Gor Mahia complete signing of Wellington Ochieng
Muhoroni Youth defender Wellington Ochieng, becomes Gor Mahia’s second signing of the 2016 mid season transfer season. Ochieng will slot in at right full back where he will compete for playing time with Burundian cross-master Karim Nizigiyimana. This concludes negotiations between Kogalo and Muhoroni Youth.
Ochieng noted that he was elated at joining the club and hopes to be productive.
“I have officially penned down a two-year contract at Gor Mahia. I am happy for making this move and hopeful of a productive stay,” Ochieng’ told goal.com
Ochieng has been a solid defender who is also productive when going forward. He has scored numerous goals for Muhoroni Youth.
Ochieng however is not eligible to play in this weekend’s KPL TOp 8 match against Tusker. This according to KPL president Jack Oguda
“The tournament rules are clear that a player cannot feature for two teams in the same year. So even if Wellington is registered in time, he will still be ineligible having played for Muhoroni Youth in the previous stage of the tournament,” Oguda said to Supersport.
Ochieng is Gor Mahia ‘s second signing following Baron Oketch who joined from Chemelil Sugar.
A large gap will be left by the departure of Khalid Aucho who has been a real engine in the Kogalo midfield. Gor Mahia will be hard placed to find a midfield dyanamo of Aucho’s calibre.
That means we have to release a defender very soon.
Who says aucho is leaving? …this are just rumours being engineered buy his agent to market the player to European clubs.

@Sandro, there are reports that he may leave in August 2016 for a soccer scholarship at Lindsay College in the USA. How credible the reports I cant tell.

Musymo,yeah that has been muyoti’s insistence all along on refusing a long-term contract or having one with a clear release clause that the boy can exit anytime once his USA Soccer Scholarship comes through…More reason to keep abouba lest we end up stranded at a crucial stage in the 2nd leg
Tb should be sharp enough to sign replacements to avoid any problems in 2nd leg. I wish marcello and aucho success as they pursue greener pastures but im confident GMFC will rise to the ocassion
For Marcello it’s a catch 22 though personally I think the USA offer is better for his future life. The only problem is that it might be the end of him locally and maybe globally for his rise in football matters. All those who went t to the US on soccer scholarships never progressed any further.
On Aucho I think it’s good for him else soon the window will start closing for his success as a footballer
@ Dan I would agree that the move abroad would be good for him. Even if it doesn’t work out for his football it will most likely give a good chance at education and a better life eventually. It’s a win-win for him

Tusker FC midfielder, Humphrey Mieno has handed in a transfer request in order for force a move to the Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia.
K’Ogalo team manager Jolawi Obondo confirmed to Citizen Digital the club’s interest in the midfielder who is still in the books of the league leaders.

‘’There is interest from our side but he has to clear with Tusker first. He wrote to them that he wants to terminate the contract and then we can now talk,” Obondo disclosed.
Mieno has been viewed as the replacement for Ugandan midfielder Khalid Aucho who is heavily linked with a move to South Africa’s Premier Soccer League side Bidvest Wits.
“It’s not yet confirmed and we cannot comment on that issue and for now he is not going anywhere,” the team manager said of the midfielder who scored for the Uganda Cranes in the Afcon qualifiers last weekend.
The record 15-time champions are also debating on whether to make the return of former Rwanda international Meddie Kagere official since he has been training with team for some time.
The arrival of Brazilian striker, Thiago da Silva last week means the future of the attacker who scored 11 goals for the club as they matched to the KPL title unbeaten last season now rests with head coach Marcelo ‘Ze Maria’ Fereira.
‘’It’s up to the coach to decide. Meddie has been part of us but the window is still open and he may or may not join us,” the official told.
