Mind Games ahead of crucial Saturday

Kennedy Kenyatta, the coach of Ushuru FC sees the Saturday match against Gor Mahia as an opportunity to build his reputation.
“These kinds of matches build up your reputation when you do well in them and as a coach I am determined to make the most of it by winning on Saturday.

“We have had several challenges like injuries to key players but we hope to overcome this and pick a positive result,” he said to the Standard.

Complaints about Referee

Both Ushuru and Sofapaka have written to KPL asking the latter to replace referee Amos Wanjala who has been assigned to officiate the match against Ushuru.

According to a source in KRA, who asked not to be named, they are very uncomfortable with Wanjala.

“Apart from what he did against City Stars, he has also mishandled some of our matches and we want him changed. We have written to KPL and Football Kenya Federation to effect the change. We don’t want to go to a match that has already been decided,” the official from KRA revealed to Goal.

Sofapaka on the other hand claim Wanjala was blacklisted after his handling of the match between Gor Mahia and City Stars and should not have been picked to officiate such a decisive match.

“It looks like an attempt to award Gor Mahia victory. We don’t believe the referee will be fair on Saturday.”

But both these clubs are clearly just playing mind games with the referee to try and influence him to make decisions against Gor Mahia.

Change of Venue

Both Sofapaka and KRA have also lodged complaints against the change of venue from Nairobi to Kisumu. Sofapaka owner Elly Kalekwa is supposedly incensed at the change of venue.

“I am not sure it is the right decision to transfer this match to Kisumu. Yes, (Gor Mahia) are home team, but who is meeting costs for Ushuru to travel all the way and possibly spend night at lakeside town?” Kalekwa posed to goal.com.

“In fact if my team was playing them (Gor Mahia) and they asked us to move venue, we would reject the offer outright.”

Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier said the decision to move the match to Kisumu is meant to give Kisumu fans an opportunity to watch the team again.
“We are delighted by the enthusiastic support we have experienced in Kisumu and we want to give them another chance to watch the team. We promise to provide adequate security to our guests and will accept whatever results we get,” said Rachier

This is the penultimate weekend of the 2014 Tusker premier league and matches this weekend kick off at 2pm on Saturday.

Why do people always read mischief for everything that is Gor Mahia?look…every team had an opportunity to make good of the 29 matches they have played, and none has taken their chances. Now that we are on the brink of glory every opponent is starting to run their mouths!!what a bunch of baby cries we have here!!!

From the above question, i can now confirm that this guy bought the Mumias match. Who paid the costs of Sofapaka playing in Mumias last weekend? The whole season teams have traveled to far away venues without opponents meeting the costs. Why is Kalekwa believing that KRA cannot travel to Kisumu?

And who tells kalekwa that he is going to beat tusker, why is everyone soo concerned with Gor ushuru game.Tusker are also a hard nut to crack,or is it a foregone conclusion that sofapaka will beat tusker.

I think Kalekwa should boycott Tusker match because Gor has moved its match to Kisumu. and also boycott the match because the object the picked ref. He is also planning to reward hi players if they lift the cup. Why not reward Ushuru to motivate them to beat Gor?

On serious matters, I think as Nairobi fans have borne the pain and joy of Kogalo wuon timbe. For the lakesiders, please take this lesson: The match has three results only one can give us the cup outright. Behave…………

Should you win Celebrate responsibly, should it be the other way, honour the players who have worked so hard.

We have the experience of both and we can tell you, it is not always what you think and expect. Experience it and you will tell us later

  • @Ombeng, i want to tell you for a fact Sofapaka will beat Tusker, that is a done deal.
Infact Sofapaka are not worrried about their game against Tusker, their only worry is Gor Vs KRA game and this is evidenced by the mind games.
Their aim is to instill fear in the match officials

SOFAPAKA ARE IN TOP FORM , UNBEATEN IN THE LAST 14 GAMES AND THEY AREN’T SCARED OF ANYTHING !!! IT ALL GOES TO SUGGEST THAT SOFAPAKA WILL DEFINATELY BEAT TUSKER ……SO THE EYES IS ON GOR MAHIA , CAN WE BEAT KRA ?

IS KELEKWA SUGGESTING THAT GOR MAHIA HAVE ‘PAID’ THE MATCH AND THEREFORE ARE CHAMPIONS ELECT ? I READ POLITICS !! POLITICS !! POLITICS !!! POLITICS !!

ONE THING AM SURE OF IS IF WE DONT BEAT KRA, THE TITLE IS GONE !!!

@Jakoyo, Kelekwa and the team don’t mean what they are saying and they know it. I now hear Ushuru players are blaming Kenyatta. I can assure you that no one has blamed coach Kenyatta. These are all mind games targeted to fool Gor Mahia

All said and done it’s not automatic that Tusker will fall to Sofa even though the odds are that it will happen , but this is football.
The thing is, we just have to beat KRA and not care what happens at Ruaraka. All the same we have to observe PEACE

forget this kalekwa guy. m just a peeling to the fans from kisumu not to disgrace the team by invading the after the final whistle. let the cup be presented in an orderly manner. not like the one I witnessed last year in kasarani, when players could not enjoy and take photos with the trophy coz some fools invaded the pitch.

Ati referees, mara venue, mara Ushuru players unhappy and this and that oohh noooh. Do not fall for these distractions, coz that is what they are, and that is part of war against us. Let people concentrate on what concerns them unless they think the Tusker match is sorted out.

Guys am asking our team to remain focused and finish the job at hand! Lets not fall for anybody’s mind games.I happened to attend Ingwe vs Thika’s game at Tok komwanda n Situma said if Gor wins the league hawajui watajificha wapi n that Palace ndogo would rather win! That statement alone speaks volumes.we shall triumph against dark forces in God’s name.I rest my case.anybody who needs to know what else Situma and his cronies said can ask me through this reliable site.Amen.See u guys at Kisumo.

Sawa. But, Jameni let us give the little that we have to motivate these boys. We had a very realistic target of KES 100,000/- from this site. Almost two weeks later, we have raised only one fifth of that amount. Guys this is our time. This blog site has a patron-ship of over 300 and close to 50 very committed ones. To those who have contributed, may the Almighty God bless and increase your fortunes 100-fold. Thank you, my great pal The Villager.
