL fixtures for the team
4.Financial challenges within the team
5.Departure of Kagere and Walusimbi
6. Failure to train in Algeria due to last minute arrival (the team trained for only 15 minutes)
7.etc etc
NB: In January, 8 months ago how many of us were optimistic Gor Mahia would have reached where the team reached?May be less than 10%.

Kerr Comments on Walusimbi Transfer
Asked about the transfer when it was made official, the Briton coach exclusively told Goal, “It was a selfish, greedy and unprofessional move that is deceitful to football.
“It is a disrespectful way he left, it is a joke that only in Africa, players can do as they want and where does that leave the integrity of football?”

For those always doubting what i point out. Well Kerr has now said it too Blackberry without walusimbi simply cannot thrive in the kogalo set up. We have to get a like for like player and Shaffiq Batambuze is a perfect replacement for Walusimbi

I pointed out a very longtime ago to the defiencies of one Ernest Wendo of mistiming and improper Kor Guok tackles that just earn fouls galore and yellow cards that end up straining the defence but i was countered that he is second to only Victor Wanyama. How and where does a DMF not control any ball for 90 mins or aid in even 1 transition move going forward? Do people watch Ngolo Kante of Chelsea or Nzonzi of Valencia or Marco Veratti? These are the kind of defensive midfielders we require for GM to conquer Africa next year….

@jasego, Wendo started raw, matured and was one of the best CDMs around for about a season and half then something has gone horribly wrong with his game and I cant put a finger to it. He is not doing justice to a position that has boasted maestros like Akumu, Baba Kizito and Khalid Awiso Aucho. We have the underutilized Mbish who i think may just be the fix we need plus our own Teddy Osok and Alpha Onyango. Thay can be slowly be bedded in just like Ingwe have done with the equally inexperienced Marvin Omondi who seems to have a good career ahead of him barring a calamity. Dunco of Ingwe is also another ready made option as already suggested by BB. But until we fix that position we will still dominate locally but our beautiful game will be sorely missing since it is that fulcrum from which we always bulid our game .
Following the recent string of losses by Efusi, a hurricane has started building up in the Den and it is a matter of time before the world witnesses their usual fallout. For that matter J’Asego I am still appealing to you to get for us the following players from there:
1. Duncan Otieno (DMF)

To answer you regarding our DMF, please let me copy paste a section of Dinga’s comment in the preceding article: “Wendo is a serious cost to any defence. Once he gets his normal yellow card, he henceforth has to play on tiptoe which is a serious leakage of power to the whole team”.
Clearly, there is a problem here. If we fans who “never played and therefore know nothing about football” now describe being carded as his normal routine, then honestly he could and should do better. Being cautioned at the rate of a yellow card in each game is good enough reason for one to change his game. He could still improve and become one fine player that we are missing, if only he could stop glorifying those reckless tackles and work on his speed and ball control.

We have bloggers that have smoked weed and they have a negative attitude against everything about football “with know it all attitude”. There are some bloggers that abuse the EC members whilst they can’t even be elected as village headman. Why do some brainless bloggers call Ambrose Rachier Mugabe really? This is really the lowest point we have gone as bloggers? Shame on such bloggers hurling insults instead of posting ideas that can hel the team to move forward.
Ambrose Rachier has done well and instead of appreciating him, we are giving him name tags. Gor Mahia was on the verge of relegation before Ambrose Rachier came and rescued Gor Mahia when all odds were against the team. Where were these brainless bloggers that seem to know everything about football?
For the almighty God to continue blessing our team to win more matches and trophies, we are busy not thanking God for all the victories and champion trophies we have won. Let us always learn the powers and secrets in thanksgiving. No matter the weakness at the EC, let us learn to appreciate them too and thank God for having given us victories upon victories.
Since Ambrose Rachier was elected as the chairman, Gor Mahia has won KPL champion trophies several times as well as GoTV shields. In all the postings, I have not seeing any thanksgivings to the Almighty God and even appreciating Rachier and his team for the role hey have played in getting good players, hiring quality coaches, paying players even from his pockets etc.
Let us stop this nonsense of abusing EC, name tagging Chairman and hurling all sorts of abuses to the office bearers but instead let us point out on areas that should be improved and suggest corrective measures which the same office can pick some suggestions for good of the club or ignore them all together. It is our wish for the team to continue winning trophies and we might also be beaten too by our opponents as other teams are also prepared fighting for the same trophies.
I know and appreciate that football sometimes can become too emotional but let us not lose our heads and cause unnecessary damage to the team. We are all stakeholders in Gor Mahia. Finally brethrens, I am appealing to the technical bench and office to bring some fresh players and at the same time to give our young players to be integrated into the first eleven team. We need to bolster the goalkeeping that has sometimes let us down by bring in board Sony goalkeeper, two defenders, one defensive midfielder, one offensive midfielder and two lethal strikers. We can also loan out some of our players that we do not require to gain more exposures.
If Muguna is back, then we only need one defensive midfielder. Karim is back and he is like a new player.
We need to evaluate all the weak areas in the playing unit and address them accordingly before the new season kicks out. We have to go for CAF Champion group qualifications this time round.

Jakoyo why do you think Kerr has lost vision for the team? Just coz of CAF elimination and shield Cup loss? Teams lose and win some, all over the world and all the time. Why do we believe at Kogalo we shouldn’t lose even once? To me what’s important now is proper focus on the next CAF competition since we have qualified. The team in my opinion did very well this season considering the circumstances and the unexpected loss of some key players midstream.
