Nuttall and entire Zamalek tech bench sent packing

Nuttall, and Mcleish pictured soon after they joined Zamalek

Former Gor Mahia coach Frank Nuttall will be looking for a job once again. This after Egyptian side Zamalek dismissed all their coaching staff including Alex McLeish who was the head coach and Moussa El-Habashi.

Zamalek Chairman Mortada Mansour has been unhappy with Zamalek’s performance. Zamalek are currently second of the league table with 45 points, 11 adrift of leaders and arch-rivals Ahly.  He initially asked Mcleish to fire Nuttall and El Habashi and McLeish duly obliged But 24 hours later, Mansour also fired McLeish.

Mcleish joined Zamalek in February and had a record of five wins, two draws and two defeats. Nuttall who is friends with McLeish, also joined Zamalek in February following the acrimony he experienced with Gor Mahia officials over his refusal to take a paycut

They have been replaced by Gamal Abdel-Hamid and Mohamed Helmy, who were appointed as director of football and first team trainer respectively.

  • Unfortunately,Zamalek were only interested with a coach not a politician.so it’s a situation of easy come easy go.

    • Joods you are a devil or a devil worshipper. What bad spell you wish to others can also happen to you. The fact is that FN won the league twice with Gor Mahia and this is in records.

    • Joods I have just read that it is the entire technical bench. It is not FN we are talking about here. Your constant phrase of a politician has lost its taste. Just look for another one. FN will forever remain a legend in many Gor Mahia fans hearts. Moreover you are not in Egypt to understand all that might have transpired.

    • Yawa Joods, if this is how you feel about FN, then how about sharing with us your feelings regarding Bob Williamson or even Logarusic/ Zedekia ” Zico” Otieno. On second thought PLIZ DONT. Are you a beneficiary of the infamous ” PAY CUT”? Pole sana for the setback FN, oh you great servant of K’galo, your feats are forever etched in bold ink not only in Gor Mahia’s but in Kenya’s football history. Infact so great were you that you could only be toppled/stopped by a mutiny engineered by your very own Chair/some players. Thx for setting the benchmarks and we as fans will not rest until we attain them again and surpass them. We’ve never forgotten Thigo, Otti, Julians, Johnson, Sonyi, so yes we’ve accepted and moved on BUT WE’LL NEVER 4GET FN, KAZI KWAKO ZE MARIA!

  • We muse keep in touch with Frank Nuttal and next time round give him a professional contract on professional terms.

In my opinion he is among the best coaches Gor has had and I am disappointed with the way he was let go

  • How does that help GM , concentrate on For , not Zamalek.

  • Allow me to be honest with Gor Mahia management and ardent followers. Ambrose Rachier understands this too well. There is no magic here. Use money to get money, full-stop. Reducing Nuttals salary was the worst doing he and management ever did. I feel very bad reading what the writer above has said and I quote ” Nuttall who is friends with McLeish, also joined Zamalek in February following the acrimony he experienced with Gor Mahia officials over his refusal to take a paycut”. Would Rachier himself accept paycut if he knew he is a performer? Where in the world would salary be reviewed downwards on performers? Gor Management have let us down, and I see they are still continuing to let us down.I loved and still love Gor Mahia as a club because of one Frank Nuttal. His coaching skills were amazing. We could see anybody in the club scoring goals. Things have today changed. It’s never interesting watching this great club play. How I wish Rachier and group saw the bigger picture. One would feel sad on hearing that we have a match.
