Ze Maria to take charge as Nuttall finally speaks

Club official Ronald Ngala has confirmed that the Brazilian Ze Maria will take charge of the team starting this weekend.

“He will be on the bench for the next match against City Stars on Saturday,” said Ngala to mediamax. Gor Mahia EC settled on Ze Maria after recommendations from a highly-regarded football agent whose identity the club won’t disclose.

Other names that had been mentioned as potential replacements are Bobby Williamson who still has living quarters in Kenya and former Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche.

Nuttall speaks on reasons for leaving

Immediate former coach Frank Nuttall has cited numerous reasons for leaving the club.

Additional Reporting from the Standard
Nuttall, who has since joined Egyptian giants Zamalek as an assistant coach, has accused the club of owing him winning bonuses dating back to November 2015. The tactician was also unhappy with K’Ogalo bosses for delaying to facilitate his medical insurance and acquiring him a car. “As a director of football, I am not involved in hiring, releasing and disciplinary of players and assistant staff. This has affected the performance of the club,” Nuttall wrote to the club’s management. Other grievances cited by the Scott include unprocedural termination of his contract on February 4, a decision that was later revoked. “Lastly, the executive committee has continued to make negative and undermining comments in the media, including those relating to team selection. In the circumstances, I believe the club is no longer able to make my work and performance possible at the club,” he said.

On his part, club chairman Ambrose Rachier accused the Scott of having planned his depar ture in advance.

“We received Frank Nuttall’s resignation letter on Tuesday after reports surfaced that he flew to Egypt to join Zamalek. ln the letter, he mentioned a number of reasons and it’s clear he had planned to leave many days before and without telling anyone,” Rachier told the club’s website. Rachier said they will get a replacement soon and several coaches have applied for the job. “After reports went out that Nuttall has resigned, we received many applications and hopefully, the club will get a good coach in the next few days,” he said.

  • From what Alai is posting on his wall I think Rachier will kill this club. Rachier (puff adder snake) has lived to fulfill his name in Gor Mahia. He is very poisonous and toxic to Gor Mahia. In him there is a worse Sam Nyamweya. It is prudent that we call elections as soon as immediately so as to get rid of this poisonous puff adder whose poison is slowly digesting the club from within

  • Rachier simply wanted Nuttal out. As much as he has done well for the club playn the Nyamweya card with Gor will be disastrous. I thnk it’s time Rachier leaves the club coz his decisions are now coming to personal. This is not the way to go. It is a pity when he says he good riddance to Nuttal in such a manner, not stopping to thnk how Nuttal lifted the club. Using players to fight the coach also show that Gor has a poor structure. Nowonder EC did everythng to let Abondo go without even getting income for his move… that is pure corruption. I do not believe in this Brazilian guy. Rachier will be mistaken to think that he can do as he wants simply coz of sponsors. I will bet you that these same sponsors could end up living Gor in a hurry.

Hi my good bro’s…Well I totally disagree with how FN was mistreated and hounded out of Gor despite his success. But the Atmosphere prevailing was too toxic for him to achieve any meaningful result this season as he was facing a serious dressing room revolt from senior players. So @ bro bob & dinga,as we continue fighting for elections which might not happen until Dec as Puff Adder snake AR has Baba’s backing, why don’t we atleast in the interim lend our Support to the new incoming coach Ze Maria so atleast he can return Kogalo to winning ways and top of the table?Rem he is innocently accepting a job to which he is more qualified that our departed FN since he holds a Master Uefa Pro License, the highest possible while Nuttal had a Uefa Pro A.Lastly even our beloved FN was referred to as a novice fitness trainer who’s first assignment as coach was in Gor but look at the Glory he brought to the club.Ze Maria can do the same if we fans rally behind him and give him Morale.Lets all believe guys…

The problem with us in Gor is that it’s hard to satisfy us. Why do we seem to be clue-less on how to deal with AR? We have the Sports tribunal to present our grievances but seems we all know that this will be a legal issue and the issue of locus standi will/might occur. In other words most of us are not members of Gor but are just fans. Let’s join thro’ the branches and use the numbers/mass to make the changes.
On the new coach let’s not be judgmental. In this same site we called Nuttal a PE instructor and Loga a journeyman. Didn’t they deliver? Am sure the people now ready to lay their lives for Nuttal are the same ones who wrote him off as non-experienced etc etc

  • I wonder if it is Nutall who has poisoned some of this so called fans or bhang smokers against AR! but let us not forget AR was here way before Nutall and AR has achieved more for the club than Nutall.

So please stop this smear campaign rubbish against AR. He is here to stay and move the club to the highest possible level.

    • The success of Gor Mahia comes more from the active fans than from the chairman himself, I can comfortably say that. That is why with no accountability at all, fans would still risk to contribute their hard earned money towards the running of the club through various means during the hard times. That reminds me why he was always comfortably claiming that Gor can survive without a sponsor, NOT because he was using his money, because he was witnessing the faithfulness of most of the fans. Some former officials who had good ideas for the club were all bundled out. All the EC needed to do was look for some cheap accusations just like they have done to Nuttal. Zi Maria will come, he will achieve a lot or so I think. However how long will he last before issues start catching up with him?

AR track records are well documented. He brought in Loga, william and finally FN. FN success were becos loga laid foundation, William improve on it and FN perfected it using foreign players recruited by BW. It was time for FN to build his own team and excel in AFRICA CHAMPION LEAGUE. What did he achieve? incite families to fight, fight with players, bench good players left the club at no 12. Did he find the club at that no? You mess with AR you cry as you are doing for Bwana now. Let support each other for success. Election time will come and you can elect akina alai.

    • As you continue protecting Rachier remember Gor is buying players very expensively, sharpens them then lets them go FOR FREE. Or was it Prof. Nuttal’s work to ensure Gor earn something from Sserrenkuma, Kagere, Olunga, Abondo etc’s departure? Soon sponsor will go then he and his office will start begging for harambees, pay bill numbers and other contributions that are not accounted for. Rachier is not everything in Gor.

Guys, let’s remember that the coach’s first allegiance is to the office , however bad it is, and not to the fans. Do we remember a coach at Real Madrid winning the UEFA CL but was still sacked even before the final. That did not stop them from winning it again. So the only constant here is the team, some fans will leave and some come, coaches and players come and go and so are the EC members.
As much as I don’t like some ways of AR management at times I ask myself where all these potential officeholders were when our players were boycotting training/matches, our bus was recalled etc. We literally had to go to the President, the DP, Bandari Fc, City Stars, Peter Kenneth, Nyamweya amongst others bail us out yet we are millions of fans. Is the coming of the sponsor the one fuelling all these? Are these potential officeholders able to run the team even for one month in the event we don’t have a sponsor? Are they even helping the youth team to show how much they love the club? we must ask these questions to the present and the aspiring officeholders else we end up with worse

  • Guys let us not leave in denial here, GM presently does no need trial and error. GM is a big club with a lot of politics and office interference in the TB that if one is not thick skinned you cannot last a day…I think EC should have gone for some one with a lot of experience, qualifications is not precursor to success in football, these guys are easily being outwitted tactically and they end loosing most of the time…and this is my worries

And on AR, I have stated here severally that to some extend is being let down by his own EC members. but he has done his best and he will not be the last, we all appreciates everything he has done for the club. Let some one to also try his best

Our comments here at times are counterproductive. Saying that we must win come what may or people will run. How does that help the players knowing very well that it’s not the fans who play? How I wish every fan must at one time played soccer or any other game. They could know what it takes to win. It’s not a matter of how much we want to win but how we go about trying to get that win. No wonder the last time we played Sofapaka one fan went for their keeper thinking that he was helping Gor win the game. A game we still lost. So guys takes be logical in trying to achieve our goals. The hullabaloo created by politicians to achieve their means will not work here.

@Dan Original, Jathurgi, Jakoyo, Mocholung etc, we are posting what we know, our expectations and demand for performance.

My issue with AR are on the following:-
    1. During the last AGM, members resolved that the club should turned into the professional outfit and have the club activities be commercialized. It is now several months and years, we are yet to see the desired change we were longing for status of the club to change.

We have been waiting for the club to turned into a professional outfit which AR and his bloated EC have failed to implement this with all the goodwill AR had over these periods.

    2. Lack of processes and internal control systems
How do Gor Mahia procure all the consumables and merchadises? Do we processes in place?
When did we see the last published financial statements? Is Gor Mahia a personal property or personal business where you can’t ask questions on club football and financial activities?

We have been hearing receipts books for gate collections being printed by the office bearers and fronted by members of the EC. How much did we collect in 2014/2015 season and other seasons? Where can we authenticate this gravy matter?

    3. Distribution and sales of club branded replicas
Where is the accountability and who is responsible for this good project?
The rumors has it that Kilo, Ngala, Ken, Jack Orowe have been responsible and who authorized them?

    4. Players contracts
Why should the EC allow players contract to run down upto the last days.

    5. Poor planning and lack of commitment
We recruit very good players but their names were never submitted to CAF headquarter, hence we end up loosing games that we should have won with good recruitment and preparations.

AR has always been planning to fail in this competitive CAF tournament. This is really unacceptable as the rumors have it that they eat the little money but fail to deliver the performance.

In the recent past, CAF penalized Gor Mahia for failure to send the players names to Madacascar. If the the EC that do not know their mandate in office worth talking about or discussing? We do not have money but keep on spending on mistakes that can be avoided.

    6. Lack of Active Administrative office or secretariat
The EC after the last AGM was mandated to have a fully functioning secretariat with salaried staffs to drive the agenda and objective of the club but this has never seen the light of the day due to AR poor leadership and lack of foresight in planning.

We had proposed CEO, marketing personnel, finance and operations, etc but EC have failed terribly to implement such a very simple mandate. These personnel were to be employed on performance measurement targets that can bring more financial resources to the club by looking and exploring all the value chains of Gor Mahia business.

    7. Lack of foresight and strategic plan of Gor Mahia
EC term ended in December last year but I have never seen abridged strategic plan of Gor Mahia.

How do we plan and where is the budget for the club?

What does Gor Mahia future looks like without such a simple document of the club on where we are coming from? where we are? and where we are going?

    8. Poor leadership at the echelon of the club
All these summaries my conclusion on poor leadership at the club being perpetuated by EC.

We are heading nowhere if club officials are not accountable to every resolutions passed by the members.
