Nasio not interested in renewing contract

Injured defender, who undergoes surgery on Wednesday, reveals to Goal that he will not play again this season and will seek for new club after recovery

Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia defender Solomon Nasio has revealed that he will not play again until next season.

The player checked into Kenyatta National Hospital on Tuesday to undergo a nose operation. Speaking to Goal at the hospital, Nasio said he expects to be out for three months as he heals from the injury.

“I have been advised that I have to be out for three months for injury to heal. With my contract running out in a few weeks, it means the most probable time I can come back is next season.”

Nasio said he is not keen on renewing his contract at Gor Mahia when it lapses next month. “It was obvious that when I got the injury Gor Mahia officials were buying time by refusing to treat me so that they can drop me in June. The environment is already poisonous and I don’t think it will be wise to return to Gor Mahia.

“I am grateful for what the fans did for me. If it were not for them, my career would have come to an end.”
Nasio was in the news last week when he revealed that an injury he sustained six months ago was threatening to end his career and Gor Mahia officials had abandoned him.

These forced fans to contribute more than Sh200, 000 to enable him undergo the operation. Goal wishes Nasio a quick recovery.

Am happy you were treated and i thank you so much for being faithful to the club and serving the club whole heartedly.it is not an issue of renewing the contract but you know very well that you have no position in the current gor mahia squad.wish you well in your future career.

  • Come to Ingwe, we don’t leave our players in limbo when they get injured. Look at Kim and we took care of his knee surgery and now Seda

Just how Nasio went about this business long suggested that he was no longer interested in the club.

He spoilt the launch of the Chase Bank Medical Sponsorship and dampened the membership drive through negative publicity through the timing of his story.

Now he says he isn’t interested in the club; a slap in the face of players and fans who contributed towards his treatment. Of course with the poisoned r/ship, Gor EC were going to renew his contract to save face.

I suspect ( Mark my words) suspect that Nasio too was economical with the truth.

As one who contributed, I feel cheated by Nasio decision to walk away from Gor Mahia

  • Nasio was injured when playing 4 the club only 2 be hang out 2 dry by the previous & current executive community.
Inaction by EC was 2 put it plainly HEARTLESS & INDEFENSIBLE.
Its pure 101% sycophancy (which takes GM NOWHERE) 2 try & castigate Nasio.
Remember he will have 2 deal with these same officials (not fans) on a daily basis.
ADMINISTRATIVE NELIGENCE AT K’GALO IS NOT RESTRICTED 2 KRA SAGAS BUT PERMEATES TO PLAYERS’ WELFARE E.G NASIO’S CASE.

    Best of luck “King” Solomon

NASIO: let us get over this and resume our 350100 and membership recruitment drive.nasio incident had slowed us down abit .Let us continue rebuilding our club.

  • Nasio did not do anything wrong. He has served the club well. I wish he would stay but we wish him all the best.

Our officials are simply not competent. There is even an element of negligence. We should not have lost the Tuzo sponsorship without a plan B. Na hii mambo ya KRA should have been addressed zamani.

Also look at how players like Lavatsa left with no transfer fee paid. #Negligence.

  • Fans, contribute money to 350100 and stop yapping here of Solomon, office, KRA, Lavasta, sycophancy, negligence etc.

Our fans have lots of excuses with lots of venoms than contributing to support the club they judiciously claim to support. Where is the support?

  • Let me repeat myself since Mwakio thinks somebody made him prefect: Nasio did nothing wrong. Lets wish him the best. Fans should contribute to 350100. But that is a short term solution. We also need a long term solution. Which means officials need to style up. We as fans must hold officials accountable. If we do not, then the club will always find itself in such situations as the one we find ourselves now. If we as fans do not point out where the club is not doing well then this club is going nowhere.

  • however much we may wish Nasio all the best in his future, he must know that nobody knew him b4 he came to Gor. Gor had been paying him 4 the last 5yrs & even now that he is bed riden until his contract will expire. I dont think he shud talk badly of Gor bcos I believe 90% of those who contributed were Gor fans & he shud know that.Gor is not officials only but a family. How did he know that his contract will not be renewed. Kumbe ahsante ya punda ni mateke. Bcos if he is not a punda he cud not talk that w

@ Michael really asante ya punda ni mateke,i contributed but I really became suspicious about the timing when the guy exploded out with this issue of injury to the press guys.why was it that he just came out on the day that the medical insurance with chase bank was signed….?He was neglected yes,but gor mahia issues is always sweet for the press guys and they will always exaggerate it.i know Nasio injury could not be treated with the insurance since he got it long time ago but why come out at the time when we had signed the medical contract…?couldn’t he just keep quiet and then that injury could be treated as an injury which has recurred….?Bloggers there were some advisors here and I feel we have contributed some retirement benefit here.as Michael has said ,the guy was not neglected as such and the officials have also tried, if the guy could have not been treated since the time he got this injury it could be another case all together.so let him also appreciate what the club has done for him ,he has also served the club well and we appreciate it.To add on it it is not a mater of refusing to sign anew contract but the current Nasio I know is worn out and cant fit in the current gor mahia squard. He knows very well that he has no place in gor with our current squad so let him go with peace.

As Gor all we can do is to wish Nasio the best in his future endeavours and thank him for the service to the club. For those asking for a long time solution to the club issues, especially financial there is no better solution than the membership drive already in place. With a minimum of 30k members we will be able to self-sponsor the team or with 15k members and each further sending 1k shs to 350100 we will still make it. So mow there is no excuse that we cannot support the club. We have been vocal before asking for these facilities now we have to walk the talk

  • @joe Riaga, your posting is misplaced and ill timed. Am not prefect but a blogger. I have to speak my mind whether you like it or not. You too have a right to speak your mind whether we bloggers like it or not. In this regard, whatever your posting in this site can’t go unchallenged whether you like it or not. All bloggers including myself have right to criticism and applaud.

My friend and fellow blogger Riga, please note that the long term solution is continuance membership recruitment and annual renewal of members. You put your money where your heart is dwelling. All club members must renew their membership on annual basis and those that will not renew their membership means that their memberships shall automatically lapsed.

  • Nasio is right. Who on earth would want to go through this mafiaism? Surely I understand we have a CEO, whats his work?? Much as am still contributing to the club, truth be told that this is tje worst office ever save for Rachier. No one is coming out to give direction.
You dont respond to advice as well. We want to help but there isa aig stampede.

A kwende kwani ni nini….? the guy had been treated it is just because the injury recurred when the club was in hard times financially.so there is no need of him behaving as if he is messi in gor mahia.just Nasio not sserenkuma or owino or rama or kizito let him go and infact am regretting why I contributed, if his issue is the one which stopped us from contributing to the club for us to help him and he is still talking like that.He should know that gor is afamily and there is no way we will help you for the sake of the club then again you are back to tarnish the name of the club we were trying to protect.please leave us alone and go your way,if it were not Tony Anelka who is a strong gor mahia fan who mobilized us to contribute for him as gor mahia fans who could have contributed.Mr.NASIO you should know that we are gor mahia because it cant exist without us nkt.

If ua hse is falling do u keep telling uaself how stupid u r or u find a way of stoping it from falling. If u think that this hse is falling & u can nolonger stay in it y dont u move 2 another hse u think is better. This is not the time 2 blame anybody in Gor .

@BUSY BODIES: I av come to realise that THE MIGHTY GOR MAHIA OF EAST AFRICA is aving a few characters within the fans who r just spoilers.criticism is not bad but it is only worthy if it is constructively to our beloved team.Let us continue with our annual membership recruitment drive and 350100 pay bill. Those of us in rural towns without chase bank branches we r stuck. can’t the bank partner with the post offices kenyawide.look at how posta is partnering with kenya power and lighting company k.p.l.c. …let us think very fast.

Mwakio : You are the one who is always trying to prevent other people from expressing their opinion by jumping down their throat. Go look at your first post on this thread. I expressed my opinion and you tried to stifle my opinion. This is a case of removing the log in your eye before the speck in another person’s eye.
