Paul Kiongera came back to haunt Gor Mahia as his brace inspired Simba SC to a 3-0 win over the reigning Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions in a friendly match played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The former KCB man introduced just after the halftime break, scored twice to sandwich Ramadhan Singano’s strike as Simba ran out 3-0 winners in coach Frank Nuttal first outing with the side.

It was the home side that started on a high note with forwards Emmanuel Okwi and Ramadhan Singano combining well upfront. Things however quickly settled down to business with Singano forcing Jerim to a frantic save from an awarded free kick in the 20th minute.

Changes

His opposite number Ivo Mapunda remained largely untested on the other end for the better part as Simba  proved the most offensive in the first half.

Gor had a good chance go begging as Danny Sserenkuma lost his strides in front of goal after being set through with a well taken cross from the right wing.

Simba made an early second half change introducing new acquisition, Paul Kiongera for Maguli. The change proved an instant hit as Kiongera headed home from Emmanule Okwi 55th minute cross for Simba’s opener against the club he once appeared for on loan.

Doubled lead

Gor Mahia came close again as Sserunkuma’s  effort come off the post, with Jerim being called to another brilliant save to deny Simba a second goal on the opposite end.

Ramandhan Singano doubled the host leads after tapping in from close range, before Kiongera converted in from Uhuru Selemani’s cross to seal the win.

The former KCB man was at the centre of it again providing a good pass to Shaban Kisiga who failed to beat Jerim at goal the match later ending with the host taking home the convincing win.

Burn out was evidenced from 60th minute, physical fitness still an issue at this time in gor mahia, but anyway let us move on next match against tusker we should improve.i watched the game and we really plaid well in first half but let us work on our fitness.

It’s called baptism of fire for the new coach. Last time we visited we beat them 3-0 so it was a sweet revenge for them.
These are trying times for the club which will now need level-headededness to circumvent the hurdles ahead. I believe we shall surmount these challenges starting with Tusker the coming weekend.
I also believe it’s too early to start casting doubts on the new TB. This team will take us to the title

Dan the boys plaid well ,i was in tanzania for some job duties and i happened to watch the game,Fitness is our problem and another alarming thing we dont have depth in our bench, players who can change the game from the bench are not in gor mahia.we signed a lot of waiganjos in second leg truth be said only otieno, gattuso and mburu are trying the rest like ssemanzi is not a foreign player who should be in gor.

I hope this is just a start for the new technical bench. Good luck!

Omwami Ingo you got it totally wrong and those very words may come to haunt your team one of these days. On the contrary, that result is not bad at all. If anything I believe it gives the new technical bench enough work before we meet Brewkenge. Let us compare notes one week from today.

@ingo, maybe you were not born yet but ask diehard ingwe fans what this team did to ingwe in Sudan and Malawi. And those two were finals. All the same our focus remains

@Dan mambo ya sudan na malawi is history ,it is always said that yesterday is gone and buried, you don’t know what is there tommorow and it is like a baby in the womb which you don’t know whether it is a dog or something else, you can only plan with today since it what you have at hand so let us learn and accept the result from simba to build on our future considering that we still have anew bench.Gor of today is not gor of yester years.meanwhile ingo your team afc leopards has lost focus and nowadays are just spraying salt on opponents team players,so it could be better if you concentrate there.

I thought we learnt in CECAFA Kagame Cup or may be it was wishful thinking.

Things are falling apart in this club…. First it was the striking force, now the defence seems to be leaking too many goals…….ripped apart by simba like amateur club.

Tired looking? They were flow by kenya airways to tanzania….Please feed this excuse to the birds, the league is on recess, what are players doing drawing 1-1 with the likes of nakumatt!!!

Second half a disaster. High school defending & lack of strategy.not inspiring at all. Long meaningless long passes. Anyway wish them well in the remaining league fixtures.

Team is not bad, fitness is the only our main undoing.the players were also tired, they needed a day or two to relax.flying is much more tiring.good luck coach.am happy because this defeat gives you enough homework to do.come back n work on the scoring bit.if we can’t maintain the 90 minutes, then the many chances wasted in first half should be converted in goals, this will boost players n fans morale.kindly beat for me tusker fc.

  • What we fans must know is that we were playing simba who r in pre-season with their best players to test & a new coach to prove that he is better than Logarusic while on our side we’ve just hired a new head coach & missing two of our best players(Kizito & Walusimbi). It was only bad to loose by that margin but loosing is gud for a new coach to see areas that he needs to work on.Now he knows that Gor has some work to do especialy on defence & striking. I wish u gud luck mr Frank & ua TB .

Now we see the difference btw Nakumatt & the likes of Simba.
Honestly what do you expect from players & a TB whose payments r in arrears.
Whether u fly them 2 matches or bring in the most highly paid TPL coach EC must resolve the outstanding payments issue first & fast & let it be known, then fans/members can rightly demand performance.
Fitness issues at this time really, maybe the players can’t afford enough meals?
GM’s main problems r administrative & more players will leave if unresolved!

Simba’s GK was Ivo Mapunda & Kiongera scored 2 goals.
We unexplainedly refused to renew Mapunda’s contract while Kiongera could not command a starting place in GM’s team of one year ago.
Clear evidence that the club has steadily regressed since winning the league title.
The financial instability due to KRA debacle, mismanaged gate collections etc is having serious repercussions.

  • for me am seeing a suffering playing unit. These players must be going through hell, lack of physical fittness could actually be an indicator that players’ dues are not being paid.
EC,fans and members of this club must now wake up and pull towards one direction. Avoid divisive club politics .

Watched the game and fatigue was evident from the start. Clearly, Kiongera returned to torment us. Our forward line was lacking in sharpness and Simba keeper Mapunda Ivo had a field day. We leave to fight for another day. Let us focus on the #Tusker project

It is true the players are suffering…..to quote BW in his last interview at gor mahia TV …..begin quote ” this players are living from hand to mouth, if I had my own money I would have chipped in, but unfortunately I don’t have the sources” end of quote !

If the executive is ashamed as they were with Nasios case why can’t Jerry come out n tell us the underlying issues? You can’t captain people who can’t pay rent nor afford brdad for his children not pay his la landlord.

The friendly was useful for both teams (Simba & Gor Mahia)to sharpen up! We in East Africa should work hard to improve our soccer standards maintaining the few good things we have and work to iron out bottlenecks & challenges! Players of one EA country playing in another is one of the good things! But we need African cups at club and national level!!!

Bloggers there are no pending salaries for players ,i confirmed from one of the players and he told me that the club only owes them some of the bonuses so let us not exegorate issues that we don’t know here.kushindwa ni part of the game let us also encourage our officials at times ,it is not easy as such.

@Omollo thanks for clearing this issue. Unfortunately some of us pick some hearsay and ran with it like it’s a fact. Surely we are suffering due to various factors including loss of some big time players and this has the potential to destabilise any team

I watched the game on Saturday, the display by Gor in the first half was good. In the second half the changes made did not work for Gor. However, it would have been nice for Gor Players to acknowledge the presence of the few Gor & Yanga Fans who cheered them all through!
