Reports: Coach Nuttall leaves for Zamalek

Gor Mahia coach Frank Nuttall has finally been hounded out of his job. Nuttall has headed to Egypt where he will be an assistant coach at continental giants Zamalek.

“Nuttall left immediately after the derby and as we speak he has arrived safely in Cairo. He will be unveiled on Tuesday but his first assignment will be this weekend when Zamalek takes on Union Douala in a Caf Champions League fixture,” says blogger / agent Francis Gaitho

Nuttall has been under pressure to slice his monthly salary in half.  Matters came to a head when he was detained by the management of Serena hotel due to unpaid bills. Other reports suggested that he was not even on speaking terms with club management and perhaps with certain players. Such a situation is untenable. Nuttall reached out to current Zamalek coach Alex MacLeish with whom he has worked before.

Ronald Ngala confirmed that Nuttall is indeed in Egypt but said he has not officially resigned.

“Yes, it is true that we have been informed that Nuttall has left for Egypt to sign a contract with a top team but we are yet to receive an official communication from him on the same.” said Ngala to goal.com

With Nuttall gone, Frank Ouna will likely take over on an interim basis.

  1. He had lost control of the dressing room and was not talking to management plus results on the pitch had all but disappeared so it was inevitable. The next coach Must be more tactical and proactive in early substitutions that changes the game and formation to adapt to on-pitch scenarios…

  2. If he has gone, that is the most honorable thing he can do becoz of late he has fail to control the club, club will remain forever but players and coaches will come and go.

  3. Thank you for the good job done. The history will remain forever.
It was hard to work under such environment.
Wish you all the best.God bless you. God bless K’ogalo.

  4. Okay, where is the Spaniard coach whose greatest quality is his low salary.Let us also wait for 1st June for our world class players

  5. It was there for all to see..Now EC is now happy because they have achieved one of their goal. No one should blame FN for jumping ship after working environment has been polluted by his employers….It also show how short sightedness this office, my only pray is for this office to be sent packing before they gallop a small pint of blood that is left in the club.

  6. The truth is that Nuttal had lost the zeal to coach Gor and as said the results had dried out. Maybe his luck had run out or his tactics had been mastered by the opponents. It’s normal in coaching just like in striking. Even Mourinho underwent the same so let us not be surprised. Didn’t we see it with Loga or we are that shortsighted.
Maybe now we would have a coach who has no beef with EC or players.
To me it was good having Nuttal but we now have no choice but to move on. A usual I’m optimistic though not happy with the ways of working of our EC. It needs to be professionalized and not bringing in some opportunists just because now we have a sponsor and there is money. To me solid structures are more important than the holder of the office as the Chair/Prezda of the club will be a servant of the club/members. Only members (not fans) have the mandate to make the desired changes so let’s go for it. The issue of so-and-so must go without thinking of what next is driven more by emotion than logic

  7. The EC basically subotaged the coach.
    1. It seems the coach had lost control of some of the players.
    2. As much as I had no problem with Abondo leaving, I’m sure the coach wanted him to stay but the EC facilated his quitting by releasing him off his contract… pulling the plug on the coach.
Obviously Nuttal was not going to stay, given that he himself had pulled a fast one on the EC.
But I will lay the blame on the EC on getting personal with the coach. Most of these coaching coming to Africa are what you call journeymen, they are usually here to market themselves for bigger fish. Unfortunately the EC wanted to claim all the credit forgetting that it’s the coach who made it happen. Now the EC is a hard place. Long story short is that EC lucks professionals and seems to be a body simply filled with “me toos”. Your now approaching another foreign coach from a disadvantage position, he will obviously get the CREAM on this new contract. Should Gor lose the nxt match, then it’s all over for this office.

  8. Aha ! , the writing was on the wall, the week of Kichapo claims its first victim as widely predicted. I expect more TB staff to resign, we will NOT accept mediocre performance and relegation dogfights for the rest of the season.

History is littered with clubs that won the league one season and were relegated the next season. Not Kogallo ! Never !

Best of wishes Nutall, your record goes down in club’s history but truth be told you never won any derby on the pitch.

  9. i respected Rachier but now i have to lose it if this is the way he can manage things around . i think delegates were right in chosing mwendwa and not him. how can he treat a coach who brought life in Gor like this let us lose the next much then you fac it with your nose. Now we have a clueless assistant coach Frank ouna i wish Bobby Ogolla was around eeeeeeeeh my God

  10. It would be worth considering Logarusic….he knows the country, knows the club very well and it’s financial position and already familiar with the Kenyan and Gor culture. He is also more tactical. Let’s give it a thought.

    1. Loga is trouble itself. He is not patient and did I hear you say more tactical than FN? You must have Missed entire two seasons my friend.

  11. Rather unfortunate….this coach has left a track record that will be hard to emulate.I can only wish him the best of luck in his next job.
We must endevour to build on the good work he did in the last 2 seasons…it was exemplary!!

  12. We fans are being fooled here. We are not being told the full story, FN stood by Gor during the lean moments. Why leave now?

  13. Right now we can call everybody names but the moment we win our next two matches everybody will be in support of everything Gor. That’s the nature of the Gor fan.
Omino said coaches come and go and so it has happened.
What most of our fans don’t understand is that most of these foreign players and coaches don’t come here to stay but to market themselves. Supersport makes it easier for them since they can easily get clips to market themselves. Ony retirees like Koops will stay here despite the offers from outside the country

  14. Good luck Proff. Frank Nuttall, Only fools won’t appreciate w@t you’ve done at GOR. Amrouche nyale, mambo za WIlliamson ndio mi HAPAN TAKA KUSKIA

  15. If it is indeed true that Nuttal was not in talking terms with some EC members and was in an uneasy relationship with some players, then it was in the best interest of himself and the club that he left. Let us wait and see what the new coach, if at all there is one in he pipeline, has to offer. Good luck Nattal. I think he achieved a lot with Kogalo during his short stint at the club

  16. For is being managed like a food kiosk , professionalism , discipline of players and EC thrown off the window , if not checked , Gor is diminishing hypothetically.
For Neutral , come again one day for a better season .Quote ” You will never know the importance of something till you lose it”. We have lost a good coach , let’s wait for repercussions.

  17. Thank God the politician has gone.let’s now shop for a very good coach.not Williamson.Nattull dig his grave by his activities in the dressing room.given fan support,he exercised utter impunity.punching players disrespecting fellow TB and even EC.so everyone rebelled against him.so he was bound to fail.fans moulded his big head by overprotectinghim from his bosses.GM had two options 1).change the coach.
2)change the whole play unit and EC and be left with the coach.obviously the coach’s head was to roll.so his was a timely decision.

  18. I agree that, with FN records were made. But i do not agree that these records were solely his effort. Bulk of his success depend on silent support by Frank ouna, Bobby, physical fitness trainer, goal keeper trainer and Ec.
While he was away Bobby and FO prepare a team with local players without Olunga and Kagere and won two cups away. The moment he(FN) start taking credit for himself and behaving like a super star with high demands- Bobby withdrew and FO reduce his support. Results can be seen. Fighting with players( bonny),benching a player cos one Blander(Nzigimana) playing derby with strikers on the bench.
Very clever before you notice his weakness runs he run a way with bobby, Ouna and GK TRAINERS success. Kindly have faith, they brought in FN and will bring in another coach.

  19. Spot on! political intrigues of a true politician with attitude problems….this guy just walked out of Kogallo without saying goodbye to the fans, amazing !

This guy when he was fired he rushed to the press for fans to protect him , now that he has gotten a job with Zamalek , why didn’t he rush to the press to say goodbye to fans ?

    1. Its indeed sad to see how some fans talk here. What gor fans should know is That God knows how to balance things today its Afc léopard yesterday it was gor. Whether gor fans shout from top of their voices. 2016 is year of AFc léopard. Maybe gor Will finish no 13 in the League table in 2016

      1. @blackmarket, and maybe they will defend their title again. As it is nobody knows who will win the league. We only need a bit of luck and hard work an we will be there

  20. Ooh Laa la..” FN ASANTE SANA NA KWAHERI”

FN departure was inevitable as far as am concerned. This was a timely “DIVORCE” that was imminent whether by design or default. And i repeat here again that when the downstream performance trend are questionable in whatever sector of business it starts up with the respective manager in charge and not the workers.
In this case FN knew that his turn to face the wrath of fans was closing in after exhausting all his flimsy excuses; while the EC,TB colleagues and players were not ready to stand by his side.
Now the EC and the playing can sit down and address all the issue’s at stake before even seeking to hire a new coach. With FN out definitely our players will be out to prove something that fans did not know about FN. And Gor can now rise minus FN.

  21. We need to give thanks and respect to where it is due and honestly Frank Nuttal achieved a big objective that has eluded many coaches and only achieved in mid 1970. The known EC and AR sycophants are ranting and saying all sorts of gossips that can’t go unchallenged and these tantrums are not going to help the club.

The naked truth is that AR and EC ganged up and frustrated Frank Nuttal starting with the coach sacking and there is no coach in the world that can work under this cruel and harsh environment. It was only right for the coach to leave the club than working in this harsh environment, where players have been asked to rebelled against the coach. How do you incite players against the coach? The same medicine shall be used against whom they will appoint.

The enemy or political turncoat has gone but the fact remains that we are demanding for victories and anything less than the victory, AR and the entire office should expect the full force of the fans. We are not going to entertain any mediocre performance from the office, players and technical bench members.

We have many stomach fans that are being bankrolled by this same AR and their postings on this site leaves a lot to be desired.

It is my prayers that EC led by AR should be shown the door. The guy has never won any election and no wonder he was defeated by young Mwendwa.

  22. The only coach who Can cut players ego is adel amrouche

The players are betting left right centre in sportspesa imagine a Game like Afc leopards was given odds 4.76 while gor 1.63 odds. Since afc keopards won n it was end month suppose gor Player betted with ksh 20000 for Afc to win, the same gor Player made ksh 95200. M’y plea is to sportspesa to reduce odds for gor games i.e should be. 0.96. 1.22. 1.33 for home win draw or away win

  25. As we bash and support the EC, TB and players do we know that in Dec last year Nuttal approached/was approached by Tusker but the deal fell because he was demanding 1m as salary?
So guys the earlier we know it the better. Most coaches/players are coming to Gor to improve their CV for future well-being. So let’s know that when we raise the ego of some of these people they will leave us with egg on our faces.
When we say that Nuttal is the best we can/have had I think we are wrong. We have reached the Africa competitions twice in our history. Lost one and won the other. I believe the technical/playing unit of those days were much better.
On a personal note I would prefer the Spanish (or any European Coach) as opposed to a Brazilian. The type of games we play in Africa are close to European than Latino. In the former Eastern European countries we have some of the best and less costly trainers. But that is only my opinion

  26. Meanwhile, when we say that the EC is useless, rotten and unprofessional some fellows are busy defending them, including the clueless Patron. Gor Mahia will only be failed by the EC. Everybody can be changed, chased and fired but with the current crop of fellows in the EC, not even Mourhinho can succeed here.
