Let the 12th man make his presence felt

Now that all the negativity and infighting has been removed and the players appear refreshed, it is time for Gor Mahia to face its destiny on Saturday as they play Ferroviario de Maputo in the return leg. Not in a million years did even the most skeptical fan think that the club would find itself in this situation. Mistakes were made, there was poor planning and the technical bench was in dissarray. Whereas it is too late to change the past, the club still has its destiny in its hands.

None of us really know whether the technical issues have been resolved. It does not help that the new technical bench has had only two days to prepare the team. Still it is not time to loose hope.  It was 1988 when Gor Mahia faced LPRC Oilers of Liberia. A troubled Gor Mahia had just parted ways with coach Jack Johnson. They played poor, disjointed in the 1st leg at Nyayo stadium and we lucky to escape with a 0-0 draw. As the Liberians celebrated after the game, dissilusioned fans left and wrote off the team. However Stand in coach Mohammed Kheri was seconded to assist the team in the return leg and somehow Kogalo picked themselves up to win the second leg 3-1 in Monrovia.

The moral of that story is that Anything is possible in football. As new coach Bobby Ogolla has said today, the spirit of Kogalo is indomitable. Therefore the 12th man must show up in large numbers to cheer the team. Let us get behind the team from kickoff to final whistle.  Fans have a tendency to loose patience with the team. Saturday is not the day to loose patience. The team has only had 3 days under the new coach. Even if no goals have been scored in the 1st half, fans must continue to cheer. Yes it is possible to score 3 goals in the second half.

Let us cheer throughout and turn the stadium into a hellhole for the visitors. So this supporter urges the rest of the 12th man to show up in large numbers on Saturday to carry the team. Let us make home ground advantage count.

I also join my comrades to urge the green army to invade the Nyayo national stadium to support our boys as they taken Ferroviaro de Maputo.

From the lakeside City of Kisumu to small island of Fasa in Mombasa, this is our clarion call. Please catch the next flight or ride to Nairobi. The Mozambicans are in town and we want to show them what kind of metal we are made of . Ofcourse you are pure gold if I may use an allegory of metals as told by one Greek philosopher, Plato.

By the way are you aware this local football craze has been brought by K’Ogalo and AFC Leopards? We are now faced with one more chance to redeem our image in the continental football. We can surpass what Sofapaka did last time. We can also sink and forever remain a Stastistic.

A story is always told of a young boy who wanted to test the wisdom of his granny. He was holding a little bird in his hand. If she said the thing in my hand is alive, he will crash the bird to death and if she said it’s dead, he will let the bird free. The boy asked the granny; is the thing in my hand dead or alive? She responded ; “it is as you wish my son’.
The moral of the story. Our destiny is in our hands. Let’s meet at the stadium kesho.

let us hope for the best. We should always rally behind the team whatever the outcome. Patience pays and we must learn to be patient. It might take some time for the team to develop a winning mentality but we must understand all these. Go Kogalo,go.

  • I think its a good thing that we lost by three goals in maputo. Why?,because had we managed to get a good result in maputo say a win or even a draw, complacency would have set in tomorrow and we would not progress. But we are going to progress tommorrow for the simple reason that we lost the first leg 3-0.There will be no room for complacency, and the players will play like spirits, the fans will urge their team like never seen before!
One of the greatest comebacks in african football will be witnessed tommorrow at nyayo.ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK! ATTACK!

YES WE CAN,YES WE CAN,YES WE WILL!

  • Wishing Mighty K’galo’s spirit to perform the MIRACLE and take us to the next round.
    My only other comments are
1.that our ex-legends should be TMs not coaches, for head coach lazima tuvuke border (preferably Europe / North Africa)
2.Kudos to the EC on one point, you did not wait for the whole season b4(as was the case in 2010) sacking a non-performing bench.Asante for dropping this sofaset policy. Any coach worth his salt should start producing results in 3months or at least after the next transfer window where he has an opportunity to get players of his choice.
3.Next on EC’s list should be players performamce review starting with Gatusso.Let’s see if ataleta kimbelembele with the likes of John ‘Bobby’ Ogolla aka Six million Dollar Man, Winner of several CECAFA Senior and Club championships
4.To our captain its not for you to keeping appealing for the obvious, that fans turn out in large numbers.Rather its for you and the team to make the tremendous support of the 12th man count.Let it motivate u guys to the next level.
I pray for the impossible to be possible and we qualify for the next round for its to early for Gor Mahia to be eliminated. AMEN

Guys we have a game tomorrow, lets get to the Stadium to urge the boys on.

Please do not come to the stadium to boo our players.

We are not even spectators no, we are supporters.
We are also not coaches to signal substitutions no we are drumming support to keep the boys going.

Lets play our part, our part only let the tech bench also play their part.. let me hope the EC has taken the team to camp this time.

We will win lets do it , we can do it!

Half an hour to go. It looks as if our boys are matched in the mid. Our striking force looks a bit blunt and disjointed. The 12th man is very well behind the team but its not just working at the moment. When will our players know how to take set pieces including penalties?

    Reply
  • Eblazing

A quarter an hour to go. Cant see the boys getting back into this game. No clear cut chances. Boys just missed a full chance.

  • Eblazing

Kip and Moses playing better but not getting thru. The miss of the penalty did a lot of damage in confidence. Still 0 – 1 aggr 0 – 4. Not a good sight on scoreboard. We will fight another day.
